should a genius like tommy emmanuel have millions of likes and views, when are we going to learn to value great and true artists? when he leaves this world, many will want to pay tribute to him. a big tommy hug straight from Brazil, may god bless you always!
There are quite a few people doing these lockdown videos, but only a select few that I feel are truly motivated by caring and generosity. So glad I have seen T.E. live, and so glad I have found these uplifting videos. Thank you sir. Be well.
God bless you for the work you do. Both my daughters are nurses, one in a doctor's office and one in the ICU ward at a hospital. It's so scary, I truly choke up every time I try to talk about it. I hope you understand that it's not merely off-hand when we all call you our heroes. 🙏 for all of you, sincerely.
@@clearasil11 Ah.. I´m not sure where to find that. I learnt his left hand by looking and copying the shapes and his right hand by listening. What I can tell you is that he plays in a slightly different tuning. His low E is tuned down 1 full step to a D and his A string is tuned down a full step to a G. So basically the tuning is: D G D G B E
San Diego concert 2011..where you found me..joy! Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift inspiring me to play keyboard therapeutic music at senior care location. Every tree on this planet aspires to become a Tommy guitar. They whisper about when the breezes blow through their leaves. Blessings..take care..be well..to you and yours..you are my dear.friend. Hope Tommy plays ''Kentucky''in an upcoming video. I was inspired to get serious about playing the guitar in the 80s when I saw Tommy and Chet playing together on the show Ralph Emery hosted. The first song I learned to finger pick was 'My Old Kentucky Home' (my home state). Thanks Tommy!
Tommy many thanks from Poland Cracow. Im classical guitar teacher same age as you. Hope.. is coming from your music. We are waiting for that kind of inspiration...Now we are all together...Stay healthy
Thank you so much for your music. You are a true inspiration. Loved your Amazing Grace the other day. Would to hear your interpretation of Smile, Charlie Chaplin.

Thanks Tommy. For some reason when you played Dixie McGuire I thought of Jerry Reed. Maybe the phrasing, not sure. Anyway, thanks for spending time with us in these uncertain times. Stay safe.
You really make that Maton guitars sound so good! I hope I can buy your new album Tommy songs on iTunes tomorrow! I’m also looking forward to your concert tomorrow, can’t wait! That Fiddler song sounded a little bit like a song called Hot rod Lincoln, fantastic!
These videos are fantastic, making my day brighter each time a new one is posted...PLEASE set up a patron account or other way we can send Tommy some cash=love for these!
@@T.R.U.T.H.. Huh? I thought about it before I posted it. It would work very well. Hell, I do it all the time. Why do you think it would not work very well?
@@AndrewDeFaria I agree, landscape is always better, but you have to understand that he is not very good with technical stuff he is just there to play :) His team should take care of that kind stuff.
@@kikik9453 I've been to 5 Tommy Camps. I know Tommy. He's smart enough to turn the camera 90 degrees - trust me. That doesn't take any technical prowess at all! Tommy, shooting in landscape mode makes it easier for your viewers to see both left and right hands on the guitar.
Did you get stuck in California during lockdown or do you live there? Suppose it's a bigger music scene in the States but surely bigger roots in UK?. Seen you twice here, you coming back? Keep these coming, especially your slower ballads.... Somewhere over the rainbow, Amazing Grace etc... Cheers Tony Enamel! 😂
Tommy, I challenge you to write a song about TRUST. It is clearly something near and dear to your heart and Lord knows we can all use your musical insights on the subject.
I loved playing guitar like hell but a lost part of my pinky being very young ..I picked up guitar again a couple of years ago and one of my dreams is to play one of Tommy's songs ..come on Tommy write something easier ( for alk of us who are not geniuses) and without so much pinky work....I beg!! You are hope inmany ways so why not hope for thar? 😍
Try out "Song for a rainy morning"! I would argue that its Tommy's easiest song. Hopefully you'd be able to figure it out without the use of your pinky. I'm assuming its on your fretting hand?

Man, his tone is amazing. Does anyone know what those guitars' tonewoods are? Because it looks like cedar tops over maple back and sides to me, but I could be wrong....
Just looked it up, and I was only partly right. The tops are sitka, which is used on about 90 percent on all acoustic guitars. The color seemed darker than that, so I guessed cedar. The back and sides are maple, though. Sounds fantastic. Usually I find maple to be shrill and hard to listen to, but his sound is balanced. Of course, the amplification probably has a lot to do with it, but sounding good is sounding good.
At last a song with just 3 chords..this should be easy i thought....how wrong i was 😖😖...any chance of a 1 chord tune?...give us mere mortals a chance to say " i can play that !!"....😂😂😂
many of his songs aren't actually that hard! you'd be suprised if u just got a good video to show the shapes! His hands tend to hide shapes well because of how he plays chords sometimes. Even using 1 finger to fret 2 strings sometimes.
@@vyvynylification hi Arno. Thanks for your reply. The problem i have is that as an old guy (59 !!) Ive been playing since i was 15 and never used a thumb pick.
