  • @kaylinstephens3169
    @kaylinstephens3169 3 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    Busan is in the bottom part of South Korea and the train originates in Seoul, which is in the northern part of SK. The train is a bullet train but it's only about 2.5 hours total so the movie plays out almost in real time. This movie is like 5 years old, so that's why there's no tiktok or anything lol. Used to live in Korea, this movie reminds me of living there strangely enough lol, the crowds in Seoul metro station look like this sometime.

    This screenplay is fantastic. Adding the bit with the bad guy businessman just wanting to get home to his mother added a poignancy and depth to what we all thought was a a stock, cold and cruel businessman. Either he was scared and wanted to get home to his mother as an emotional regression (thus all his actions would be like a child lashing out just to find a refuge) or he was cruel and cold yet cared more about his mother's safety and being there for her protection that he would stop at nothing to achieve that goal. I personally think it was the former and there, with a single line of dialog, the villain becomes humanized.
    I love this movie.

    28:08 It just showed in a slow motion that's why we assumed that there's time for the old woman to get in the another car but in the original speed the whole situation happened in just a second. She decided to be the last to get in even though she knows they have no more time. She made herself a distraction to the zombies for Gong Yoo's character be able to close the door in the right time. That's why her sister keep questioning what's the point of saving those people in the car, seeing their selfishness.

    Explaining the washroom crying scene:
    The main character is a fund manager, and his team made huge profit with a “pump and dump” trick. (Its basically an illegal act of huge companies buying loads of stocks from a mediocre company to hype their stock, wait till individual investors fall for the trap, then sell every stock they own at once)
    The company that’s responsible of this zombie apocalypse is Yusung Bio that comes out in the very beginning(the guy in white protective clothing tells the trucker that some toxic chemical leaked from a nearby biochemical lab). This company wasn’t doing well and it was gonna go bankrupt but the main character uses the company for the pump and dump, hyped the stock ended up saving the company from bankruptcy.
    If they didn’t do that, this company and their lab would have been shutdown already, and it wouldn’t have caused the apocalypse. This is why the main character was feeling guilty!

    not sure if someone else has said this already but i heard that the original ending was supposed to have the selfish business man being the only one to survive bc thats more likely to happen in real life even if its not what we want but the writers figured that him dying would be more satisfying LOL

    • @Raine-97
      @Raine-97 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand. If he had lived though, it would have changed the entire theme of the film. From selflessness, to selfishness. Although it is the most realistic.

    • @sleepysera
      @sleepysera 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Raine-97 I'd say that would actually be less realistic. The reality is that selfishness only gets you so far, because in the end, humans can't live without each other's support. Selfishness is a powerful strategy, but in the end, you WILL eventually need other people, and if you've been selfish the entire time, there will be a point where no one is willing to help you because they've seen you throw everyone you met under the bus (or no one is gonna be alive/around anymore if you sacrificed them all).
      If he hadn't gotten bit on the train tracks, he would have gotten shot at the tunnel, because the soldiers only stayed their hand because of the child singing, which he wouldn't have had. In no reality would he have survived.
      Sadly, overly selfless people don't survive either of course, because they die for others. Like the buff dude.
      In the end, finding a good balance between looking out for yourself and not getting on others' bad side too much is how humans have always and will most likely continue to survive :)

There's pretty much a consensus between audience and critics, regarding it as one of the best film series ever made. High chances are he will like LOTR better than HP. LOTR is a masterpiece in filmmaking and did a much better job of adapting the books than HP did. It was also groundbreaking in motion capture filmmaking. And it wasn't really a Hollywood production because the filmmakers from new zealand managed to get a lot of creative freedom and got out of the control of the studios, which was no easy feat. The roller coaster ride through Fear/Dread/Anger/Sorrow was amotionally draining, but it's a great movie. Kufos to the writer, director, actors, and especially the stunt performers for creating a modern movie Classic. South Korea is eating Hollyweird's lunch; a remake/reimagineering of this movie? Goon Yoo, the protagonist, at that time he was working on a Korean soap opera called Goblin, he played the role of the one known as Goblin, a general of the Middle Ages who was betrayed by the courtiers making the young king believe that he wanted to take the throne
    The king to pressure him into supposedly surrendering took his fiancée hostage, and told him that if he did not confess she would die
    He was going to confess, but that meant the death penalty so his fiancée got himself killed.
    The general affected by the situation did not go against the king but against the counselor who set him up, but they believed that he was attacking the king so they reduced him and executed with his own sword, in addition to throwing his corpse into the fields without burial. so that his spirit will not find peace in the other world
    but the gods for services to them revived him as a Goblin so that he can take revenge, he is an immortal being with great magical powers but wandering alone through the earth until he meets his reincarnated fiancée, she is the only one capable of seeing and drawing the ghostly sword of his chest so that he may rest in peace. In the current era there is a 19-year-old girl who can see spirits and all spirits know that she is the goblin's girlfriend, but she is very young, she does not feel in love with so she does not recognize being the bride of the immortal being and until don't do it, he won't rest in peace ... that's why the goblin seeks to conquer her and take care of her
    She is very good, you should see her, the relationship of goblin with the angel of death is the most comical bromance I have seen.
    To promote train to Busan, they made a commercial short where the goblin goes to the cinema to see the movie with his girlfriend

    To answer your question about whether his company was directly involved in the outbreak so they funded parts of the biotech company which was shown at the beginning of the film, but when things started going south the leak hence when he was looking at the computer the biotech leak was causing a lot of problems so they pulled out funding which in turn didn’t help to control the leak causing things to get out of hand, the symbolism was correct though when he was washing the blood of his hands because of his company he both theoretically and realistically had blood on his hands from the outcome of the leak and for the deaths/zombies caused because of the leak, when you said he saw himself in the business guy he directly saw what his selfishness had been like he saw himself and his past actions in the businessman and the soon to be father boss man he saw what he wanted to be like

    I fell asleep the night I was watching your video so I had to comment this in daylight, lol. 😂 But the way your eyes go “now from the top, make it drop” to catch up with what the subtitles are saying was too funny because that was so relatable. 🤣🤣 You have such welcoming persona and I don't feel that a lot from other commentary channels as some of them seem cocky and arrogant. Just want to say thanks for the great reaction, I truly enjoyed it.
    I will add a handful or so of my top Korean movies which I hope you can at some point find the time to watch and maybe react to.
    - Pandora
    - Flu
    - The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil ( With Ma Dong-Seok )
    - I saw the devil
    - Peninsula (Sequel taking place four years after Train to Busan.)
    - Recalled
    - Rampant (I do recommend watching this before Kingdom. No, they are not related but they are both Zombie films taking place in a historical time period in Korea. So if you aren't familiar with historical Korea it might help. Just a thought. )
    - Kingdom ( This is a Netflix original and puts the walking dead to shame.)
    - Kingdom: Ashin of the North (Watch the first two seasons of Kingdom first.)
