  • SHEFFIELD TOUR | ATTERCLIFFE ROAD in Sheffield's East End | Filmed in 4k
A Sheffield Walking Tour through Attercliffe in Sheffield from The Adelphi Theatre and down Attercliffe Road.
Attercliffe is situated on the North East side of Sheffield and is home to a wide mix of takeaways, shops and pubs although not as many as in previous years.
We thought it would be interesting to take a look at how Attercliffe looks today, so we set off with our Sheffield Videos Cameras to document a walk up Attercliffe Road, starting at the famous Adelphi Theatre.

Back in the early 80s used to spend many a Saturday evening in the Zeenat restaurant - I think it was where the Shamara lounge near the beginning of your video is now. Living in Swallownest and working at NGH I used to drive through Darnall, down Staniforth Rd to Attercliffe and then down past Forgemasters and Upwell Street.

The Sapphire Lounge used to be the Dog & Partridge. I played my first gig there in 1962

I was born in 1932 and lived in Baldwin Street for a number of years and attended Huntsman’s Gardens School after our old school (Attercliffe Council School) was bombed during the blitz. After getting married we got a little house in Chapel Lane, off Worksop Road, and after compulsory purchase we moved away to Shiregreen. But what a difference Attercliffe is now I just didn’t recognise it at all. Many thanks for the memories

Love that 4k quality. I too would like to see Brightside. I worked in the area in the 60s, in English Steel Corporation. A great place to work in. I made lots of friends, and as an Irishman, I always felt at home living in the Attercliffe area. Thank you so much for your fine video. Michael.

I last visited Attercliffe with my parents 69 years ago to say goodbye to relatives before going abroad. All I remember is grimy factories belching out a lot of smoke, and not a tree in sight. It has certainly improved from a cleanliness and greenery point of view, as has most of Sheffield. Thank you for another great video.

You did a very good job with Attercliffe rd . Many places gone now and so few pubs left. There used to 14 on the stretch of attercliff rd you did, only 3 or 4 left. There were 4 picture houses, now none. You could try Brightside and carbrook next ?

Try "Salmon Pastures!" between Norfolk Bridge & Stevenson Road? The river Don there used to be full of old bikes and prams before the "Salmon came back?"

@sydney tombleson...I think the street name is probably Worthing Road...I vaguely remember it, it was a long street that ran east to west on the south side of Staniforth Road, just long rows of terraced houses that faced onto the street. I went out with a girl who lived there for awhile at the turn of the 80s. Even then much of it was earmarked for demolition to build sports facilities, although i think some parts of the road itself remain.
