absolutely she is an extraordinary singer and she has a beautifull and wonderfull voice there are few singer with her voice.i´ve never listened a singer like her
I love Renee Fleming. But my favorite performance of this aria will always be of Grace Bumbry, singing at the first Kennedy Center Honors for Marian Anderson.
@@thisisopera9724 she is a supreme singer. She is among the greatest ever recorded in the opinions of many. People like you are like pigeons as a chess partner. They jump onto the board, kick off the figures, shit on it and act as if they had won. Like I always say. You can have your taste and preference and dislike her singing. But to call her a bad singer is simply incorrect.
i dont know if i like it! i can see that part as a sob after saying something really dramatic. one hand it can make u feel really sorry for tosca (like she is extra pitiful at this point) but on the other, i like this part more declamatory. idk if this makes sense,...just how i feel when i listen to vissi darte and compare it to other versions.. also it seems a little self indulgent..
I love her voice when she sings aría that don't have rapid movements like those arías for Coloratura voices. I heard her singing the aría "Sempre Libera" from la traviata and didn't like it. Don't get me wrong coz I'm a fan of hers, it's just that, I love her voice singing arías with no such movements like , thrills, runs etc.... just pure line of beauty😍😍😍😍😍😍
The first time I heard Renee Fleming was when she was one of the winners of the Metropolitan Opera's Council Auditions in 1988. My partner, an artist manager, who was there scouting for singers to add to his roster, pointed out that she did not have the most technically efficient voice of the females that sang that day. I told him that perhaps he was right, but that she had something the others did not have -- that extra indescribable quality that a person either has or doesn't -- star quality. It's not all about technique. I have been a fan of hers since that spring day in 1988 and will remain so. However, I don't think Tosca is a good role for her.
If I had been in the audience I would have been on my knees with tears running down my cheeks as I am now. This is even better than Dame Caballe and I never thought I would have to say that.
It's really ridiculous to compare the great sopranos with each other. (like good, better, or best) I''ve been a fan of Fleming for years, but I'll never say she's "the best." Each of these women bring something wonderful to their art: Fleming, Price, Callas, Gheorghiu , Caballe....all of them. One or another may be "your favorite" but it shouldn't be at the expense of another such soprano, I don't think. FWIW.
When artists as themselves feel the overwhelming vibrations of their own instrument and interpretation becomes of once their own, why must you consider comparison as to other artists of the very same aria. The impression of intention is what is being conveyed. Of all sight perhaps the viewing and hearing of your own site might be interpreted as wrong. I dohowever feel the world makes of wrong argument, making what the intention was to be of the aria. For this I know as to what was trying to be conveyed as it was I inside of this, the soul on this, that one performance day. Learn as to enjoy the performance given from the soul not as interpretation of how each and all artist gave. As to each artists is of so much variant different of their instruments. Audience learn to behave.
why is she smiling so much AT THE END!!!! RIDICULOUS given what she is singing about !!! this also is effecting the chiascuro of her tone...the smiling is artificially lightening her tone and taking out the darker timbre that would give more gravitas to her tone
She's not singing this at The Met where you ridiculous critics perhaps flock and hurry about with your schoolyard critiques. She's singing for a crowd that will Love it the way she is singing it. You're just jealous because she's World famous and you're a nobody.
I'm glad that - as far as I know - she never sang the whole role: she sounds better doing lighter stuff than this. Her middle here gets a "swallowed" quality which I simply don't find enjoyable.
Interestingly enough in her book she talks about how the middle range of her voice / the middle tessitura required of many sopranos is the weakest part of her voice. Apparently it took years of development to get the Mozart right- and this is why she steers clear of Puccini/Wagner/Bel canto
Trying to use Maria's tricks on this aria, but poorly executed. The tone sounds weird, every note was disconnected, to the music as well. Very wrong emotional expression, you can tell she just like singing an isolated song, like any pop american song, she didn't (or just unable) express any desperation or anger of Vissi D'arte suppose to project. So that's why she is NOT and never ever a successful opera singer, she is just another cheesy Bel Canto style singer from USA, only American think she is good enough ~ My God ~ She just doesn't know what she is doing ~
+Morgan Alan You idiot, Learn to speak english before talking shit. She's not performing an opera. Take away the video and just listen. You foreigners are so stuck up sometimes.
+Jacob Moreno Singing opera aria in a recital mean she is not singing opera. Yes you are right, she can't able to sing opera, like Susan Boyle, Sarah Brightman. Sing in big vowel and mumbling consonants to fool the ignorance like you~hahaha.
I think she cant be compared to susan boyle or sarah brightman .. She is another level.. You dont have to like her but it is a childish behaviour to say that she can not sing opera.. I am laughing at you as well.. I adore Callas she was singing with the passion like nobody else, but never had as pure voice like this woman.
renee fleming is a force..period!!!!
supreme beauty
She has such an amazing instrument
Impossible to not love this woman.
Renee Fleming is one of my most favorite sopranos! She is a true artist.
Such impossible beauty… Renee you are the siren of the earth you give me chills every time!!!
Every single time I listen to this she still gives me chills on this one… So damn beautiful and sad at the same time. Renee… You are just amazing
I heard this a while back; I keep coming back to it when I want to listen to this song
Such a marvelous diva as I remember "the earrings, were stolen yet back with Renee again. How I Miss you so.
absolutely she is an extraordinary singer and she has a beautifull and wonderfull voice there are few singer with her voice.i´ve never listened a singer like her
This is an exquisite version!
She was really in good voice, I love it too
Simply amazing!! The way she makes me feel musically and emotionally is overwhelming!
I respect her for many reasons. Not my favorite singer but she does an outstanding job here. Wow. Amazing
The only criticism possible here would be that perfection is an affront to the gods, whom she must thereby have offended.
Not mine either🎉bad technique. Listen to golden era singers
she is really amazing, not many opera singers can sing with such expression and feeling. its quite rare actually
Callas, Radvanosky, Fleming are my favourite 3 female singers
Agreed there are not many sopranos who are great actresses AND great singers
I have to see her live before my demise!
Tears of joy.
She sounds as beautiful as ever. And I've always loved that gown on her!.
역시 세계 최고다~!!
I love Renee Fleming. But my favorite performance of this aria will always be of Grace Bumbry, singing at the first Kennedy Center Honors for Marian Anderson.
3:17 unreal vocal beauty....
Lohengrin O goosebumps... Wow that was amazing!

@@mugrad25 I like Sondra Radvonosky's interpretation of this better but I still love her La Traviata and basically anything else she sings!
She nailed it!!!!
Depois de Leontyne Prince pra mim Renee Fleming e a melhor soprano voz maravilhosa.
i began to cry
for the beauty of this
Renee, Angela Gheorghiu y Raina Kabaivanska lo hacen genial esta aria

I'm the exact opposite of you lol, but still a fan of Fleming too
Yiu are right. She is not a coloratura. Fleming excels in roles like The Countess in La Nozze de Figaro. A great artist nonetheless.

Agree, but I like her Traviata a lot and her Eugene Onegin, but here, her voice seems not as nice
If I had been in the audience I would have been on my knees with tears running down my cheeks as I am now. This is even better than Dame Caballe and I never thought I would have to say that.
Since when was Caballe a dame?
LOL probly when she was very young...
Everett, make sure you listen to her performance of Rusalka that's here on TH-cam (from London). I'm on my 3rd box of Kleenex.

Tosca is begging the count to save her lover, who’s being tortured in the next room
Girl... no
Tebaldi ,Callas ,Caballe forever ...

povero Puccini, sembra un gatto che miagola
D'accordo
non concordato
Gosh wish Fleming would leave out all the extra acting fluff, she would sound way better.
