Gary Moore, the best MC ever. Gary and Perry Como hosted the best Christmas shows ever. The dancers Minns and James were two of the best jazz dancers in that early B&W broadcast era. What a treat it is to see this. Thanks for bringing this video to us.
Amazing to see after all this time. I was very fortunate to be a student of Al Minns when I was a kid in NY. He taught me how to listen too and feel the rhythm in my head. He was the best!
What a delightful introduction. I’m so glad to experience Minn and James for the first time that all I need is more performances by them. Please give other episodes. They’re so graceful yet so powerful. Thanks to this recording I am blessed.
@princesstav tons of us are so inspired by his dancing and ability to entertain! Does your family talk about him much? I've wondered what he was like. If you were able to interview family members who remember your great grandpa James and share, we would be so indebted & excited! =) Frankie Manning lived so much longer, so it was a real honor to hear him talk about his life and the golden era of the lindy hop at the Savoy. Wish we had the same with Leon James.
This is the way African Americans hid the African martial arts in the dance in North America, see how some of the move resemble the African American Martial Art of Capoeria in South America?
@LindyCompound Krupa does the lip snarl when he's muggin.' xD ..Archer segway.."Why was he dressed up as Hitler?" "wait no, the one with the teeth..Buddy Rich!"
I don't do facebook or anything but my family does - My sister nina would love to hear from a blast from the past- she is on facebook - nina Cecily james.

Welp, it's not a mystery as why he's called "Snake Hips". Wow.
Elvis shore did a lot of snake hip and camel walking.

Trippy seeing these guys break into a stripper dance in the middle of their routine. 😬😬
re celquiera (N)
Looks like Elvis got lessons from these guys
MC Hammer? LMFAO?
It definitly came form swing but i say more like Shaq and not charleston version..
It looks like a lot of different races stole our dance moves lol funny
these guys would be ashamed to see their descendants dance today
White boy shut up , your ancestors would be ashamed you not out burning and hanging blacks from trees , light pole and bridges like they used to do
ribbit
