ok yes they got really good realism to Hong Kong, i've lived there 11 years, but one thing that I was disappointed with is that they chose the smallest area in Hong Kong, there's Kowloon side, Lantau Island and Hong Kong Island, as well as other smaller islands like Llama Island and Cheung Chau, but out of the three big ones, Hong Kong Island is the smallest, and all of the triad operations happen up north in the New Territories, where I live, there are absolutely 0 triad bases in Hong Kong Island. Thats the only thing that I hated about the game, the map and the fact that you couldnt get out of HK island

If you're a Yakuza series fan. Just blind-buy this. Even in 2021, after having played all Yakuza 0-7, Sleeping Dogs still hold up. The gameplay is impressive, the graphic is more than decent enough for you to enjoy it. Excellent voice acting. Better battle system than Yakuza.
Currently playing Judgement on ps5. Even if that game has many excellent sides I’m really not a fan of the unbalanced and sometimes unfair battle system. This looks like more enjoyable fighting.

This game is so freakin awesome. The story is AWESOME, like watching something out of an Asian or maybe American drama, and the combat is extremely fun. Also, the environment of the busy Hong Kong streets and alleyways has so much detail, you'll feel like you're actually in Hong Kong. Great game, recommend it HIGHLY for those of you who haven't tried it.

Got this game for such a great deal it felt like I stole it.... Never did I think that I would be this immersed in Sleeping Dogs. It exceeded all of my expectations, from some of my favorite moments such as the nightclub fight to some of the best voice acting and fluid combat . This game screams quality and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to give it a shot. Criminally underrated.
Wonky camera? I've never ever had issues with camera, and I've played it twice. Wtf are you doing with your camera to make it look like crap? Why would you fight right next to a wall and shit and then blame the camera.
Once you've used a mouse and keyboard and go back to a controller to play a game like this, the poor camera movement (like when backing up in a vehicle) is extremely noticeable and annoying.
This game first came out in 2012, the Definitive Edition came out in 2014. I'm playing it for the first time in 2019, and I am cursing myself for not giving it a shot sooner! Absolute joy!
Better story then GTA 5 that is for sure, I felt like I was watching a fucking movie during the cut scenes. The acting was pretty darn good and the combat was really fun. I love the fact I didn't need to rely on a gun in every mission because that's what make this game stands out. I wish the combat would be different in GTA, I would love slam a dude or do something cool but it's pretty obvious that will never happen.
I want to see a game like this that takes place in Japan. But not Yakuza. I don't like that series because it speaks in Japanese. I'm not a fan of reading subtitles the whole time. Same reason why I won't watch any movie in a foreign language.

Why is everyone praising the story? The story was just... so.. predictable. The game itself was decent. I liked it. But to say the story is amazing means you have not ever read any books and the closest you've come to a story is playing Call of Duty singleplayer.

Yes the plot may have been predictable because it was a crime thriller, but the environment mixed with the characters provided a breath of fresh air from most open world games. This game never attempted to be innovating, in fact it tries to provide that cliche martial arts action feeling, so that you can relate to old Bruce Lee movies etc. This also attempted to make you feel, whether it succeeded or not depends on the player, but there's no doubt developers put a lot of effort into mixing death, betrayal, and insanity to remind you of how fucked up the triads really are.

I never claimed that the game was realistic, in fact I said the game was based off of cliche martial arts films. As for the Triads being more deadly than other criminal organizations, I would say yes, they've been around since the 17th century, and have a total of 36 oaths whereas the Sicilian Mafia only have 10, and their stationed in multiple countries including the U.S and the U.K so their far from typical.
Some things I didn't like: 1) In the surveillance missions, you are always looking for the same guy in the same clothes. There could have been more creative scenarios where you had to identify your target based on clues. 2) The combat for these camera hack places feel repetitive. Sometimes the same environment is repeated. 3) It is painfully difficult to look forward after you back up in a vehicle.
I’m here 5 years later and sleeping dogs has flown under my radar under now. I’m going to play it soon and from everything I’ve seen, I whole heartedly expect to be blown away
combat is like playing a beat em up, with grapples and stuff. Real good. Driving and stuff is real good. Graphics are very nice. Music is great. Plot is good. Acting is not bad.
The game has been sitting in my steam library for 2 years and I got another copy for free on Xbox. I downloaded the game the other day and it’s one of the best open world games I’ve ever played. Too bad they canceled the sequel.

combat is like playing a beat em up, with grapples and stuff. Real good. Driving and stuff is real good. Graphics are very nice. Music is great. Plot is good. Acting is not bad.

The game has been sitting in my steam library for 2 years and I got another copy for free on Xbox. I downloaded the game the other day and it’s one of the best open world games I’ve ever played. Too bad they canceled the sequel.
Its a great game, but is every 360/ps3 game coming again for the new consoles? I dont remember that many ps2/xbox original games being released again for 360/ps3 when they came out.

Basically if you've never played this game before then you should get it on the latest gen console. I might re-buy it but only because I like it so much, it's a pretty decent game and I'd highly recommend you get it if you haven't already played it.

Actually, I have quite a few issues with Fallout 3/NV
yes the game was not perfect. But the story, all the side story, characters, weapon designs, and just overall attention to detail made me not notice the other flaws.
