Very glad you made this video, I'm lucky enough to own a 2006 silverado with the 6.0 and nv4500 trans my only issue I have found is he lack of clutch options besides clutches for the cummins. I know the input shaft can be swapped pretty easily and am wondering if the clutches/flywheels are similar at all between the two.
I’m looking into replacing the blown 6.5 motor in my K3500 with the Cummins I know I need a different bell housing, but is the input shaft the same depth? 🧐
I’m going to go on a limb and answer a 2 year old question and say no. You’ll have to swap more than just first gear since the countershaft will have to match. But if you have the definitive answer let me know.
I’ll have to make a better video that is a compilation of the questions I’ve seen. There are so many versions I’m sure it would be nice to cover everything
I believe it was a 97 or 98 dually sbc. The truck and transmission were not together. Bought it from a vehicle parts dealer. That was the information that was given to me.
I would imagine you would need some advance testing to answer that. The 5th gear is external to the housing and having an OD is what makes the 4500 better

@@Compound_B_Fabrication another question, will the dodge tailshaft housing fit the earlier GM NV4500 case?
Yes the gears fit but what about is there a difference in teeth

Thanks for the video. What year nv4500 gm transmission did you use ?

Put a nv4500 with a 5.3 in my jeep😁
Is that a later model GM NV4500?
Mid 90s
I wonder which is best stronger NV4500 vs SM465?
