    Man, this is a *GREAT* video! There is no "bad" video out there while demonstrating work like this. Even a video that is the "wrong way to do it" is still 100% helpful to the next guy...it shows them what to look out for, inspire them, learn, etc. Glad you showed the last part...nice!

      Yeah, I think showing what can go wrong is as important as the glitzy pro's who never show a mistake.

    I replaced all 4 shocks on my wife's '82 F100 2 months ago. Today, it was the radius arm bushings.
    I'm so sore right now, and I know I'll really feel it tomorrow!

      For my next act,,,,ill be replacing the front struts and brakes. If mine was an 82, I would pull the hubs,degrease the bearings and repack,but the 2009 doesnt use the old style. You have to replace the entire hub with bearings now.

    • @dirtroadcowboy
      @dirtroadcowboy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did the bearings not long ago. I'm also rebuilding a 1980 El Camino for her. I just finished all the bushings and ball joints, and the wheel bearings are next on my list (I already bought them). I have too many projects! LOL!

    I did mine over the Summer. I snapped 2 of the 4 bolts removing my rear shocks. I live in the north east and rust is a huge factor. Had to go out and buy new grade 8 bolts.
    You're definitely right about it being easier to be pulling down to compress than lifting up!

      Unless your a mechanic for a living, shocks arent something you do often enough to call yourself an expert. I had forgotten how quickly they want to expand. I remember rust. I grew up in enfield Ct.

      I lived in an aprtment complex and the manager hated me because I made such a big deal about people parking in my one and only payed for covered parking space. My wifes car had absolutely stopped moving because the clutch was so bad. She got it into the space and I waited until nightfall. i put the car up on jacks,dropped the tranny, replaced the cluth,pressure plate and throwout bearing, reinstalled the tranny and off the jacks before the manager came back to work. She would have loved to kick me out because when someone parked in my covered,parking space i would demand she tow it, or give me money off my rent.

    Thanks for this video. Great work! Getting ready to replace the rear shocks on my 2018 F150 that is leaking oil with only 45k miles on it! I Have the new shocks now just need to replace them. Your 2nd strut was much easier to replace and your video helped tons!

    Pretty good video on shock replacement. The only thing I found unrealistic was the lack of colorful language. You may be different but when I work on something there is usually SOME swearing. Sometimes there is lots of swearing but maybe that is just me.lol I do know that I wouldn't get anything done if I was trying to video it at the same time. Thanks for all the time and effort you spend making these videos. Phil

    I sell those shocks. The white strap is for shipping. It lets them use a shorter box for the shocks.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It also keeps you from having to try and compress it.

    90,000 miles in humid Louisianna? You may as well be living in Arizona, as I see ZERO rust on that frame. You having lived in S.E. Mass should know what truck frames look like after 90,000 road salt/sand, ocean salt etc. I am SO envious I just may move down there. Nice work on the truck.
