Huge progress. One suggestion depending on what you plan to have on upper floors is to add a steel column to provide additional support to the wall that is supported by a footer and possilby steel column in center of house. The idea of supporting alot of weight with just the pockets in a brick / stone wall is a 19th century approach. Also your new steel columns could be 50% heavier than the original. We also dont know how structurly sound the walls are.
@Dan As you're about to need new bricks to move up and rubble to move down, why don't you install a two buckets system ? You only need a steel wire and two idlers ; 1. fill in the bucket at ground floor with new bricks/mortar 2. climb ladders 3. fill in the upper bucket with rubble of same weight + one feather and it will move freely, letting you collect new bricks at the top without spending energy :)

I find it magical how Nick, by just running over and over the rubble with the digger, is able to transform it into a useable driveway! How did you learn of Nick? Nick must have an interesting background - betcha it would make for a TV movie or an episode in TV series.
Bravo Dan! I've been watching TH-cam for more than a decade. This is the first time I've felt inspired enough to comment! Your project and the way you build your videos ... brilliant! Congrats and keep going!

That was very nice of Stephanie to set you up with a picnic table. I am a subscriber to her channel and think she is such a sweet lady.. Love your videos as well Dan. You keep working like you are and the chateau will be done in no time.
If you decide to have working camp sessions for kids at she chateau, Nick would be a great teacher - environmental landscaping. The kids would respect him, learn a lot and they - and we - would then go forth and spread his techniques, understanding and point of view. And your problems are fun for your viewers. My son, a master carpenter, and I spend many minutes designing your roof and figuring out great ways to build it/them. Also, have a distant cousin, also an inventor and artist, who has happily lived in a yurt, in a cold climate in the USA, for years.

The grounds are looking fabulous, the beams are a step forward and you living in something besides a tent is a wonderful thought. Can't wait to see the roof finally go on, then you can be indoors when you replace all that lime mortar!
I can’t believe the progress, Nick, Cameron, Calvin and anyone else who I’ve forgotten are such good friends and you’re doing amazing work. It’s funny, when I see the digger moving at normal speed it seems like nothing is being achieved and then when you put it on Timelapse it’s amazing!
I am so beyond proud of you. You sure make it look so easy and scary all at the same time! When you talk about a roof in 2-3 weeks my smile was so big it hurt! Dancing for joy over here in San Diego, Ca.
Praise God for Dan and the team getting the job done safely and thanks to Stepanie for contributions. It's on now! The stone work is gonna be beautiful. 😊
I watch a British programme on BBC1Called “Homes under the Hammer” it’s basically people buy a derelict (sometimes) house at Auction then do it up and either sell it or rent it out for profit. Most people have a team of builders, plumbers electricians etc in to do the work and it can take anything from a few weeks for something that just needs minimal work like a redecoration and maybe new kitchen and bathroom to two or three years for a new build or a near complete rebuild of an existing house. When I see what Dan has achieved ok with some help, but a lot he’s done alone it’s absolutely incredible how much he has done so far. Who’s on for a bet he’ll be eating this years Christmas dinner in the Chateau!!
Every day we watch your videos and are just completely in awe of your work ethic - you just get on and do it..! When you winch up the pulley for heavy things, pull your shoulder blades together at the back first and then use your arms to pull and winch. You’ll be using better muscles and put less strain on your lower back muscles, your shoulders, and your arm or elbow tendons and lower your risk of bursitis and tendinitis. Only the 2 of you is like having 4+ guys. Nice job. Glad you didn't catch fire today. 😊The forest area looks SO peaceful and beautiful with the light streaming through and the sounds of the birds. I'm happy you found a yurt. It's going to be awesome. And so nice of Stephanie to see the need for your picnic area. That and the new grill will really get a lot of use. Wasn't it Nick who made the table out of LaLande's trees? Dan, the shot at 5:33 would make a wonderful print to sell. 🥰🎄
Indeed, I agree with you & rosferguson...The video shot & 5:31-33, looking across the beams to the 1st floor main hallway all the way through to the other side of the chateau was lovely...very rustic, old world ambiance vibe.
Y'all have good eyes...I went back to check it out.🙂
Please watch the adds so dan can continue to pay for labor materials and equipment. 👏👏
And always click "like" before viewing. 75K views but only 12K likes 😢. It costs nothing to like a video.
Yep ... I always click on Dan's site when I am doing work on other sites ... just leave it running in the background (sound down) ... so he gets ad. revenue etc..
Every time from me .. a LIKE
The ads provide a very minimal amount. Subscribers are where the money is.
Nick in that front loader running around looks like it came straight out of Dr Who! In fact, this whole adventure is like Dr Who ! Thanks Dan, it is really exciting. 😊
More like Mad Max I think.😊
I heavy metal music in my head when he works!! 😂😂😂
I just love watching Dan. Always glad to see Nick, such a worker!!! Hard to express appreciation.
Great to get the beam in. Nick is doing a nice job on tidying up the driveway. Your tipping along nicely. See you tomorrow!😂
Your boys are going to be so proud of you when they grow up and watch these vlogs. The progress made already is astounding - it's amazing to watch and feel part of.
Every comment helps with the algorithm even if it's only to say well done.
What a joy to watch your enthusiasm and progress. I knew you had it in you to go big on TH-cam 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 All the best. Anders🇩🇰
We are so happy for you! You’ve come so far in what seems like a short time. It’s a obsession to see you what you do every day! Your dogs seem to really be enjoying the Château!
This is literally the most exciting channel I've watched.
Nick is such a godsend! So great to see him help you with that beam. He has a great wealth of knowledge. Bravo to Stephanie for giving you the Weber. I assume that’s what you meant about the bbq sponsorship 😁
Best building/restoration project on YT. Can’t believe the pace that its rising out of the ashes with only a small crew.
I cannot believe you'll have a roof before summer is out! This is incredible.
I just love that look at the end of each video, you know, that look of SEE, see what I've accomplished, I look forward to that every day, just feeling your thrill of it all makes me smile...a yurt, how fun...!
Dan, Your enthusiasm is infectious. I've been following you for quite a while and I've never seen you look so happy and it's all so well earned. I'll certainly 'see you tomorrow' and I can't wait either.
Soo exciting to see the different levels go in. I can't wait to see Calvin's expression on his next visit.
Your BBQ area (fab, love it) was sponsored by Stephanie Jarvis - delighted she did that for you. I follow both your channels every week from the Stunning Deep South of New Zealand. I know its a lot of hard work for you to publish every day, but I adore coming home from work to see what you’ve achieved. You are a hard worker, and deserve all the wonderful things that will come your way ❤❤❤
there are a few of us South Island kiwis enjoying this channel.😃
this is my kind of jam. watching the construction process. so much to learn by watching. dont' ever apologize if you dont talk to the camera. it is educational and EXCITING!
I went to this chateau when I lived in the Auvergne several years ago. I'm so happy to see someone crazy enough to take it on. Wonderful
WHAT A DUO ✅✅✅✅ Incredible partnership ...... in fact I’d say you are “ ON ANOTHER LEVEL” DAN 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The grounds are looking fabulous, the beams are a step forward and you living in something besides a tent is a wonderful thought. Can't wait to see the roof finally go on, then you can be indoors when you replace all that lime mortar!
A yurt is a tent albeit on a grand scale. At least he can have a woodburning stove in it for the winter. The boys are going to love it.😊
I am so happy when I see jumping for joy. I am so glad that Nick and boys are helping you for another week too. God bless you all!
I’m so thankful that every night your vlog arrives before I go to bed! It relaxes me seeing all your hard work paying off 🤩👍
I swear Dan could have built the pyramids on his own!
Then it is a mansion not a chateau
I think Nick would be there, calmly lifting the blocks.
@@danielbond9755 ...building the pyramids was another life time...
Amazing Amazing Amazing Dan is the man ❤
What do you think he's doing on Sundays?
If Dan can't do it, no one can. Sing it!!😊🎉
Dan and Friends!
Every day we watch your videos and are just completely in awe of your work ethic - you just get on and do it..! None of the crap about how much you’ve spent on something, you just say what you’re going to do and do it. This reflects in the consistent numbers of views of your views and your content. Thank you and keep up the work..!☀️👍🏻
It’s actually a pleasure to watch the ads (most of them anyway) and hope that it helps Dan’s TH-cam revenue.
It definitely helps. It's how he gets paid by TH-cam
I love that little machine of Nicks, it's a Trojan. He can make it do anything.
Smiling the whole time I'm watching this! And Stefanie Jarvis, thank you for providing Dan and everyone giving a hand a wonderful dining experience. Dan and crew deserve to dine, not just eat, but dine, enjoy, replenish so that they can put in a hard day's work.
Hoping she also got him some new tongues, so no more green chips😅
@@patricianathan4676 I bet she did. 🙂
Morning Dan . I dont know about anyone else but am addicted to your channel.Lovw how you all work so hard every morning to restore this amazing building .Keep safe and keep up the great work .
My name is Denise and I am an addict 😂
@@deegillaspy1939 lol
A scaffolding that does not sway in the wind. much safer. I really enjoy your huge project and your videos.
Dan, please wear some safety glasses when using that leaf blower, you could be in serious trouble if you get an eye full of stone/brick dust.
Glad you have Nick and Cameron next week, it really helps you push on.
A Yurt, how exciting, you will have a home from home with a proper bed, being able to stand up, very posh. I would love to have a holiday in one of those.
I see you little dog was pooped from all the activity.
Don't tell him about breathing in all that stone dust 😁 google "Stone Dust Exposure"
Nick is a treasure! I’m seriously impressed with how much you have acheived in such a short time, its truly incredible 😊
Hi Dan, You're certainly not taking baby steps on this restoration. You've tackled it head on and the effort by you and your invaluable team has paid off. Keep up the great work, I can't wait until we are able to see the full profile of the Chateau when the roof is rebuild. I've seen the earlier pictures. I'll be holding you to the details. Mark & Scott
Building a roof is going to be mesmerizing
Yes. I can't wait for the roof construction to begin. He will definitely need help with that. I hope he can access a lift for that.
Is it going to be flat or a Mansard? I don’t remember from the photos
@@grandmabeth6986 l think it was a high pitched hipped roof. Personally l would not make it as high and steep as the original. It looked massive.
I truly hope he is hiring experts to do the roof and is not attempting it himself but I seem to remember him saying it might be a temporary structure that he's building.
@@bryanspindle4455it is restoration, so you expect it too be as high as in the past, it might be challange, but Dan cam pull it off, believe me! The end result will ve gorgous en wortwhile, the effort and wait!
Anybody else would've looked at that old burned-out shell of a chateau and thought just knock it down and get it over with. But not you! You saw a treasure to be saved. Now there's 238,000 people watching you put it back together. Just wow! 🥰
Dan ol chap, your excitement is infectious. I know I'm not the only one who looks forward each day to see what new progress is made. Heck, even on days that don't go as planned, we commiserate with you. The days that go well, we celebrate your daily victories. As always, great video, great job, great googly moogly.
❤
So nice of Stephanie for the grill!
Yay, you've leveled up and are closer to a roof. Plus a yurt is coming....how cool is that! Have a great weekend Dan. Heard it's going to be a hot one. Take care
Best picnic site view in Europe from that gorgeous big garden picnic bench .
stay the course on your channel! no gimmicks just the real you is enough. My favorite channel.. simple and honest.
Lovely to see Stephanie caring about your camping comfort😊
Nick is such a great help, the forest is looking amazing....everything is changing for the better so quickly.
SuuuperDoooper Beams are in ! Congrats Dan and Nic! And What, a Yurt? Fantastic! You'll be much more comfy living in there!
Well done, Dan! Nick is such an superb asset! Enjoy your weekend! You have certainly earned it! Ty!
Gotta love Stephanie Jarvis, she takes care of her friends.
Especially as a lean body type. I learnt this the hard way with renovation work!
Fantastic news Dan. I never realised when I started watching you how much I would get hocked on watching the program but I really am. I just wait to see what your next job is so thank you and I’ll. see tomorrow 👍👍👍👍
That view up to the chateau today was beautiful where Nick was clearing. Beauty of what is to come.
Dan you and Nick are masters at working these beams! Nick is a master at spreading and making use of all the bubble. Looks so good. I so hope you have help getting the roof on Dan! Be careful and all the best to you.
Well done to you both 😁 you’re getting nearer to getting a roof on 😁
