Like Button says, look at Lou's record of hiring excellent coaches. I have such a great feeling about Roy for the Isles. That French-Canadian Montreal Canadien excellence blood is now in the Isles organization. Go Isles!

I don't think the Habs would make the playoff but I'm pretty sure the ISL will with Roy. Too bad cause i would love to see an Habs-ISL series in the playoff.
Off the ice, that playoff series would be the friendliest. Isles fans and Habs fans love and respect each other’s teams. Islanders fan since birth but I’ll always cheer for the Habs, except when we play each other lol!

As a diehard Avs fan, I am beyond excited that Roy is back coaching in the NHL. He is going to do well for the Isles. The Isles are my new team in the East ... Avs first of course!

@@user-yg1dg6xm2g Here is something You should consider. Lamoriello usually doesn't stick with coaches. He has a history of dumping them even when they help produce excellent results. Don't be surprised if Roy has short tenure with the Islanders.

@@seveglider8406 hard to compare the 2 career as one played in a bottom team and one played on a top team for most of their careers so If you cant really compare their playoff stats, which is where you see different class of goalies, you cant compare their achievements, you cant compare their effect on the game all you can compare are regular season stats which well they mean something but up to a point. 2 amazing goalies that couldn't be more different. Hasek has one real achievement over Roy and its the Olympic that Olympic medal. That being said to say their is a whole class between the 2 of them is crazy.
Roy had a much better career, Hasek had better stats.

@@jeanjacques9365 Hasek won 6 Vezina Trophies and 2 Hart Trophies as league MVP. As I previously stated, Roy isn't even in Hasek's class! Roy didn't have a better career than Hasek During his career Roy played on better teams than Hasek!
@@seveglider8406 so we are going to ignore the 3 Conn Smythe (most of any player in the history), the 2 extra cups (all of them as a first goalie not a bench player as Hasek was for his second cup) and the almost 200 wins difference, the fact he has his number retired in both teams he played for (Hasek's number was never retired in the team he won his cups with), the fact Roy left basically on top and then say he had a worse career ?

No crystal ball, but it seemed to me they were overperforming, esp. in 1 goal games, under Lambert. What is B. Horvat's NHL record in the last 200 games and was it better under Lambert?
What happened in 2016?
he quit (quitted? - english is not my thing...) as the Avalanche coach a few weeks before the start of the season.
He wanted power over personnel decisions, quit when he didn't get it
Also Patrick Roy was the Avs coach and also VP of hockey operations. When the draft for 2016 came around Sakic has been the GM for a few years and started making those decisions with the scouts. Maybe it was a breach of contract? Which lead to a major disagreement between Sakic and Roy. Two weeks before the 2016/2017 Roy resigned. Unfortunately that left a terrible question for Coach- Sakic hired Bednar, rest is history. Hopefully Roy will be better in New York. He did admit to making mistakes in Colorado.

Leafs may not make a move until the all-star break. Berube seems to be the top guy. Boucher could be named interim coach until the end of the year if tree can't sign Berube.

Roy is a joke who will likely implode with this Islander team. The funniest moment the other night was when they were down 3-0 to the habs and he called a time out. There was a lot of pointing to himself and saying I can't do this, Im not playing. You have to do it. The implication though was if he was playing he'd do it much better, because this is all about him.
The Islanders are on a tank that Roy is going to accelerate. I don't think that was the plan but that's where they are.
The Islanders just fired head coach Lane Lambert and replaced him with the aggressive Patrick Roy! They will now likely make the playoffs.

Wrong move Islanders, Roy is not the right choice for Isls, nor any other team, he has a problem controlling his temper, we witnessed that with Colorado Avalanche.
Roy is a goon, and will always be one. He was lucky that his ex-wife didn't press charges against him back in 2000. I'm glad she left him.

I think he's better remembered as a Hall of Famer Legend Best goalie ever to play the game, but that might just be my perception of him. Haha

Can we please fire Roy. He is awful as a coach. Islanders are even worse now with him than before.
