IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA , THE VERY BEST THING TO DO IS GET IN YOUR CAR AND FLEE AS FAST AS YOU CAN...I LIVED THERE FOR 42 YRS AND THE DAY I RETIRED I MOVED 100 MILES SOUTH...
People are not as friendly in south Florida

Jacksonville beach and pier is all you need. Stay away from Downtown.
Sweet Pete's is worth a visit and events going on at the convention center. Those are usually the two things that draw me to downtown.

Amelia Island is too far away. A golf resort. Valet parking only. Not free to explore. Avoid it
