  • in this video i really go in depth about drawing eyes, how to learn the forms of the eye anatomy, and how to use that knowledge to get better at drawing eyes, with a goal of specifically simplifying the eyes so you can get comfortable drawing them. a good side-effect of becoming more knowledgeable about the forms and anatomy of the eyes, is you will likely develop an art style that's more natural to you. rather than noticing the types of eye drawings you like, and trying to emulate that, you will be able to comfortably sketch out eyes with ease with what I go over in the video. Thanks for watching !

    I find the hardest is the Placement usually, Usually i dont have the courage to add the eyes but to just close it cuz i might destroy a beautiful sketch

      entirely agree! i think what helped me get over that hurdle is kind of just doing the reps, doing a LOT of sketchy, 30 second drawings so i could get a shorthand for where i like to place the eyes comfortably. also, this is a cookie cutter generic answer but putting light lines where you THINK they could go can give u a very good feel for where they actually should go. thx for the comment i love having these types of convos : D

      There are rules of placement you can learn, like the eyes are one eye length apart, etc. Check out Drawing Art Academy channel; they always have a livestream going and one of these is 50 rules of portrait drawing. I learned a lot from that.

    The eyes are the window of the soul after all. Makes sense that lot of people wanna learn to draw those first! They can express so much emotions!

    very nice video, as someone who's had style changes of many types, it's always nice to be humbly reminded that no matter where you go on your journey to never forget the fundamentals, "follow your heart, but don't forget to bring your brain" as they say haha

    Man this video has helped solve a major issue I've had with eyes since forever and that is separating the planes of the upper and lower eyelids from the actual roundness of the eyeball itself (I.E when drawing a 3/4 view of an eye) would you ever consider making a video on noses/mouths or hair? I'm at the stage in my art journey where I struggle with those the most.

      im glad it helped you man. i'm not sure i'll be making any tutorials like that any time soon, but i'd recommend checking out Sinix Design on youtube. my content is inspired by his, and he has a large plethora of tutorials that he teaches(including noses, mouths, and hair) :)

    thanks for this tutorial. I really needed to see something from someone who is still learning and is not a full professional yet. when I watch the professional big artists, everyone shows their one perfect way and then when he draws something, everything comes out cool and right away. then when I try his technique, I see that nothing comes out of it and everything looks like shit. XD and then I break down... I missed seeing the learning process of someone who is still learning and that's great, because i can see that learning to draw is a long process and it needs practice. i really thought that i just cant draw nothing.. The way you talk about it is very understandable and transferring eyes into geometric shapes too. And thanks to you, I finally understood the skull 💀☺

    I was having a hard time figuring how the eye should look when the angle of the face changes... And the placement of it i understand it much better after this video but now I can't grasp how the nose and lips would look 😅 it would be really helpful if u could make a video of that too and the placement of all the features on the face (and ys algorithm did a great job u really deserve more subs ) thank you so much this video

      yeah i literally was getting frustrated making this video because i was struggling with what to include and what not to include lolol its so hard to talk about the structure of the eyes without including the nose and even just the facial structure in general :/ after doing this video, i think ill probably put out a video about the way i like the deconstruct the face in totality(gonna be a longer video but w.e) BUT YEAH thanks for the feedback and im rlly glad u enjoyed it!!

    What anatomy books would you recommend?

    • @13zackariah
      @13zackariah  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      constructive anatomy by bridgman is my favorite, but honestly any books/ content can work, i think the more information you absorb the better, whether it be books, youtube videos, classes, or even other peoples art. this helps you get a feel for how other people understand and articulate anatomy and that helps you get a general average. Bridgman helped my anatomy for sure, but most of my anatomy knowledge is from youtube videos and studying other peoples art!

    Sensei please make a tutorial on how to draw anime characters accurately from a reference
    For example: I wanna draw characters from Naruto so I download their pictures from Pinterest in my phone and I draw it in my sketchbook but I end up drawing them no accurately.
    So how to draw them accurately?
    Please make a video on it

    I've heard that the problem with anime style art no matter how fancy they make their eye design it's always flat and it doesn't look curved like in other drawing styles

  • @batsy2488

    idk why im here i already know how to draw eyes

  • @JohnDoe-mb1uu
    @JohnDoe-mb1uu ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm gonna be real you need to work on your eye sockets. You copy the shape of the eye instead of the actual eye socket. There's a lot of other stuff wrong too, to summarize, study more skullz. I'm not a good teacher but that's why your here. I love that TH-cam is promoting newer channels so keep doing what your doing, I put your vids on while I'm taking a break to eat from drawing.
    Also my friend said to me that he's drawn so much stylized he forgot how to draw from reference, what do you think about that??? (I like to try to teach my friends some times.) (it's hard)
