    • @michaelgraves6845
      @michaelgraves6845 7 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Dude I get where you are coming from. I hate people (well not hate, but I do like my solitude) I myself spend my job speaking to randoms on the phone and when I come home from work the last thing I want is to deal with is more people.
      I had pushed away my friends over the last few years and I set myself an amazingly difficult task of re-connecting and I have actually seen an improvement in my happiness and self appreciation.
      I am happy myself with my own company and find great joy in doing things myself but even having one day a week that I make an effort to hang out with a friend the change is actually fun.
      You don't need other to feel happy, however we are biologically tuned to need other people, on a scientific level we are motivated by our biology to seek social interactions because on a base biological level the pack survives better than the lone wolf and it's more than a little impossible to re-produce on your own.
      We as a culture are so good at going against our base nature and sometimes it is for the best but a lot of the time we make life more difficult.
      Mate find self worth in your personal alone time, but I challenge you to take just a few hours a week to make an effort to connect with old friends or to try and make knew ones and see if it has any difference =)
      P.S. Nice reference with the lyrics, made me laugh =D

    • @manny3095
      @manny3095 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Michael Graves well im glad i gave you a laugh lol. and thank you for the words. i suppose this lone wolf mentality is the direct offspring of a past of countless rejection and loneliness. it almost like ive grown accustom to the fear that engines my misery. i suppose challenging my self doubt, and trying to reconnect with others would be a great next step for me. thanks

    • @michaelgraves6845
      @michaelgraves6845 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Manny Singh I'm glad my words helped =) I can empathize with the fear of rejection and it definitely is easier to build up the walls than keeping on trying and getting hurt, however it's like what he said in the video we can so often run to the things that give us comfort and avoid the real world, however when we face the world and change all the little things in our lives we start to realize we don't need to run, because we have made the real world somewhere we love.
      I am definitely not there myself yet and I have a long way to go, but it's good to help each other out =)
      And the more we feel confident in ourselves (and that confidence comes from actively changing our lives for the better) the more we will be able to go into social situations confidently and as they say, confidence is attractive to others =)
      But let me know how you get along =)
      Wish you all the best out there in the big bad world =)

    3 - Areas to overcome addiction:
    1. Deep Human bonding (focus on real life interaction - not social media)
    2. Meaningful work (do something meaningful fx. helping others)
    3. Sculpting - work on yourself (sacrifice desires to sculpt a better life fx resist eating a snack)
    -- Keep improving these 3 areas and it will become easier to overcome your addiction - Create a positive feedback loop by doing this

    This video is 100% true and helpful. As someone that has been overcoming addiction for a year and a half, these are the things that absolutely work. It isn't easy at first. The exact opposite. It may, at times, feel like it is a futile thing to do. If you take it day by day, as well as finding something you are passionate about, then it will get better. I was told something that I still hold on to: "Every day, you wake up an addict. What you do throughout the course of the day will determine if you go to bed with another day of sobriety under your belt or in the midst of a relapse." One day at a time. That's all you can do, so do it the best you can.

    I want to start by saying that I do like this video. It addresses the fact that quitting "cold turkey" doesn't deal with the underlying issues. However; it is a very basic introduction into addiction. The flaw lies in assuming that someone in addiction can just start changing. I tried the gym, I changed jobs, I moved, I found new friends and yet I kept going back to drugs. Addiction is much more than just changing the surroundings. Most addicts have deep seeded mental, emotional, and spiritual issues. Yes, creating a deeper bond with another human being is important, but it doesn't help address those issues. Some people need professional help. Myself, I started going to 12 step meetings. Some of the principles do relate to the three things you mentioned in your video. Real change comes with more than just changing the surroundings, or the "rat park". Maybe I am not the most qualified person to address this topic, but with over 10 years clean, I do know a little bit about it. I'd like to see you do a video that touches more on the emotional, mental and spiritual change that needed.
    Please don't take this as a negative rant. The fact that you understand addiction and put it into a light other than criminal and degenerative helps fight the old adage that says "once an addict, always an addict". With that said, thank you for this video.

      Of course it does because said churches provide you with a ready made group of people to socialize with, you are usually encouraged to volunteer and said churches usually do charity work, and finally they have you read and study a book. They also encourage you to live a specific lifestyle and offer you support in maintaining said lifestyle.
      The downside is it can make you gullible (in specific instances), it limits your thinking in many ways, and it also limits the type of life experiences you are allowed to experience and the ones you do get to experience are viewed through a specific world view.
      But hey man if it works for you then go for it.

I have quit cigarettes, alcohol, LSD, magic mushrooms, shopping, mdma, hashish, sugar, benzodiacepines with ease however porn seems to be most difficult and hardest one to overcome its literally a challenge, specialy if you were expose to it at young age. So pretty much we should make friends with people who want the best for us, pursue what is meaningful instead of what is expedient and treat ourselves like we were someone responsible for helping? JP really has us covered

    Shit I wish I just had a porn addiction. I'm a straight opiate addict, been on some form of opiate everyday for the last decade, usually centering around heroin. I am fascinated in pharmacology however, so opiates are just my main tug, in my free time I also enjoy, a little coke, speed, benzos, & other hardly well known substances like phenibut (Gaba b neurotransmitter I believe?)...I will escape my cage one day, I have music, and that will save me, as it's the only constant that's ever been in my life, through it I escape and become whole again.

    My addiction is to a pre workout stimulant. Without it I am finding it very hard to work out with the same level of intensity and speed that I used to. I also just feel sleepy all day and have been sleeping 12 hours a day for the past two days. I can handle the frustration and the cravings, but the sleepiness and lack of focus is killing me in a very crucial point in my career growth.

    fapping ruins your life, you feel low energy all the time, no confidence, brain fog, very blurry vision, depression, lack of motivation and much more... by stopping you switch all these negatives in to positives. I believe by stopping with out relapse is the foundation of success because once you can actually feel reality u can move on to things like studying, working out, your job etc and do them with your full clarity of who you really are.

  • @skyentertainment1816
    @skyentertainment1816 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I speak from experience here;
    The best way to overcome addiction is to find purpose in life. Once you actually have something in life worth waking up for each morning, you stop chasing the temporary 'high' that drugs/alcohol induce.
    All the best!

    I love how he subtly wrote Days Addiction free: 12
    My first Nofap trials I always had the worst urge to relapse on the 12th day.
    but, after that, you experience the flatline level which is you feel like you have really less to no sexual drive for another 2 to 4 weeks. and then it returns back stronger but now you're stronger enough to control it like a boss as the time goes through your 90 days challenge. What I'm trying to say is that the hardest days are actually your gateway to a more rewarding level with less stress about it. and it goes in cycles like this till you master it finally. so keep focused and strong.

    Embracing and finding your sexuality on your own is a part of knowing yourself and growing, it's not always addicted to porn, which can happen though. I don't think are as cut and dry as you make them out to be, it's like the difference between having a few drinks on a Friday night and having an everyday alcohol problem, it's a spectrum and balance is key, not sliding completely to the other end of the bar.
