I am a 40 volter now, jumped over in the last while. After having been on the yellow team, and also the red team, I am now on the blue team also. I play for 3 teams. I am very excited about their new toolboxes, the orbital sander, the breaker, basically all of it. I really love the 40V line now, they are simply better tools. Great video, I enjoyed it and learned a lot abou this big moves by Makita.
More well designed Makita products. Makita is sometimes slow to bring new things to market but they are always sturdy and fit for purpose. The MAKTRAK will be a big winner in Australia with a well thought out design that we have come to expect from Makita..... 😎🇦🇺👍
I appreciate that each newcomer to the storage game has brought something distinctive, but I'm not sure if Makita's innovations are going to be enough to set them apart in a crowded marketplace. It's becoming a challenge for tool stores to find enough floor space to display all this!
@jamesparish7234 good point did not think of that. The truck bed thing is nice…the other weekend I put the Milwaukee pack in the truck bed and was a pain. But usually use the trailer so it’s not a problem
22:12 I have a old Ryobi that is corded but I thought it was the only one that could flip over on its back and you could bring the material to the sander in a way that was much more controllable way for finer details. Kudos to Makita for recognizing this situation. 👏
Good evening TS from east Tennessee. Looks like Makita has released some pretty cool tools. Makita fans should be very pleased. Thanks for another great video.
That I hear from all the new tools is that makita is clever, maybe it’s like a copy of the other tool brands, but they pick all the details or failures on the other brands to make better tools, that’s nice
Makita is the founder of battery-operated tools; they literally created the first cordless drill in like the late 80's Every other company is copying their idea.
I'm hoping they will upgrade them when we finally start seeing tabless 18650 cells, would be nice to keep the more compact form factor with the extra power.
I’ve worked in construction all my life, gotten used to the noise of power tools (even the multi tool) but someone’s idea of music is a noise all on its own, If I pull up at a job and I can hear the site radio, I’ll get back in the truck.
At 18:45 I had the same idea years ago, not for a sander but just tools in general. It’s just so practical in certain situations. Another practical application for it, is with like a 15 foot cord so you can hang a light on the ceiling and change the battery from the wall. It’s a safety thing, you don’t have to climb up on the ladder continuously to change the battery from a work light. They can even sell it as an adapter, to work with your existing lights .
I LOVE the fresh take on the packout. But if your boxes are loaded down, the weight is more so on the handlebar rather the wheels. A model where the handle bar folds an additional 60+ degrees for rolling would solve that
Been waiting for so long for makita to come out with a pack out. And new stuff. Been a makita user for 16 years, almost had lost hope and wanted to switch to Milwaukee.. but tbe battery prices kept me with makita...
That's a lot of great innovation with great coverage on your part (as always). That sander in particular seems great;looking forward to reviews. Also, the graco paint sprayer.. good lord do I need that. However, with the scale of what it does, I thought it would be in the 400-600 range.. not 2k (CAD). That's rough.
Not a killer - just another quality option, which is great for the market. I have both Milwaukee and FLEX and both have their strengths and weaknesses. I do love the Makita’s even larger latches and will most likely buy at least that rolling tool cart. If Makita came out with with their Outdoor Adventure green or blackout, they’d get tons of sales. Especially from the Overland world!
I'd REALLY like to see adapter plates for that Makita rolling box, from Stack Smarter. That way I could get the big Makita box, and snap on my PACKOUT to the top of it.
I was satisfied with the toughsystem 2.0 and the Tstak boxes, but as it seems at first glance, the new boxes from Makita seem to me to be superior to all of them.
16:04 The Makita's base is NOT well designed on WEIGHT LIFTING...Meaning you have to pick a full toolbox from the FLOOR up to your WAISTE to push toolbox... If any one has any type of back issues they in trouble... lifting that weight from the floor.... Other than that, the took box are well designed.. the way they connect and double hinge... Tell them to come up with a standard base...No need to invent something that's worked for years...PULL DOLLY BASED ESIGN. Great work guys presenting all the tools!!! Keep up the great work!!!
1:52 Please correct me if I am wrong. The BCC01 can charge any Makita XGT battery. The BCC02 can only charge up 4 ah XGT batteries and smaller capacity. The 5 ah and 8 ah XGT fits only in the BCC01. Eight 8 ah XGT batteries is 64 ah total. Twelve 4 ah XGT batteries is 48 ah total.
I love the new sanders, but I really need Makita to make a tiny sander for small space detail work. The Bluetooth connection on the router is nice, but I did notice that the time it takes the vacuum to stop after you shut down the tool is a bit long in comparison to others. The storage containers do need a drawer box choice and it needs a bracket or slim box to store the tracks for a track saw.
Makita needs to create more XGT tools for construction. Like why do we have a million grinders but we still don't have a compact 40v Bandsaw? Or a 40v drywall cutter? Or a small 300w or 600w inverter? They keep making circular saws but there's tools that don't even have one version out.
Ergonomics and weight distribution. This is a whole different beast than cordless sanders you've used before. If you've ever used a festool, mirka, 3m sander etc, this is much more like those but battery powered. I do high end residential wood work, I ordered this sander from Japan a few months ago, when it got released there.
I like the packout! I went with a Craftsman one which was cheap and didn’t advertise my Makita tools 😂 Seriously though, that’s the rough part… you see the Makita color and know there’s some expensive stuff there, and so do the bad guys.
I'll be waiting until they come out with a good selection of drawers until I even think about leaving packout. I love my packout drawers. I almost went with Toughstack but they didn't have the 4 drawer and they didn't have a modular 3 drawer when I bought my packouts.
The Oackout system offers different kinds of drawer boxes. Also, keep in mind it's a portable tool storage solution, not a workshop product although it can be used as such and it's the same thing here... Drawers donbe amazing though.
before my Milwaukee tool 13 years ago i have Makita tool but with time they weren't improve that much and as an example you see they did'nt make a smaller battery yet they always stuck with a big 40 v that can't compete with the other brand
Very interesting items. Too bad here around Indianapolis I won’t see 99% of this stuff. I’d like to try other brand than the usual Dewalt, Milwaukee, or Festool. So rare to see a Makita tool in the stores around here anymore.
It's cause Makita Japan is focused on gardening and surviving earthquakes (microwave, Kettle etc). Construction has not been their main focus. I 80% XGT but they need to push harder towards construction guys. Like you said the multi battery charger should be the new style. Now instead I'll be installing milwaukee packout clips on the bottom to mod it on to my packouts.
Why wouldn’t they put the power stack tech into the 18volt batteries? Those batteries haven’t had an update in a very long time and that size is way more useful for the work I do rather than the much larger 40v stuff.
Just a random opinion of Makita tools. I really liked 2 of the battery powered drills I bought some years ago until all of the batterys bricked one by one. F Makita, will never buy your tools again. Heard there was a class action lawsuit over this but I could be wrong.
I have 4 - 18v 3a batteries from 14 years ago that still charge and run, and I am talking about my job tools being used 5 to 6,7 days a week sometimes. Started with... 14 years ago = 4-18v/3a batteries / 1-18v circular saw / 1-18v Sawzall / 1-18v impact & drill / 1-18v angle grinder / 1-18v flush cut I have bought more tools and batteries since then; I have not smoked a single battery and I don't pay attention or give a sht when I charge them, the only tool that I have ever wore out of theirs is my angle grinder, but that was me cutting a billion miles of FRP a 10 ft long rips in commercial kitchens for 12 years (died 2 yrs ago apx) without ever blowing out all that fiberglass dust and it was jam packed full. I can imagine another brand going through the sht i have put these through at work plus my absolute neglect. FYI... If you bought your stuff new and paid anything less than full price, there are some fakes being sold online from time to time, and Makita will do pack deals, but don't go on sell, your going to pay $99 for the 18v 3a and you might get a free drill with it working your way up to 4 & 5a
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Do they realize that this is going to irritate the people that have stuck with them since forever, quite intensely? Why would they bother sticking with their platform for this. I for one, would not invest in their system because I have several of their systainers that can be transported on Festool dollies and would not spend the money on a system that does not support it. I am quite disappointed.
Based on this it seems that there is a big push to XGT. Where are all the LXT products? Is Makita not innovating there? I find I don’t need the larger, heavier XGT line in the majority of situations. The pack out was the highlight. I just got a 30 degree cordless (from another brand) and it’s great for when I need tondo some rough work. Not sure I’ll make the switch to Teal. Would like to see a nice corded table saw. Just got the latest Bosch. Not interested in a cordless TS.

Are they going to make them compatible with old makpacs? If not, why are they still designing tools and battery boxes with the old makoac system. Like the floor sweeper, vacuums, battery chargers, etc...
I think the Maktrak is an interesting system. I don't think it's a Packout killer, plus the Packout system offers the large base if you want to go horizontal. But anyways, the problems are always going to be the same, organisation and weight. There is no need to make absurdly large boxes if you can't organise them... I think where Makita missed the point, is lacking the compatibility with the Makpak system, which would make Maktrak compatible with all systainers, something Packout lacks, and it would have set Maktrak appart from the others, but they haven't. Oh well... I do also think that at some point, you will not be able to load your tool carrier by yourself, it gets way too heavy very quickly.
Interesting. Though I saw nothing I really wanted. The tool box is nice…but the wheel base is wrong…you have it full of tools ..plus the added boxes full of tools and stuff…you’re not easily , if at all ,getting that thing up to roll. The center of gravity will be all wrong. Neat idea…poor execution. Of course it’s my opinion. Live confidently and peacefully
I’m glad to see Makita stepping up. If they could offer big batteries like Milwaukee? And have a better warranty?? They’d be hard to not buy from. Milwaukee’s big batteries and warranty of said batteries has gone to 💩 unfortunately ….

Unfortunately, we ran out of time and were not able to cover them. I'm willing to bet Rob Robillard will feature them on Tool Box Buzz. Be sure to check him out.
If u want to beat a high quality full range storage system u must launch a full range storage system. And not a part of a system with the possibility of some new features in the future. This base wheelbox will lie on the ground u always have to bend over to open it up with fully loaded boxes on top of that. Sorry folks red is king.

@@clevernamehere7559 bingo. Each tool I bought came with 4 Batteries and a double charger so I have plenty of good chargers. I buy my tools from a local Professional Tools Store and they run special purchase packages.
Is it just me or is the fact the guy with the framing nailer says weight was such a concern yet they use the external battery form factor on the friggen sander kind of a big oops? I want royalties Makita.
Sanders look awesome, but adding a cord just to connect a battery is almost counterintuitive. No one, even with an armband, wants another cord attached to their sander.

If u want to beat a high quality full range storage system u must launch a full range storage system. And not a part of a system with the possibility of some new features in the future. This base wheelbox will lie on the ground u always have to bend over to open it up with fully loaded boxes on top of that. Sorry folks red is king.
lol at majority of people moving there stacks in pick up trucks. Accurately you would say most people are moving them in cargo vans and in closed trailers
I can charge 20 batteries at the same time. Mount 10 double battery chargers on a piece of plywood with a handle and voila.
What u did was buy broken or old chargers and I did just that, all over the shop wall and cabinets and shelves. Work great.
Still no 21700 for the 18V System…
Not yet.
To bad the batteries is insane expensive they must be stuffed with gold!
When did a piece of plastic cost 250
Time stamps would be good
Dewalt battery on a sprayer 😆
23:24 you can tell he doesn't shoot lol
No cordless bench top planer. 😭😭😭
Just curious. What kind of work do you do that would be bennifited from a cordless benchtop planer. You don't mean a handheld power planer right?
Sanders look awesome, but adding a cord just to connect a battery is almost counterintuitive. No one, even with an armband, wants another cord attached to their sander.
They should make a vacuum hose with power as part of it. That’d solve the problem for many users.
Hey Sarah any baby chainsaw battery powered tool when u were their
Makita fanboy here..been waiting on the modular storage solution..love everything except for the main rolling unit..Total fail imo.
is tabless on 18 volt
Seems like they’ve abandoned the 18v platform for a while already
@nakahili539 they should make a connector 40 v to18v to get more power
To late to much cash for me makita tool boxes...
