If you don't participate in them then that's on you. Also if you want to celebrate more, then you should organize with others and establish your own special days/weeks/months and parades. Thank you for your service. I am a disabled US Army wartime vet. I don't agree that we only get one day. My flag flies everyday for the buddies I lost in combat. My scars don't show up only on one day a year. We served to protect everyones freedom. I served with LGBT soldiers under the disaster of _don't ask, don't tell._ Straight soldiers never got discarged for it.
