    Highlighting the flaws of the guitar lends credibility to the much more important things that make it great. Every other TH-camr would tell us the tuners are okay and it was amazing out of the box..
    This is the best way to endorse a brand

    Lovely guitar. If one doesn't like the fret wood they can always sand it super fine and then stain or dye it. Refinnish and/or oil it and BAM, it'll look just the way you like. I'm seriously considering doing that with this guitar.

    Played for nearly 3 hours today on one of these at a guitar shop today. Am in love with it, and since this early model of yours they come with better "ESP Designed" pickups and coil tap by default. I think the tuners are LTD self-locking, but I am not sure. I don't know what the nut is made out of, it kinda looks like plastic but doesn't feel like that.
    Any way, I went there completely prepared to get an Ibanez or an H-200 series, but after playing on the H and then this one... I don't know. Something just felt wrong about the other one, and something felt very RIGHT about this guitar. I was instantly comfortable playing it, from my own Ibanez Gio I have at home.
    I'll most likely bring that guitar home next time I visit!

      @MadManMusic ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad it was a good first impression!
      How did you enjoy about it over the Ibanez??
      How me its the Neck Shape. Its got a bit more to hold on to and that feels way better to me than a super flat thin profile.
      Again, really glad it went well!

      @@MadManMusic the Ibanez neck is thinner and has the smooth satin finish, and the contour of the base of the neck is very nice. But even with all of that different, the TE-200 just felt so good. I noticed myself missing strings and fret jumps on the H-200 that just came naturally to me with the TE. I can't explain it, it's like it chose me, lol.

    I have the te-212. It’s a total killer. I swapped out the bridge pickup and deleted the neck pickup, swapped the hardware etc and refinished the whole guitar. But, I got it for $75 on Craigslist. The base of the guitar though is absolutely amazing. I play it more than any other guitar I own. Dimarzio area hot-t, hipshot locking tuners, hipshot bridge, cts pots, switchcraft jack, and a graph tech nut, and I’m all on for around $300 for an absolutely amazing playing and sounding esquire type guitar that will do everything from blues/country edge of breakup through punk and hard rock.

      I used to play through a Boogie 50 Cal combo in the late 80s through the 90s, played in the Sunset Strip shred scene and all that jazz. Let me tell you, you haven't heard the ultimate crunch till you've played a Duncan Distortion through a 50 Cal. It punched through the mix so hard I thought it was going to break concrete. Just an incredible tone combo. If you ever track down a 50 Cal, combo or head, go down to the shop and plug into it and you will be amazed. One hell of a tone with the Duncan Distortion. Another amp that sounds amazing with a Duncan Distortion is an old Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead two channel. It's one hell of a blazing crunch. More in the hair metal tradition than the Boogie, but still awesome. I'm a tone junky. @@MadManMusic

    I started doing this to my guitars a couple years ago when I bought that super cheap Jackson JS22-7 7 string for the sole purpose of learning how to solder pickups and components, replace the nut and tuners, and install a Hipshot bridge. I've been doing it to every guitar I own ever since. I definitely agree that it can give you something more unique and personal to get a somewhat cheaper guitar and upgrade it to your specs yourself. Awesome video! 🤘

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! I've always had this mind set. Mostly because there are so many options for upgrades out there. From Tuners, Pickups, bridges, etc. Each small upgrade can really pump up the enjoyment of playing that guitar. Most are relatively affordable and easy enough to install yourself!
      It definitely beats paying a fortune for a guitar that doesn't include or do everything you want it to.
      And on top of that, I think that people create a bond with their instruments when they work on them themselves.
      Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the video!

    In November, I bought this ESP LTD TE-200 at a local music store, and it was brand new, so I paid the full price for it.
    Unfortunately, although the store said it was brand new, it may have been stored for a while, and the white parts have turned slightly yellow. The paint is also a bit cracked, in short, there are some minor flaws.
    In my opinion, its quality may be similar to that of second-hand goods. So I reported it to the music store, and they discounted the price by 10%.
    But anyway, it still plays like a beast!
    I can’t wait to transform it step by step and upgrade it into a unique guitar.
    Do you think it would be a good match to use Dimarzio pickups with it?

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh no! Sorry to hear that but I’m happy the store compensated you for the discoloration.
      You could play off of the tint and mod it to be Relic’d? That could be cool. 😎
      DiMarzio’s are great. Really any pick up brand will work fine. It all depends on with you need. Some brands have different wiring options and or capabilities. So decided the output you want from which brand and look up a wiring diagram to make sure your pick up selection options are what you’re looking for!

      Tuners would be the first thing I would suggest upgrading. But that me!
      I think the pickups are fine. If you’re playing heavy music they will definitely do the job.
      The bridge will depend specifically on the guitar and how it feels to you.
      When i got mine the action was high and when I lowered the bridge saddles the screws stuck out and it was uncomfortable for my hand when playing. So it was important to me to get that fixed.

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Glad you enjoyed it!
      Yes it will, however, like any guitar you’ll need to do a “Setup” for that tuning. You may want to use a thicker gauge string set and you’ll need to adjust your intonation as well as your Truss Rod.
      I’ve got a few videos on how to do that and I’m about to go back through and brush up on all of those topics again in new videos.
      If you’re not familiar with setting up your guitar like this, I’d simply advise you to hit up your local Guitar Repair Shop or ever Guitar Center and they should be able to get you in shape!
      I love this guitar! Its affordable and solid!

    Great video! Really interested in buying this guitar. Shame it's not available anywhere in shops near me so I can test /see it so the only option is buying online. I was a bit worried about the Jatoba fretboard because the Rosewood version looks amazing. But over time it might be less disturbing with using oil. Question about upgrading: Can you put any pick ups on it? I saw some sweet passive Fishman pickups or some EMG's but I don't have any experience in that area. Thanks!

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      As mentioned for someone with “my personal expectations” it needs a few upgrades. However, in general its a great foundation! Perfect for Beginner to Intermediate players! BUT with a few upgrades its an absolute beast and I love it!
      Because its a 6 string, you can use any brand pickup you’d like.
      So EMG’s or Fishman’s wont have any issues.
      Just be careful with brands like DiMarzio because they have different “Pole” Spacings to fit Fender and/or Gibson String Spacing. You can identify this by the bridge. Fixed bridges or Trems = Fender Style, Tune-O-Matic = Gibson Style.

      @MadManMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for the question!
      I think you'll find that the 200 series falls somewhere smack in the middle of those other models. The foundation is great. But the hardware and pickups may need some upgrading depending on what you're looking for. As for fretwork and QC I think its going to be different from piece to piece. This level of guitars are definitely being hammered out quick. So you'll have to expect that there may be flaws. I clicked on this since I really like the look of this guitar but in the video, you actually go on to explain why I SHOULDN'T buy it. I'd have to make all those modifications. The one you have isn't stock so...how are you recommending it? Just because you have to to get paid?

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Paid? I wish I was getting paid.. 😆
      I just own the guitar and I modified it because I required higher quality hardware than what came with it stock.
      But even after purchasing the guitar AND upgrading the hardware the guitar is still less expensive than most mid tier stock model guitars with similar features.
      I think my video reflects exactly what it should. You SHOULD buy this guitar because its a great foundation for a very capable and affordable guitar.
      Also now ESP offers the LTD TE-1000SW. Which is basically the same thing I built but 400 bucks more expensive. So if you’re looking for a guitar you dont have to upgrade on your own than that may be a better option for you.

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the TE-200 it was not a direct fit. As I explained in the Video, I had to use the original base plate of the stock bridge and I was only able to use the Hipshot Saddles. Those work fine. But due to the routing pattern of the String Thru Body holes the Hipshot plate didnt line up.
