King Crimson, The Velvet Underground, Electric Light Orchestra, Seatrain, It's A Beautiful Day, Amon Düül II, Curved Air, Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, High Tide, Cockney Rebel, Family, The United States of America, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Blind Faith, Hot Tuna, Roxy Music, Flying Burrito Brothers, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Fairport Convention, Caravan, Van Der Graaf Generator, The Incredible String Band, and Hawkwind made far more convincing violin-driven rock than DMB.

I don't think DMB ever claimed to be, or was "violin driven". I think they simply had a violin player in the band -- a mere piece of the musical puzzle. However, your ability to google "bands with a violin" is definitely A+

You’re not fighting fair here bud lol. I got nothing against those bands you’ve mentioned… but comparing them to DMB? Come on… this isn’t clown world(although I love jethro Tull). Also… unlike hootie, matchbox 20, etc… dmb has stayed relevant since the early 90s… I’d venture to guess that they have outsold everyone of those other bands combined since then when it comes to ticket sales lol
