I have never been cooler to my wife than in this very moment. We watch a lot of Angory Tom's channel with dinner. This is absolutely surreal to see!
Awesome 😊
A great video with a great game mode! When I first heard about horde mode I was hoping these guys would play it.
As soon as I heard they used your horde rules, I checked the comments and was very happy to see you saw this video too! I’d love to see you guys featured here on the games night channel somehow, or Tom and Ben getting an opportunity to be on your podcast
I love your channel! This is the crossover I've been waiting for!
Incredible rule set too. My friends and I have been using it a lot for long days around the gaming table.
I cannot overstate how much this felt like a true Gotrek and Felix narrative. G&F find themselves in an apocalyptic scenario, Gotrek chases after the biggest guy while Felix teams up with the flavour of the week big hero. Gotrek easily wins, then an even BIGGER guy with an actually important name shows up and pulps Felix's new friend. Gotrek proceeds to beat the new big guy only for a final HUGE guy to show up while Gotrek is half dead. Gotrek has a huge fight, with a surprise upset only to BARELY avoid dying. THEN THE AIRSHIP ARRIVES!
And we all know Felix would have fallen in love with The Huntress in the 5 minutes he knew her.
I'm honestly impressed as just how much lore accurate Gotrek is with his tabletop rules, I didn't think they'd make him THAT powerful but...yeah...no...dude is a fucking machine that slices through big guys like butter and is incredibly resilient. Gotrek is basically Warhammer's Doom Slayer...
Malakai rolling in to save Gotrek and Felix and/or get them to a chaos portal is just natural.
That's not really how most of the Gotrek and Felix books work though is it? Gotrek didn't kill the Bloodthirster OR dragon in either Daemonslayer and Dragonslayer and didn't start killing huge stuff alone for a while.
You forget the part where felix is in love with a new character in this case I’m assuming it was the huntress 😂
Tom playing just a single suicidal over powered unit while alex desperately tries to use strategy is such a great combo lol
Love that Gotrek was as equal parts unkillable, stupid, and insanely strong as he is in the books
Yeah, Gotrek is a MENACE in AoS
The funny thing is, if Gotrek went into Khorne's realm to try fight Khorne himself, he'd undoubtedly die but Khorne would likely be so impressed with him that he'd resurrect him to fight in his realm forever.
The worst fate for Gotrek, does the wickedness of daemons know no bounds?!
With his current powerscale in AoS, I'm pretty sure Gotrek could give Khorne a run for his money
That happened to a bunch of orks in 40k
I know for years Ben and Tom felt that the tabletop vids they did just didn't quite gel, be it the camera angles, the editing, the style of conveying the game etc. but honestly Games Night is my favourite channel by a country mile since it's been reinvigorated. Since the relaunch the formula has felt pretty damn perfect. Massive props to Ben for both taking the lead in terms of creative direction, coming up with fantastic scenarios, and being an excellent host. A massive props to whoever in the production crew worked with Ben to work out the camera coverage (I have the feeling it's Tom Bates or Alex Turner, but I'd love to know who it actually is), and to the editor who then so brilliantly adds the fun FX and music, and puts together just such a well paced, engaging final product (again I'd love to know which of the lads it is). Final props to the guests for turning up and being super entertaining and enthusiastic, fully engaging with these more wacky one-off scenarios and not half arsing it. Everyone involved in these makes it come across like a very slick, well oiled machine. It is genuinely the best tabletop content out there. Compliment splurge over!
Ditto on this all. Easiest membership I've gotten. I'm not a usual battle report watcher, but Games Night makes it so much more interesting.
i believe joe hickson did the editing on the first of these types of battle reports, he made a couple videos on his channel talking about how he did it and the goal behind it with the different colours for during the game + discussion after, etc. pretty sure it was a bolt action game.
@@Cyrathil Honestly as soon as I saw the video "Future of Game's Night" I membered up. I don't even watch the full cuts if they're over two hours, I'm just glad I can claim a small part in these quality videos being produced monthly
@@skinkskinkdead4628 That would make sense. He's really good at coming up with slick ways to add to the content that go outside of the realm of a regular edit job.
The co-op concept is worth returning to for sure! The allies having different priorities also seems like something with a lot of room to explore, very fun "wrinkle" to throw in there
I still love these concise battle reports. Boiled down to what actually happened, with all the shaky cam during play, dice rolls and measuring thankfully kept out (well, maybe with some exceptions where they make sense). The post-game retelling fits so nicely as a framework for gameplay footage. The visuals, camera focus and animation all feel so natural and really guide you through all what's happening. And on top of all that you can always count on Ben creating fun scenarios and special rules that turn the game from a regular "battle report this vs that" into a fun narrative game that makes you really invested in all the turns of events. The production value ist just phenomenal.
Having read a couple of G&F books in my teenager times, everything from the very first turn felt so much like one of those stories. :P
Ben actually getting to do... anything was great, it's nice to see him genuinely participating and enjoying. Also getting *Disney* to sponsor you on your video about the blood god is an absolute power move
That was amazing. Loved that Tom stuck with roleplaying Gotrek whole time. =)
Narrative players are always the most fun to play with. No meta, no min-maxing, just the rule of cool.
i mean let's be real Warhammer is not exactly the most interesting and complex game so you might as well. @@johntan4997
I can’t wait for the sequel to Khorne: the Musical… Khorne: on Ice
Surely you mean Khorne: on frozen blood? :D
Khorne: on Blood Ice
Khorne goes to Kislev
Turns out Alex was the hero we needed all along
Games Night + Poorhammer crossover LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Yall are two of my absolute favourite warhammer/hobby related channels!
First Biffa Plays Indie Games gets a shout out on Linus Tech Tips, now Poorhammer gets a shout out on Games Night. What's next, Ordinary Sausage getting called out by Guga Foods?
Would love more of those weird mashups, perhaps something loosely like:
Germans (controlled by PFlax) fighting the Allies (controlled by Lewis) over the ark of the covenant (or some other artefact) which opens up a portal in which the Rebel Alliance (controlled by Ben) who are pursued by the Empire (controlled by Alex) who take a liking to the Germans and team up with them to capture the artefact which may summon an Eldritch monster who fights for the side who use it (until they win and then it turns on them) just something with everyone involved like that or maybe just a 2v2 normal battle report if that would be a really messy game/rules mashup but you know.
I choose to believe that the Huntress was Felix’s latest love interest. Just ignore that WFB Felix and stormcasts being in the same room doesn’t make any lore sense
sigmar needs to bring him back fr
There were no Pegasus knights in World War II either...
It's a what if. It doesn't matter.
@@poshboy4749what do you mean? The 10th Allied pegasus division was legendary in its effort in defeating the Germans
@@poshboy4749 yeah. That’s why I said to ignore it, buddy.
@@_Hamleryeah with their most famous battle during the battle of "pegasus bridge" fighting a giant squid
In the inevitable "Return of Gotrek" game, the cold open involves a bunch of Chaos cultists summoning a daemon army to attack their foes. They are initially surprised but extremely pleased that they didn't get just a few squads of daemons, but a horde of them, all streaming out of the gate and immediately setting off for the Imperial fortress. But then they start noticing that the daemons seem...concerned? Frightened, even? What could scare a daemon?
And then a very, very, VERY angry dwarf rushes out of the portal, screaming all manner of dwarven obscenities as he chases after the fleeing daemonic army.
The scenario would be two parallel games. The Chaos army is assaulting an Imperial stronghold with a ticking clock until reinforcements arrive. Meanwhile, Gotrek is chasing down the reinforcing daemon army and cutting them down left and right while dodging all manner of obstacles. How many reinforcements arrive depends on how well Gotrek was able to keep up.
Until that game, every Warhammer Fantasy battle involving Chaos has a random chance that Chaos's connection to the Immaterium is disrupted in some mysterious way, almost like the Ruinous Powers were momentarily distracted by something. What could possibly distract a Chaos god like that?
The dynamic these guys have is great, I'd really like to see them doing more with poorhammer's horde mode game type.
Alex did such a good job with the models, I love the classic khorne colour scheme so much. My urge to buy a load of flesh hounds to do the same has really increased
Rebecca's death in edgerunners felt like what skarbrand did to the huntress
Ben, Tom and Alex. Amazing trio
Love the scenario and would be very into more of the same. Gotrek and Felix in character decisions were brilliant.
My headcannon had thanquol watching through a scrying device off his nut on warpstone.
Really looked like everyone had fun with this, same team different goals is something worth exploring more. Alex truly is the best of the Battleboys, killer board and horde there.
Co-op was cool. More Alex more good. More Tom more good. More Ben more good. Many more good.
Loved the co-op style! I mean, what's not to like, we get even more players and even more models to watch. And, as usual, big ups to Ben for all the organization and the editors for doing just a really fabulous job of taking the hours of gameplay and turning it into a pretty tight narrative, with the graphics and all. Just some of the best content available anywhere as far as I'm concerned.
I love the Nigel and Marmalade t-shirt Tom was wearing
Tom and Ben........Disney................
*gimli voice* ...and they called them a brand risk!!
lol, poor Alex being too tall for the wide shot in this room xD
I went out and bought my first warhammer introduction set just yesterday because of the ravs and lids video. I gotta say you just showed me a new addiction i f'in love this and instantly got my friends in because they are the same type of nerds as me lol. I always felt like it was such a undertaking to build, paint then learn the rules but they did a amazing job at explaining it. I love the warhammer stuff keep it up.
Great ad read Ben XD. And that "Got milk?" at 34:42 to end it was amazing!!! The double four's was great XD
Awesome as always. The editing seems to step itself up every time, making things even more cinematic and badass. The transition from the big guy being scary to being a pile of splattered meatstuffs was A++. And all the cannon stuff was great. Great to see some of those HUGE figures coming out on the map too.
But what I really notice here is Tom's GLORIOUS Old Nigel shirt. Didn't even know Nigel and Marmalade had merch, now I wants it.
And only as I finish writing this do I reach the end of the video and learn that Alex handpainted all the miniatures AND the board, that's crazy. It all looked so damn good. That may even beat Tom's cool shirt in the awesomeness scale.
Good ole Gortrek terrorizing all of the mortal realms with the power of begrudging friendship
I think this is my favourite video you guys have done on the channel.
Tom in there fully RP'ing with Gotrek and still winning the game, fantastic work from Alex for dealing with Tom and on the painting and building, they look stunning, and Ben for just managing the chaos (quite literally) and running it all perfectly.
Love it lads!
Oh is this based on poorhammers 40k horde mode thing?
Yeah it said so in the description and was a very fun watch like I expected
I’ve wanted to see someone play one of these for a while cool :)
He says it in the video 16:19
I feel like i've said this before but that was the best one yet. holy crap. the roleplaying, the dynamic between Alex and Tom, and the both of them goofing around to make Ben laugh, so much fun.
And Alex's models and board! so good. popped out the moment the video started. excellent, excellent work. cannot be overstated.
This was amazing to watch! I'm laughing because of how Tom stuck with the RP the whole time with poor Alex on clean up duty lol
I'd love to see behind the scenes videos showing all the prep that goes into the models, scenery, and scenario planning. Something for the members maybe?
Gotta say, one of the few ad reads I’ve actually watched. It was surprisingly entertaining!
The set was amazing, huge props to Alex for making it.
Please more Gotrek runs! I've loved that guy for decades and he is such a fun character to watch when role-playing well!
Editing is so good. Love Alex's energy, he really loves this stuff. Great video 10/10. The way a battle report should be.
Ben and Tom always a good time + Alex is one wheel boy and a song away from more necromunga. 😂
Alex is back!
Another banger video! So much effort goes into painting the models, it would be cool if when major characters are first introduced we were shown them rotating on a plinth so we could get a good look at all the details
It's so nice to see two thirds of the battle boys and Tom together again.
This was probably the best episode yet. These three are the deam team.
Glad to know Alex is a fellow Khorne enjoyer
Back and with AOS was not expecting today to be such a good day!
I am both incredibly excited to see Age of Sigmar on this channel but also shocked to see Tom and Ben play it after the amount of shade they have thrown at it over the years. Does this mean that they've actually come around on the game?
I mean the lore is a bit ... Interesting ... But the game itself is pretty decent now that it's had some time to differentiate itself.
Much like an incurable illness, it grows on you.
I think you can still feel their skepticism towards the game showing through when they talk about some of the rules in this game. Like Skarbrand dealing 8 mortal wounds even before he even swings his weapon
They consistently like the minis, they just lack the emotional investment that Warhammer fantasy had so they're not as interested in it.
Have we ever heard Alex's opinion on it? Because he's the only one actually playing a AoS faction.
love to see some co-op
Always glad to see more Alex
The answer to the question posed in the title is either "Yes", or "Yes, but only in the last few chapters of the book."
"Blood-rain Tornado Firestorm." Is definitely the least concerning warhammer weather.
It feels wierd that SKARBRAND wasent the biggest nastiest guy
Co-op was greatly exaggerated
I actually love Alex so much, such a nice edition to the duo
Holy shit Alex is awesome I love dry humor and would love to see him in more. The three here have great chemistry, a lot of us probably know Tom and Ben from at least TTT but Alex fits in perfectly
"No one knows *her* name!"
Cut to Yndrasta sadly drinking with the other Stormcast like:
"You get on the cover of the 3rd edition rulebook and you think you've made it, and then..."
just realised half the shots of the battlefield are a still where tom moved his hand when the pic was taken
Great battlerep, love AoS.
0:37 you ain't so slick that's a goatse, has the skull as the ring and everything
They need a version of the Gotrek model where you can replace what he is holding, so you can start with something small and eventually just the skull of a demon lord XD
I think this is the BEST ad read of any Yogs video.
75% battleboys , if only Lewis was in the background chiming in!😅😅
Gotrek proving himself to be both the most and least successful Slayer in Dawi history. At this point I'm not sure anything short of a Chaos god can take him out, and even then it's going to be a close thing.
Woah, Disney money. Good job boys. U deserve it. U really are a hidden gem of the interwebs. The genuine personas and content you've worked hard to cultivate over the past 12 years I've been watching show your dedication to being damn good dudes. Lots of love and support to ya.
It is absolutely crazy how lore accurate this battle report was.
This was fantastic, having Ben play as “the environment” summoning hordes of Khorne was excellent, would watch a lot more of these!!
This is amazing, more Tom, Ben and Alex!
Finally, lore accurate Gotrek.
Always great to see Alex
These advertisements are spot on, I actually would enjoy to watch more of them like this
This was so much fun to watch. Big props to Andy with all that amazing painting. And Gotrek - what a stone cold bad ass!
I loved this coop scenario, and would love to see more coop in the future too!
And having one player try for their own personal goal that kinda goes against the coop goal makes it even more interesting
The airship is such a nice touch, I remember in the books it saved them from some big khorne demon in an old forgotten dwarven hold one time, idk if i'm remembering that correctly but this scenario seems straight out the books very cool
Message from Skarsnik: "Me wantz moar WAAAGHAMZ!"
Nice one Alex doing all the painting, the khorne army looked amazing!. Especially the bloodthirster and Skarbrand
The fact Tom is wearing a Nigel and Marmalade Tee is the cherry atop this cake
*sings* "we're all doing it, doing the blood rain dance!" :P
After that advert- I'm just wondering how Ben doesn't have the Insmouth look to him irl.
That was a nice episode of Gotrek and everyone else
Absolutely loved this, always good to have alex on the channel and was a really fun engaging scenario.
So good, and so pleased to see Alex! More please!
No one has eight prehensile limbs like Gaston. I like it.
I want to see more Nurgle! Im such a Nurgle fan, would love to see if Gotrek would end up in Nurgles garden from a tzeentchen scheme manipulation from his portal travel. Instead of arriving towards Khorne, he arrives in Nurgles realm to fight against Nurgle and sow damage and chaos for Tzeentch arch nemesis.
20:48 So this is the scene from the Immortal empires trailer.
The "Khorne, The Musical", "Now I'm way more onboard" exchange up top was just... just brilliant.
Alex is such an amazing lad
Did not know the poor hammer and games night crossover is what I needed until now
Mittens with the kill at the end. *chefs kiss*
The thing I love about Tom is how he really gets into the roles. He'll play the game and do the best he can, but he'll do it in character. A lot of people think there's a dichotomy between the two and I appreciate his example to the contrary.
Amazing job on all the models and scenery Alex!
Gotrek and Felix are by far my favourite characters in all of warhammer! I’m so glad this video came now, as I’ve just finished my Gotrek for AoS that I got at Christmas, and I’m kitbashing a Felix to go with my army of old hammer empire in AoS! 😊
as always, the little bits of editing are fantastic. much appreciated
Hey Ben, there's a team in the horde mode discord server working on a more refined Age of Sigmar horde mode. I'm sure they'd love to hear your feedback!
That was absolutely class lads. Definitely my favourite so far! Hilarious, lore accurate, stupid, dumb, wonderful, exciting, gripping, oozing, exciting, exquisite, painterly, pungent, pragmatic and most of all... Fun! Can't wait for part 2? Ben's revenge?
I didn't expect a giant space squid to play a card game with Conan and sing a garbled cover of a classic disney song, But it's not the craziest warhammer warp story I've heard.
My goodness, your terrain details are really good. Always amazed when I see it
Wow, that Skarbrand skill chaining off the Huntress ended poorly for the Huntress.
This video was superb! The painting, the editing, and the narrative were all great. Really cool to see a co-op mission too
Can't wait for the nail-biting sequel in a dwarf's quest for fame and glory!
I'd love to see some Battletech on this channel
As someone who doesn't have an interest in wh games, the story with Felix and Gotrek actually got me invested and the ending was so cool!
