I recorded this sound and set it as my 6 am alarm tone. Now I wake up 5 minutes before the alarm and ditch the bed 7 minutes after listening to my beloved alarm tone. ❤️
It's because these cars are overvalued and over priced. Once a car get beyond a dollar figure where no owner in their right mind would ever drive one, that is a bad thing. So these overpriced vehicles which are meant to be driven are left to languish in peoples shrine like garages and warehouses getting crusty and then need recomissioning to get them mobile again so they can go to another once a year show.
Another side to that point of view is that when a car reaches those outrageous prices, it becomes seriously improbable that they can actually be totaled. With an original serial number plate, a replacement car can be (and has been several times) created. Still... at $50M, maybe not!! 1/14/2019: I just read a comment on a Goodwood racing video a couple of days ago that this brought to mind. I don't remember the date of the race but there was a 250GTO just hammering around that track in some pretty tight competition. A couple of folks commented that it was not an original GTO but was created out of another 250 or maybe a 330 GT of some sort, also with a Colombo V12. It was built to closely resemble an original 250GTO and the owner was having a ball racing it without worrying about putting $10M-$20M or more at risk. It wasn't being offered for sale as a bogus original but it was a Ferrari and the owner was racing it in a "Sportsman" environment without having a heart attack if someone bumped it. Think of it as a pretty radical example of a "Resto-Mod." As the prices of the originals disappear into the stratosphere, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these in club races.
Well maybe because they're the most expensive cars on the planet. At 60 millions I understand why someone would prefer not to drive it. I mean on normal roads, because I would race with it on a track.
I don't know everything about driving but a decent amount. That being said, i know nothing about double clutching(other than ive heard of the technique used for truckers). Why would one use it in a car like this?

Wow, what a pure joy to watch this and just listen to this beautiful machine. The gorgeous engine noise, the click of the shifter. It celebrates the mechanical-ness of this magnificent engineering marvel. No nanny electronics. No beeping if you're too close to the car in front of you. No blind side detection. No CVT transmission. Above all, no deafening silence from an electric motor. This is truly a deep connection between driver and machine. Thank you for sharing this and putting a smile on my face that lasted.the entire time. If I was Derek Hill, it would take a week before it came off. Bravissimo!!

The 918s, P1s and La Ferraris are a technological marvel of today, but nothing is better than the sound and look of the cars from the '60's. The 250 GTO is one of the best.
This is the sole reason why I think even people in modern day Ferrari's still don't have what they truly want... What they actually wanted was... This...
No, I have to disagree. Most people that buy modern Ferraris buy them because they want to comply to a certain image they have of themselves in order to impress those around them, and they want to achieve that in the most comfortable way possible. Driving THIS requires skill and is actual work. The first thing few people have, the second even fewer are willing to put up with.
@@fredlabosch5164 I agree with the image thing. That's my problem with Ferrari ever since they created the Enzo. After that model, almost everything they made since then is so freakin flashy in looks. Give me a 550 any day of the week. It is so beautifully understated. The only modern Ferrari that comes close to that imo is the GTC4 Lusso.
Fred Labosch That's a gross misunderstanding. A lot people assume that, but it's not the case. Sure there's always a rich guy here and there who just buys a Ferrari because it's a Ferrari, but the majority of owners ACTUALLY are into cars and actually love driving and love the brand. Ferrari's are one of the few modern cars which still actually are fun to drive, that make you feel completely connected to the car and the road, and have a very analogue feel to them, and actually award talented drivers. It is a REALLY hard trick to pull in a highly technological car, making it drive like an old mechanical car, but with all the finesse, refinement, safety and pure performance of a modern car. Nobody else really pulls it off to that extent, which is why Ferrari's virtually always win all head-to-head comparisons to other cars, simply because once you drive one, any other car you put next to it just doesn't feel as good to drive and has that modern dullness to it with a lack of feel and connection between you and the car. They aren't just made for numbers on paper and for spec sheet boasting like so many so called performance cars are today, even though they can do that too. Ferrari actually won't even sell their cars to just anyone. For example, La Ferrari's were sold only to costumers that Ferrari as a company deemed worthy and knew very well, and all of them are true petrolheads and car lovers who owned many Ferrari's before that and their histories were well known. Not only that, but a couple of pro race car drivers who are also owners of the La Ferrari stated that the way it drives reminds them of the race cars from the 60's that they also drove on tracks during those old Legends events. A lot of people said it's like the modern version of old race cars in the way it feels. Ferrari's are often underrated nowadays and mistaken for these show off machines that people buy for status, but that's just not the case, they are most probably the best cars money can buy today, specifically because of the way they manage to mix incredible performance and modern features, comfort, luxury, quality, refinement (a lot of people don't realize just how refined and comfortable they are) with the mechanical and analogue feel and a sense of complete connection to the car, like old cars used to do. They really take the best of the new world and the old world and mix it together perfectly, which is what makes them so satisfying to drive. Same with Porsche's for example. Go to any race track in Europe and they're literally full of them, and it's for those exact reasons.
Fred Labosch ever driven a Ferrari? Then you don’t know what your talking about. All Ferrari’s are important to driving history. Sure many buy it for looks but if you’ve been in one you know.
I'd rather watch the driver's side windshield wiper of a 250GTO raise up in a non-vocal video than watch muted flyby's of someone's "built" car voiced over with their pretentious opinions on how their car is the best car in the world. More driving videos like this please Petrolicious

In the mid 90s I went to the US to buy some cars with a friend, while there found out, that "my" car was sold at US$945,000 that year. Now a 250GTO is worth in excess of 50Million+ in near mint condition... No, I am not unhappy to have sold it, but happy, that this fantastic automobile was once in my garage... of course I drove it ;-), and no, not one to go shopping in :D
+Justin21 Actually, that's a level 3 question ;-)...anywho, but not enough! haha
+Prof. Michael O. Zimmermann JCD ECS Whaddya mean level 3 question? Can't speak about money on the Internet?
that was just a joke...
Lmao Sounds like my uncle...he was so proud back in the sixties when he sold his old Ferrari for more than he paid for it, and made a whopping 7 grand on it...
Fast forward to present and he sees ones like his now selling for millions...
Sir, what is the second gauge to the left of the passenger, third to the left of the driver? Its jumping all over the place, intake pressure , vacuum pressure or ?

Thank you Petrolicious !
Tony Schnitzel nah the only ones you will EVER find are in a glass box.
The Ferrari 250 GTO is a stunningly beautiful work of art, it just looks beautiful.

So many kids today don't even know what a manual transmission is let alone how to drive one. They are used to the soulless transportation pods being foisted on us today. Thank you for sharing this and putting a smile on my face that lasted.the entire time. If I was Derek Hill, it would take a week before it came off. Bravissimo!!
Even the gear change sounds amazing
And people look at me weird when I say modern performance cars sound shit... NOTHING about this is faked, the way you can hear the engine twisting in its bushes and bouncing the drive shaft through the changes. This is real CHARACTER, honest and glorious, no BS.
Yes. I am also speechless about that new trend to fake angine sound on many modern cars.
It's fucking ridiculous. That and auto downshiting, auto double clutching, traction control, why bother driving it at all at this stage?
Yes mechanical cars ftw
The engines of the pass you can hear the valves camshaft . You can feel the motor itself driving these cars. And the transmission and rear end. Love to hear those gears. I had 70 Olds 442. The sound of the 455 with headers and M21 trans ,3.91 rear end. Man that was a machine. You can hear everything working. Today it's computers.😒
I personally find Cars in general to sound awful. Nothing beats the sound of horses from a carriage. They don't make em like they use to.
That sound made my eyes tear . There really isn't anything that sounds better than a Ferrari V12.

It's Jan 2019, and this is still the best video on Petrolicious. I wish they had footage like this on all of their videos. No talking, no background music, just the sound of the car driving around. It would get the viewer closer to experiencing these rare cars.
One of the best videos that actually balance the interview and car well is the Dare to be Different 240z. Don't get me wrong, some of the interviews are great, as in the Martini Mustang video.

This is the sole reason why I think even people in modern day Ferrari's still don't have what they truly want... What they actually wanted was... This...
new ferraris are capable but fugly. this car is rolling art
Fred Labosch
That's a gross misunderstanding.
No music added thank heavens.
