I doubt so, lootboxes are gone, they're even banned in a few countries as inducing gambling. If anything they'd jump on the very profitable Season Pass model, but they don't need Lootboxes for rarity scores, they're just bs to price stuff more

I've come to hate challenge systems, let alone in 60 euro games. I work 9/5, I'd be paying premium for an incomplete feeling game that wants me to spend more money in an ingame shop and more time to pad their statistics when I just want to come home and relax/play at my own pace.
Of course it does not force me but it does try to coax me and I don't need a salesmen in my home

Yeah I feel you, video games are escapism, and sure they can have challenge, but as soon as they start to feel like real life chores and duties I'm out, I don't need to be reminded constantly of a clock ticking and needing to punch in the hours for menial tasks to get my paycheck, especially when it feels psychologically manipulative out of the box.

Appreciate the update on the game a month after it's launch. "I don't want everything cool in the game locked behind a paywall, but I at least want to think the stuff on offer is cool and enticing." Unfortunately, what I've come to understand about in-game stores (based off my own limited experience in the game industry) is that there's no real incentive for the developers to make cool free/unlockable items when you can just incentivize players to pay money for them. The color palette swaps like camos are really not that difficult for a game artist to create and certainly shouldn't cost what Relic is charging for them. I'm at the point where I just don't think an in-game store should be present in any game that you pay up front for. I'd personally rather pay more money to purchase a game up front if that meant it would never have a store in it. The problem with that though is how do you trust that the developer won't just add one in post launch? I guess that would depend on how much said developer/publisher cares about their reputation as a company which unfortunately, many don't seem to do nowadays.
On the point of mods, what Relic should do is take a page out of Bethesda's playbook and actually encourage mod making. You look at an old game like Skyrim which still manages to turn a profit for Bethesda in large part because of the modding community. No need for an in-game store when people will still buy the game years after its initial release simply for the mods.

They do this shit because nobody releases complete games anymore. They charge you full price and tune it as time goes on. It’s annoying for the consumer, but it’s actually smart of the developers to do this. They get paid and the game gets patched more regularly as they monitor the data unlike the old days where you’d only get a patch when a dlc dropped

Yesterday i had a game on a desert 3v3 map, where my Anti Tank guns and even my tanks all shot into the ground instead of hitting the tank (if there was a hill it was definitely not that high, and it was a victory point). That was really frustrating because 7-10 shots didnt hit...

    • @jandamz1119
      @jandamz1119 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Majority of the units in CoH3 have pretty bad aim, the only ones having good accuracy being machineguns/autocannons.
It still takes 2 and a sneeze to kill light vehicles with an AT gun, yet the one thing preventing them so is how bad their aim is.
They gotta work on some unit's hit chances; although hopes are it's coming with the major balance patch down the line. This most recent major patch is still a balance pass aimed mostly at the most notorious balance breakers just so such things are on even ground compared to the other things in game before doing an entire balance rework.

I played some multiplayer for COH and COH2. I bought the game, mostly for the campaign. I played the COH Campaign a few times, and really enjoyed it. Dawn of War 2, I played that competitively with their multiplayer. I mostly bought the games for the single player campaign. About 70% of the RTS audience may have bought a game for the campaign. One of the biggest turn offs for COH3 was the woke trailers. The woke warning they give prior to the North Africa Campaign, and how they frame the story, makes it uninteresting. COH1, what it did well, was gave a Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers story or experience. That is what sells the game. Given people like the game, they may stick around for the multiplayer. One of the reasons DOW3 failed was due to the developers trying to make something specifically for E-Sports. Given the focus was on E-Sports, and making money, more often then not, it means a lot of game quality will fall short. The focus was off. People with a passion for making a games, and passion for telling stories, they tend to make a good product. Someone just looking to make money, and showing up because it is a job.........They may have been out of touch.

The Store is really badly implemented, although does seem like Relic just "doing it for the sake of doing it because higher ups told them to."
Majority of the funds go to publisher first, then to higher ups on relic, then to the devs themselves. I'm more to believe it's Sega pushing for Relic to have the shop out for the game already more so than Relic themselves.
Overall, this game definitely needed time in the oven, but now that I think of it; that time would've honestly just killed the game from ever getting out. Why do I believe that? Well, keep in mind that CoH as a franchise isn't a flagship title for Sega but more so for Relic themselves.
If it's too costly to justify having a game for a franchise that Sega sees as not as popular as Total War, then why should they give the studio more funds for their project? They would most likely sell the IP or hire a new studio to do it instead who'd do it cheaper.
Also quite a coincidence that the Relic titles that didn't do well on launch were all Sega published. Like, even the most recent Relic title, AoE4, was well received and that was Microsoft published.

If Relic is open to improving modability that's a huge step above them madly calling all modders cheaters back at the release of CoH2, which I remember & which then already prevented modders from bugfixing or adding new content. I want complete modability on singleplayer, which is completely doable separate from multiplayer modes.

Every game, every single game that comes out, it's just always the same. Unfinished, restrictive, feature-poor shadows of better games of yore that use swanky graphics to distract from the undisguised prioritisation of naked profiteering over making something fun that might inspire someone. If Age of Empires 1 came out today, the Iron Age would be added in an update a month after launch, there'd be no scenario editor at all, the Babylon campaign would have a clip-art broken-record-facsimile Hammurabi to tell you over and over to deal with the Elamites... and three missions... and you'd have to pay eight quid to unlock the Hittites. Just stop it. Really, Relic? You? You, who brought us the original Homeworld(s) and Dawn of War? I'm sick of it.

I knew that the bullsh!t from CoH2 will be coming back. They should have just upgraded the old game and added new content to that.
Creative Assembly went a way better route with the Total War Warhammer trilogy. TWW3 had way more upgrades compares to TWW2 and almost all of the older content is still relevant and playable in the newest entry. I pay for quality content, graphics, art and design, animations, music, mechanics et cetera. However, I do not pay for pointless skins in a mediocre game. Just lazy af.

I restarted the Italian campaign about a week ago. I'm having more fun, but it really is just skirmishes with a mild progression system and a wonky strategy layer. The biggest annoyances are bad pathfinding and buggy line of sight right now. If they continue to work on the game and update it I'd be happy.

So 1.1.1 “fixed” the ability to use tuning mods 2 days after 1.1.0 came out. Only because people where using cheat mod to get around the grind for challenges but they did not fix a bug a lot of players can’t even buy items with Merit.

An expiration time on the rewards? Completely inexcusable.
Why not just have the reward be auto-claimed? Someone went out of their way to add that for the sole reason of screwing over players who aren't paying attention, so they can make those players take longer to get cosmetic items and entise them to rather pay for them.

CoH3 will have new Battlegroups with unique abilities and measurable power differences from the free ones.

Challenges are bad, they aren't aligned to the actual game. They are actually detrimental to your team winning, and they don't carry over from match to match. love how you skip the balance changes they done since it only addressed 3 issues (pathfinders, carro and loiter) while not fixing the main issue with is blobbing. the balance is a complete mess currently.

yeah the more i see on the game the more i unfortunately, even as a fan: feel like the series is dead. Im tired of supporting game devs releasing sub par broken games, only to update them slowly over time all while peddling mobile style micro transactions into the game, it feels dystopian and i hate it. Id rather play a single player game at that point, the onky game in recent memory that was able to do a complete 180 from microtransactions and survive was Lord of the Rings: Shadow of War. They were met with so much backlash they removed the microtransactions entirely.
