I was never able to watch these performances from Cynthia Rothrock, George Chung and the like, but I read about them in Inside Kung-Fu magazine. I can see why she was so popular a performer, as she did the wushu style forms, but had a "cheerleader " sort of bounce as she moved, it was like wushu american-style. I could feel her enthusiasm while she performed, I'm sure lt was contagious throughout the ctowd that watched. And I know she is no slouch from all the action movies she fought in, I've seen her hit and get hit with no holding back! In all, kudos to Cynthia, and this was fun to watch! Thanks.
I remember competing in the same high school gyms back in the 80's. I was only a brown belt (Karate) at the time but I remember watching you and being truly amazed!
The performance was excellent, that was modern long fist form and not the snake form, the first little part few movements were snake, the rest of movements were in long fist form
I was thinking the same thing. I see little to no snake techniques but generic movements of northern styles done for effect/show. Of course she's extremely skilled and fit, my comment is not about that.
Honestly. This wasn't impressive at all.. She's just hyped by her sponsors.. No power.. No fluidity.. No athleticism.. Just a cheerleader who does chop suey movements..
Her jumping skills were bad actually...all her wushu jumps were done completely wrong...she was doing OK in The hand moves but in The air she was completely lost..really wrong b kick, lotus kick, jump front and tornado...she should had focus more in The jumps and air time!
To be fair, she's clearly fit and athletic. But this form, virtually no snake techniques, was just generic northern movements done for show. It was predictable as I was just waiting for the butterfly kick to appear. But, overall I don't disagree with you.
Amazing and a true legend. Her movies dont do her justice in terms of her skill level and style.
