RC Quick Tips - Fixing Arduino Verify/Compile Errors

- Over the recent weeks I have had a number of subscribers who are struggling to configure their OSD and Multiwii technology. A lot of these issues are caused by using the latest version of the Arduino compiler with older sketches and programs.
Using an older version of the Arduino compiler will allow the sketch to compile and avoid some of the more common errors you will find.

You should clarify that you had 2 different boards selected between the IDE versions you showed. That makes a difference and if could have been nothing more than pin assignments between board types. Its always important to ensure the right board type is selected. That said, good tip on using different IDE's - I do this all the time. Also note that the libraries loaded between the two could be the cause as well.

I have a question, I bought DJI 2212 920KV Brushless Motor for a V tail quadcopter. They are all 4 right hand thead. I have them all spinning the correct way by changing the wiring. The question is can I use all CCW props self tightning. The props I bought that use a nut on top will not fit and only CCW self tightning props do fit.
Roger Bowen If the threads are all the same way then two of the motors will spin off the nuts if they get loose. Be carful to nip up the props and consider using locking nuts rather than the spinners as they are less prone to coming loose in my experience.Best of luck.

Excellent advice. I use the Arduino for a variety of projects nothing to do with RC and contribute to the Arduino support forum. There are many problems with the new software and old programs and libraries and as a result I have steadfastly refused to update the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment).

but unfortunately my 2 stepper motor are not moving
os i think to know where is fault? motors or motor shield!! so i download testing code and when im uploading it says 'error exit status1' what i do now sir ??

*The reason why i am having an error compiling is because the sketch is not compatible to the new version of Arduino software. Right? So I have to download the previous version instead in order for it to work, Right?*

I guess you are using two different Arduino boards configuration for compiling.....in Arduino ide ver1.6 you are using Arduino mini and for Arduino IDE ver.1.0.5 you are using Arduino nano.
I'm getting an error " exit status 1 expected ')' before ' ' token arduino " how to fix it?
If you do a Google search on the error your find it something wrong with the linking or compiling of the code. Check that you’ve got everything you need and it’s all ready to compile. Best of luck

I am a beginner, and I have trouble uploading a code to the arduino and motor shield. I have downloaded the other 2 files. I can't upload the code while the arduino is attached to the motor shield, but I can upload the code to the arduino when it does not have the motor shield. I get this error message when I try to upload the code: avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\\.\COM1": The system cannot find the file specified.

I have checked the device manager (I have windows 10), and it says that it is connected to COM1. Any advice? Thanks!
