    The A minor/Harmonic minor scale matrix works pretty good and B 1/2 W diminished over B dim
    altered over G7 and E minor Pentatonic Blues over E7

      " B 1/2 W diminished" can you explain what that means in terms of the scale to use? :)

    • @vaukest5888
      @vaukest5888 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonevans870 "B 1/2 W diminished" can be interpreted as "B half-whole diminished". It's a scale commonly used in jazz, where you start at a tonic, then play up in a half step/whole step pattern until you reach the tonic again.

    Fly me to the moon
    Let me play among the stars

    Would be nice if it switched up the feel a little. By the third chorus I really wanted a 4 on the floor with a walk. Fun to play along to though, thanks!

    yea, it gets more complicated as you go , but sweeter too. Frank played with Nelson Riddle . Some of us punks might not get that far. Start with intermediate and then move to a simpler stack of chords or more advanced if you there. Bang out the leadsheet on piano if ever you lose confidence. Intimidation is not inspiring, right . I believe these videos ( TH-cam) are really helpful. Since Frank is gone., hold your head up and play. I’m sure he’d want it dat way .

      I make it C major/A minor relative. D minor pentatonic will work nicely over the G7/Dm7 chords too, with the II-V relationship.

      Listen to more music! The reason we get stuck in ruts of playing the same stuff is because we haven't trained ourselves with different melodic ideas from different people and we end up playing the same ideas. Listen to other people, other instruments, read transcriptions and listen to how ideas are incorporated into jazz lines, studies, etc. Íts all about balance between your ideas and new lines derived from other people until you can make your own stuff up based on the jazz language that you've learnt.

    Can I get exact chord voicings for that backing track? I'm a begginer in jazz and there is so many of them and my ears are not that well trained to not get confused. I found chords for original song and they are different than yours, I mean your version is in different key, but I can't transpose original voicings to your version. Actually the best will be a video, because except of chords there are a lot of different sounds too.

      You have to thing that the chord progression always changing in this melody. If starts in A minor, as we see, change to A major in the end of compass. So, when this change happen, your improvising changes too. But, try to pentatonic in scale in A minor, that fits well. With the time and study, hearing their sonority, you will understand the style

      7th grade of major scale harmonization or 2nd in minor scale harmonization.
      it's used as the 2 for the minor 2 5 1 or as a substitution for the dominant 7 (in major mode)

    • @schalkjoubert
      @schalkjoubert 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It means that is a minor chord with a flattened 5th. For Bø it means B as a root, D as the minor 3rd, F as flattened 5th and then A as the flat 7. For a full diminished chord (Bo) you have a double flat 7 which will be Ab. For Eø the same theory applies, the notes will be E, G, Bb, D.

      Actually I would say it is C, Am is parallel, but melody builds on C scale.
      Also you can always double check root on the pre last bar, before turnaround, because there are endings of the tune most of the times

    • @jakubborczuch7543
      @jakubborczuch7543 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pavlotreba Sure you can say that. Relative majors and minors have the same notes but in different orders. It's just a matter of context and application.
