    I knew you would make it but when Alan said you did South Col to summit in five hours I was amazed. Especially with the long lines of climbers we've been watching. Congratulations dude! You know that many will try to diminish the accomplishment of climbing Everest in 2024, but you challenged yourself and you climbed the tallest mountain on Earth. Nobody can ever take that from you.

    That walk looked tough at times, but if you ever wonder if it was worth it, and worth filming, then rest assured, it was! It gave such a strong sense of the reality of the landscape, and the conditions, more so than I've ever seen before. For someone like me, who will never go there now (I was already six years old when Hillary and Norgay first got to the top), it's the closest I'll get to the experience. So thank you, and brilliantly done!

    I really respect you for hiking from Everest Base Camp back down to Namche. You achieved it because you have a strong mindset plus all of the training you have undertaken. Although it was hard you could enjoy all the beauty along the way. In the past there wouldn't even have been the option of going by helicopter. As you later summited Everest and got back down safely there was enough fuel in the tank.

    I’m so pleased and proud of Ryan Mitchell,19, a Summit Coach client who summited with Maddison Mountaineering. When we first spoke in December 2022, Ryan had no climbing experience. He prepared well and trained hard to get the necessary experience on the Ecuador volcanoes, Denali and Aconcagua, before his Everest summit. He posted:
    “The thought of going after Everest began when the stupid idea of making a TH-cam video titled “I Climbed Mount Everest” crossed my mind, just about a year and 5 months ago. I thought it was a good title, a “banger” as we say, so I looked lightly into Everest. Then I dove deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of Everest and mountaineering. From there I was hooked and promised myself I’d make it happen
    Just a couple days ago, this vision became a reality as Phurba had the 2 of us running from camp 4 to the summit in just 5 hours
    The amount of growth, physically and mentally, I’ve recieved from this sport and journey is that I’d be nowhere near if I had continued to sit in my comfort zone, making minecraft videos 8+ hours everyday.
    This 40+ day long expedition would not have been possible without Garrett Madison and his skilled team of sherpas. I also could not have done it without Alan Arnette’s mentorship and guidance.”

    Ryan, I am older and live in NH. I always wanted to at least put my eyes on Everest but doubt I will get there. I like watching Everest videos and somehow the TH-cam algorithm brought me to your channel. I have watched all your videos and then went back to look at how much you have accomplished in your 19 years. Wow. You should be very proud of yourself. I am going to write up a longer email about my thoughts of your trip. Your channel has been the most detailed of them all as to what the whole experience is like. I hear that you did summit. CONGRATS. I hope you continue making a video all the way back to Katmandu and then Boston. You are so right about mindset. I really like how you achieve goals and get them done. Again great videos. I prayed for you to make it. Congratulations. You climbed to the top of the world. You did it the right way. You spent the requisite money required to climb as safely as possible. You trained and made your
    physical body ready. You are mentally sound and had the knowledge that your life comes before the mountain. You evidenced that when you refused to climb to the top of another one when you knew your body would likely be going over its limits. It seems you have a right minded team that knew when to miss the crowds and summit in right weather and at the right time. The group was reasonably sized so everyone could be kept safe. You shared your experience with the world, which is amazing. Your journey will in future mirror a spiritual race to climb to the top of the mountain with God and Christ when you have their spirits one day. May that journey be as fruitful, when it’s within God’s timing, for you to run on the narrow road to the Kingdom. Enjoy your accomplishment and remain humble in heart.

    I am so happy that you had the good sense to hire a consultant and then actually take his advice on getting a couple of climbs under your belt before attempting Everest. Too many people climb Everest with absolutely no other mountains climbed ever. Also, I saw that pretty much all of the expeditions have a huge ratio of Sherpas to climbers this year. It's about time they figured that one out, I think your team was far more safe because of the large ratio of Sherpa to climbers. Congratulations on your summit, I bet that feels really good. Again, good on you for listening to excellent advice and actually following it, that served your very well and probably when you do a big video or talk about this that is something you should really focus on , how a consultant pointed you in the right direction and that most definitely contributed to your success. Again, congratulations and well done.

    • @kittypewpew
      @kittypewpew 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be fair, do you really need a consultant to tell you not to climb everest as a virgin mountaineer?

    • @bees5461
      @bees5461 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kittypewpew I totally get what you mean. I believe Ryan intends to share his experience/expertise with others through a longer form video and I was suggesting that that people who watch it and become inspired would be well served to hear that he didn't go with his first instinct, which was to just climb Everest without any other climbing experience. And also, it would be good for him to share that he was on a team with a guide/Sherpa to client ratio of 11:4. That was absolutely crucial to success of the whole team as the Sherpas could carry extra O2 for every team member all the way to the summit rather than leaving the extras at Camp 4, which in the past has resulted in lots of deaths due to people running out of O2 and not being able to be helped all the way back to camp. I would hate to see people get inspired by his experience without all the extra details. When people hear that a 19 year old succeeded in climbing Everest and get inspired to do it themselves, it would be good for them to understand that getting advice on the right way to do it, and getting on a team with high Sherpa:client ratio is a huge part of how he was able to do it. I'm not intending to take anything away from his accomplishment at all, but the help from others was huge and made a difference. A good life lesson for a 19 year old. It will serve him well.

    The trek down is a workout, getting you ready for the summit. After you recover from this (2-3 days, eating a lot of complex carbs and gulping water, taking some vitamins), you will be ready for the summit. The long hike also conditions the mind to stay sharp for long stretches of time. The helicopter is cheating your body and mind.

    Personally I would’ve taken the helicopter just to see the views of the valley - but I love your spirit to add some additional work before getting up the mountain!

    Hey! We've heard some spoilers of how it went already for you up there, but I'm looking forward to watching the saga unfold anyway. I was very relieved when I learned that you were definitely not one of the climbers who got in trouble with that collapsing cornice - had a moment of worry for you, guy.
    I love trekking alone and hate helicopters, so I can totally understand why you wanted to take the slow route to Namche. I hope that decision didn't come back to bite you in any way when it was time for the big push.

    I’ve been rooting for you and so happy for your summit and safe return. I love your videos and can’t wait for the next one. Your skin looks so sensitive and you looked so puffy in your summit pic, I’m hoping everything’s getting back to normal now that it’s over. You seem like a great kid and I’m very happy for you and the rest of your team 💞💞💞💞

    Love this video! It seems like you were more able to enjoy the views since you were going down. Also love that you chose to trek instead of fly. You’re getting the full experience doing it your way! Ignore the naysayers and doomsdayers. Just listen to your guides, your coach, and your body, and you do YOU!
