I was such a book loyalist for SO LONG that I flat out refused to watch the show for an embarrassingly long time though ofc I eventually did haha! I am a little unsettled by the fact that the writers of the TV show turned the Jenna and Toby situation into Jenna, who is the victim in the books, being the perpetrator on Toby
Yeah. While the bringing awareness to that sort of abuse dynamic (female abuser, male abusee) was welcome in concept, IMHO the main reason they changed it was so the viewer wouldn't feel as much sympathy towards Jenna for the Liars blinding her. The TV show really tries to convince us they're good people, the books make it a lot more obvious they have a lot of growing to do.
I like the idea of it, but it could've been done so much better. they should've shown the real trauma that toby would've experienced from that, or at least recognized it as SA (which it clearly was) instead of just saying that jenna was in love with toby and "forced herself on him"
@@sophialococo8661 Toby as a character had so much untapped potential and exploring the affects of his SA would’ve been so good. but like the rest of the male characters, they tended to just be boy toys or plot filler.

I made it up to the end of the third arc in 2013... Can't believe it's been a decade. Spencer was also my favourite up until Twisted. This made me really want to rewatch the TV show! Seriously though, what a great video!
Reading the prequel was really hard for me cause it felt very unrealistic, you’re telling me Ali A TWELVE YEAR OLD was hanging out with all the seniors and flirting with them???? they were kids, they describe all of them as maybe the way a 17 year old would act and the things they say😭
It does seem unrealistic but I do think it happens it just often rare at times. Especially in the book Ali play field hockey with the high schoolers. In the book she described for looking slightly older than her age. I mean look at all those underage Instagram models that everyone seem to obsess over.
ok, you're making me definitely want to get into the book series. I totally dug the show when it was out....up til, like you said, about season 4 or 5. I GOT TIRED OF THE EMOTIONAL "RUN AROUND" OF WHO TF "A" WAS. Sh*t was the pits and I was OVER IT. But i think I could hang in there for 18 books of FUN. The show was fun, and I could only imagine how much more immersive and juicy the books are.
I read these as they were being released, and watching this I’ve realized I don’t remember a single plot point 😀 really wanna reread and rewatch now (even though I just rewatched the show like a year ago). Great video!!!
i read all of them in a fit of insanity about a year ago and i remember almost nothing 🥲 but i remember that it was a fun read and i was genuinely creeped out by ali and that vanilla hand soap scent
I heavily enjoyed every book in the series. I’ve never screamed from enjoyment and excitement more in my life than I have reading Pretty Little Liars 🤣 It will always be my favorite ❤️

I’m not very far in to your video, but this is REALLY scratching an itch in my brain - I’ve been wanting to re-read the series but sold mine years ago. 😭 I had kinda the opposite experience to you - was a huge fan of the books as a teenager, and watched maybe 2 seasons of the show before realising the books were IT for me. This video is going to be sooo nostalgic for me! 😍
Your vlogs give me life lol. I was really hoping this was going to be a better ending to a series for you, it seems all the series go downhill. I love PLL when I was growing up. I really remember liking Aria even though she had the creepy teacher bit. Love you A reveal at the end as well, that perfect!!
Your British Spencer impression is spot on. The accent was so bad. Every now and then I think about re-watching the entire show, but then I think of the last episode. One of the worst TV show endings ever. God I hated that they genuinely romanticised Ezria as a couple. That man should be in jail.
I remember getting so excited when, in the show, aria imagined ezra getting arrested and I was so disappointed when it didn't happen Could have been an interest ark for her to realise she had been groomed/in a toxic relationship
@@IlkaWaffy Absolutely. Would have been a much more complex and nuanced storyline. Also could have kept her with the other girls more when they were figuring out the A mysteries. So often I felt like Spencer, Hannah and Emily were doing most of the investigating while Aria was dealing with Ezra drama.
I read these books as they were coming out❤️ I remember going to the bookstore every time they're was a new release Even to the lying game Damn pll was a powerhouse
Sadly the nastiness of picking on others appearance is reflective of real life. A couple of weeks ago I put shorts on as it was a sunny day and I felt great. I walked 20 mi utes to the the town centre I had 4 teenage girls behind me part of the way. By the time they went into a shop I felt crap. I didn't feel confident enough to call them out on their behaviour just in case it became physical on their part. Thankfully I was able to walk away sit myself down and give myself a talking to that their words do not count and I did look cute! I just hope someone helps them see how wrong they are to behave that way without them having to experience it themselves.
i love this series so much, i literally reread it once a year. also unpopular opinion, but i’ve always loved the random christmas book bc it’s just so insane.
I read every single book when I was really into the series and waiting for the final series to come out I believe. The books are so very different to the show! The show was so brilliantly cringey, hilarious and addictive! 😂 Looking forward to hearing what you think of the books… I think the first arc was my favourite and it went downhill later.
I've never read or watched PLL and to be honest, I'm not much smarter about the whole storyline even after watching the video, but I'm just amazed how much work you put into these feature-film-length videos... the creativity is unmatched! The intro, the messages and the whole composition is just so good! Btw. I absolutely love how Tobu and Ash have a whole cat-fight behind you as you talk about the first companion novel, they stole the show 😹you going off about how pointless the book is and oblivious to the rascals was so funny to me 😹

I made it up to the end of the third arc in 2013... Can't believe it's been a decade. Spencer was also my favourite up until Twisted. This made me really want to rewatch the TV show! Seriously though, what a great video!
Omg I’ve been watching this all morning when I’m not busy and I’m DYING at the A reveal at the end 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The A reveal at the very end of the video was next level 👀
Reading the prequel was really hard for me cause it felt very unrealistic, you’re telling me Ali A TWELVE YEAR OLD was hanging out with all the seniors and flirting with them???? they were kids, they describe all of them as maybe the way a 17 year old would act and the things they say😭
There are precocious 12 year olds.
i think the more unrealistic bit is the idea that seniors would want to hang out with a 12 year old, regardless of how precocious they are
It does seem unrealistic but I do think it happens it just often rare at times. Especially in the book Ali play field hockey with the high schoolers. In the book she described for looking slightly older than her age. I mean look at all those underage Instagram models that everyone seem to obsess over.
it's actually not uncommon at all sadly
ok, you're making me definitely want to get into the book series.
Can you do gossip girl? Those books are kinda unhinged and worth a read!
The gradual decline from excited to annoyance
Have you read all of Series of Unfortunate Events?? I would love one of these videos on them, my favorite books from childhood
i loved the whole video but the ending was absolutely genius...and also now i want to rewatch the tv show
12:09 had me smiling. Loved your interpretation of the teacher. 😂
38:22 the kittens playfighting is the highlight of this video.
Just watching you read book series and having a blast of a time feeling like I am hanging out with a friend while I work!
I used to be mad that I only made it through book 9. Now I’m content with it. Thank you lol
The “Ello Sista” greeting caught me off guard 💀
i stopped reading after book 8 and decided thats where the story ended for me. no ragrats. lmfaooo
You did the right thing 😂
So did I but then I got book 9 and 10 for Christmas and reeled myself back in haha
I loved the tv series but I barely remember anything maybe except Sara and her million showers xD
Hahaha those showers 😂
I heavily enjoyed every book in the series. I’ve never screamed from enjoyment and excitement more in my life than I have reading Pretty Little Liars 🤣 It will always be my favorite ❤️
Great vlog, Gavin! Had me laughing out loud way too much. The “duck” text message I’m still giggling about. So silly, so wonderful. Great work!
I'm obsessed with these videos! This is so much stinking fun.
Thank you 😄
I never finished PLL and you’re making me want to go back and watch it but I think that would hurt my brain… 😅
Always in awe of your dedication to a concept though. 👏
Yep it would definitely hurt your brain if it hurt mine and I’ve already seen the show once 😂
You should! It's so much fun
I feel like I need to rewatch the show asap! Love this! I had to play your intro a few times 😂👏🏻👏🏻
I’m late to the game but thank you so much for your hard work Gavin! Always entertaining always wondered how the books were different but loved the tv show so much I couldn’t get myself to read them. Keep up it up and can’t sit for more videos since y’all be doing this full time soon❤️
THAT A ENDING THO🤌🏽 CHEFS KISS😘
Always wanted to know who A was but couldn’t bother actually watching the show 😭
This was fkn awesome & so well done! Definitely subscribing ✨
Oh my gosh. I’m only 38 seconds in and I’m already SO invested👏🏼
Hope I don’t disappoint 😊
@@GavinReadsItAll You're the only TH-camr I will sit down and watch a 2 hour video for. Love it!
the "Ello Sista'!" at the beginning sent me offfff!
Love this. I am still reading them!!!!
Absolutely unhinged, love that
Me or the books 😂
@@GavinReadsItAll definitely both 😂
not the "Ello Sistah!" one minute in 😂😂😂😂
Your British Spencer impression is spot on. The accent was so bad.
Every now and then I think about re-watching the entire show, but then I think of the last episode. One of the worst TV show endings ever.
God I hated that they genuinely romanticised Ezria as a couple. That man should be in jail.
I remember getting so excited when, in the show, aria imagined ezra getting arrested and I was so disappointed when it didn't happen
Could have been an interest ark for her to realise she had been groomed/in a toxic relationship
I finally finished reading this series earlier this year! I used to love the books when I was younger, but now reading them… they were something else
Stellar work as usual 😌
The opening reimagined is flasless Gavin!
I read these books as they were coming out❤️ I remember going to the bookstore every time they're was a new release
Even to the lying game
Damn pll was a powerhouse
The covers of the first eight books look so much like boxes of hair dye lol
this reading vlog is everything i wanted and more, bless
Thank you 💕
Perfect beginning...perfect ending. Well done
Thank you Jenny 😂
Btw. I absolutely love how Tobu and Ash have a whole cat-fight behind you as you talk about the first companion novel, they stole the show 😹you going off about how pointless the book is and oblivious to the rascals was so funny to me 😹
Oh gav! Just love ya! I’m so glad this video was so long, love when you read big series! 💕
Oh my goodness that ending 😂 Loved it!
I’m super late to watching this, but I nearly died with your redo of the show’s title credits. Oh my god.
favourite video I have ever seen!!! thank you for the time and effort, amazing watch
This was so much fun!! Only thing getting through day 5 of taking care of my sick 2 year old while also being sick and pregnant✌🏻
omg loved the end! great Collab!
Quote of the Day: “Yeah, I don’t need the attack on my feet, Sir because I’m being attacked everywhere else.”
I love when you had something funny like your sketches to the vlogs. Just mqkes them so unique and they are always funny🥰🤗🥰
Thank you Louisa, I'm so happy you enjoy them 🥰
that first A message just got me 😂 that was so goofy i loved it.
I loved this video I literally watched it over a few days on the way to work as like a podcast, I love the effort you put in! Definitely satisfied my need to know what happened in these books
