      You're not the only one.
      I watch a lot of ARMA 3 videos, and it doesn't take more than a few minutes to realize that the majority of ARMA 3 players haven't the faintest idea of what radio procedure is or proper terminology for just about anything. Some of the buttons they constantly press to wind me up are: 1. Calling every vehicle with a machine gun on top a "technical" (technicals are civilian vehicles that have been converted into gun trucks). 2. Calling every road, street and highway "MSR" and "ASR" (Those are terms for designated supply convoy routes, meaning 'main supply route' and 'alternate supply route' respectively). 3. Calling a Russian ZU-23-2 dual antiaircraft cannon a Zeus (Zeus is the NATO code name for the ZSU-23-4 armored antiaircraft vehicle).

    Jingles.... Your seeing open fans, on a section of piping, that is limited to one section of the facility. Yes, ventilation between compartments is quite vital. However, you're right. Having valves between compartments means that the ventilation piping, needs to have a secondary route, around the section that will be closed off. So either there is a centralised ventilation channel, which branches off at each section, or option two, you have one giant long pipe, which brings up the above problem. Where once you close off one section, following sections along the line are disconnected. Hence the need for a secondary pipe that would "go around"
    In the case of the second, single pipe edition, yes, all those fan vents, would need their own iris, or hydrolic hatch closure. So that the pipe itself does not need to be closed, and the pipe does not need to be "broken" like a power circuit.
    Personally, I believe it's a centralised ventilation network, with each section having its own pipe, connected by a hatch to a main pipe. Otherwise, yes. Your concern is very valid...

    You're right, there are iris valves and you just didn't see them because you weren't looking straight ahead as you went, so when you were turning around and stuff you didn't see the iris valves open for your ASE. But if you pay close attention at about the linked time, you can see the hologram silhouette of one of the opened ones through the walls of the pipes.

    That problem took me a while, and to be honest, until you mentioned it, I hadn't realised that one of the switches affected three lights rather than two (so I suppose I was lucky with the state that they were in when I started to figure out the problem).
    Also, I believe the UK rail network took about 20 years (and a number of fatal accidents) to go to a system that would automatically slow or stop trains when a problem was detected, rather than just warn of the problem. The reason was purely down to cost.

    I heard that the "over and out" thing started in Hollywood because originally they were provided with a list of radio terminology, and on it was written "over/out" (as in choose over or out). However, they weren't clear on what was meant, so they had to try and interpret it, and came to the conclusion that OVER meant the message was over and OUT meant they were done transmitting. The second part of what OVER means, that a response is necessary, was completely lost. Since this makes sense from a purely vocabulary perspective, it quickly became "over and out".

    "Over and out" makes sense. It's "I finished transmission, have nothing to add, just awaiting acknowledge." - last message from this side, but reception still active, you go out once you finish. "Alpha to Bravo, you're free to fire. Alpha over and out." "Bravo to Alpha, got it, Bravo out."
    Of course if there is no acknowledgement follow-up this is kinda broken.

    • @MikeKojoteStone
      @MikeKojoteStone 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's just not how radio protocol works. You either say over, if you need any acknowledgment or answer or you say out if you're done. If anybody else has to say anything, they can do so after you're through. It would be rude in a conversation, but you want to make sure everyone who's got anything important to say knows when they can jump in. Unless it's an emergency, for which there are ways to interrupt anyone.

    (4:00) Frank was one of the two guys in that recording from earlier (0:55).
    (6:00) My understanding is a little different. "Over" isn't in much use these days, of course, since it's needed for "push to talk" radios that mean you can't speak and listen at the same time. "Over" means you have finished speaking and released the "push to talk" button. "Out" means the conversation is over, and you're no longer listening. "Over and out" is over kill, but if there are multiple parties to the conversation, it could mean that you're done speaking, and you're leaving the conversation, but other participants can continue.

    • @MrXBT2000
      @MrXBT2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Over" technically means that a response is required though. "Over og ut" is a well established expression in the Norwegian language too, and listed as originating from radiocommunications in an academic dictionary, with a work of fiction as source. The only sort-of-official text I've found so far on prowords for radiocommunication in Norwegian listed "slutt" (end) as the proword used to end the conversation.

    Just to let you know, you have a health bar........
    And yeah, that gate puzzle had me stumped for quite a bit, lots of button bashing and swearing.
    And no, the Indiana Jones railride does not give you loads of time...... I spammed the F key like a nutter just because my timing was terrible......
    It's not immediately obvious but on your backpack, that yellow arrow is one end of your health bar, the slightly grey/white bar to it's left is the rest of it. And since you just ran into the dangling wires, you should have noticed it's appearance.....
    As to to the solution to the airlock puzzle.......
    Change the battery, don't turn off the power with the drone.
    Move character to the case containing the air, use it if you need to. Also search about the lockers, you should find more air in them.
    Use the drone to switch off the power, move character past wires and next to airlock switch
    Use drove to switch on power, use character to cycle airlock...... easy.
    And yes, I am a lot further on in the game, really enjoying it, even if it is a bit on the rails so to speak. I'll not spoil it for you but....... there's a timed event that is made easier with careful jumping in zero g...... not saying anything more than that.

    Did you consider you know turning the airlock back on once you were safely past the power cables perhaps?

    Getting SOMA vibes from this. I would kind of like Jingles to take a look at that game, because it's relatively light on the horror (compared to something like Alien Isolation) and features this same sort of story.

    They want the helium "in place" (out of sight) so no one can say "we're not low on helium"...

    maybe what went wrong is that they trusted the reincarnation of Jingles to turn some device on

    You say "over and out" to signify that you are done with the conversation but if the other person wants to say something you are still listening. If you want to say "I´m done and I´m not listening any more" you just say "out". If you don´t say over and out and the person talking to you wants to say something after you say "out" they have to go "Breaker Breaker" and that´s a pain in the ass. :)

    Aliens, just saying, while this feels like a horror mystery movie, I think aliens might be involved if only slightly.
