    One of the most common complaints I get from new wig sisters who try regular synthetic wigs is related to how shiny they can be. "What do I do about the shine on my wig" is what I often here. TODAY, thanks to my friend Sarah, I have a solution.

    I do this on most of my synthetic wigs…(brunette) except that I brush mine through . It lasts til I wash it, and I even think it might even give it a little more body. Have been doing this for 20 yrs.

    As a teenager I used to use baby powder on my bio hair when it got greasy, much cheaper than dry shampoo!

    If I were going to do any kind of powder, I would pour a little in a paper bag then the wig and a little more powder and shake it a little. Most powders are toxic but none are good for the lungs, and Denice you are so pretty in almost all wigs.

    Shine never bothers me but this a great tip to tamp it down a bit. Shine is caused by the silicone used during manufacturing…gives fibers “slip” which minimizes tangling. I like the silky feel it gives my wigs plus it reduces the wear & tear that eventually happens to our synthetic pieces (after the silicone has worn off). Love your Tip Tuesday videos❤😎🫶

    Hi Denise. Great tip. Thank you. BTW: It'll be cornstarch for me because I really dislike the smell of baby powder.

    Wearing a mask and even positioning a fan to blow the powder away from you might be good precautions to take to avoid breathing in all that powder. Also, I would caution people not to use bargain basement products that could be made overseas where safety standards are more lax and asbestos can be a concern. Let's have beautiful hair and healthy lungs, too!!! ❤

    Love your vids. You’re such a lovely person and very pretty. Most of the wigs you wear suit you. Loved the shorter one when you were powdering the wig outside. Thankyou for all the advice and tips. I’m a wig virgin about to embark on the journey ( hair loss due to chemo) you give me confidence to go out there and give it a go ❤

    I’ve tried that with several wigs, and not only is the baby powder smell too smothering for me to breath, but the fibers felt terrible, and I just can’t stand the way it feels on my head. It’s like it makes the whole wig feel heavier. I’m going to try soaking a few of mine in fabric softener and water like someone recently suggested to me that worked on theirs. It can’t hurt, since they’re too shiny to wear anyway! Lol

    I've heard of people using talc with powdered cocoa for darker wigs. I've heard of corn starch too. I might be tempted to use Shower to Shower powder... I personally just bought the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blonde and Brunette, and I really love it!

    This is such a great tip! I typically only wear wigs that are HD, so I only recently started branching out into trying new brands that are Non-HD synthetic. I recently purchased a wig on clearance from my online vendor, and it is a Gabor, which I just assumed was a heat friendly wig. Well, not only is it not HD, it also has far more permatease than any wig I’ve ever owned. I have a narrow head and this wig looks very unnatural on me. I can’t take it back because of the clearance price. Has anyone ever taken thinning shears to a wig that is pretty short? It’s above the shoulders so I’m afraid the fibers will stick up straight.
    I appreciate any feedback. ☺️

    I did it and works better and longest times if you spray it with a bit of termal water (facial.watter or normal) just a hint,andthen i put the powder , i shake it and was much better and keep it longer with shine down 😅😅😅😅❤❤❤

    Thanks so much for this great tip 😊 I'm actually thinking about buying my first non HD wig from Chiquel here in Australia (they are having a sale 😊) I'm thinking about Forever chic,do you think that's a good one? I have waisted a lot of money on some HDs Because I wasn't educated enough on how to look after them🤦🏼 I find Bell tress fit me the best since I have a low hairline so do you think Forever chic would fit good? I was wanting to purchase the new Santa Monica or Newport in Bell tress but they have one colour left in stock 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would love long hair but I find bobs much better when it comes to HD's.I do have a Cafe chic but I want a more fuller bob that's why I really wanted Santa Monica.anyway sorry for babbling on ❤

    Just my opinion, but I feel like a lot of people are too sensitive to shine. When I was younger, my hair was shiny, so it doesn’t bother me like it does other people.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I do think it is personal preference. When I first started wearing wigs, I was not sensitive to shine, and I only wore regular synthetic. Once I branched out to HD and Human Hair, that is when I started noticing the shine.. prior to that, though, I really couldn't understand what people were so concerned about. I get it now, though... and also, I never had shiny hair so there is that.

    • @hmmm805
      @hmmm805 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@heywigsister that makes sense. I am a lot more sensitive to density now that I've tried low density wigs, like the Jon Renau lite collection. Wigs are such a journey :)

    • @user-cz6kw9zq5u

      For me, there’s just a huge difference between the look of healthy shiny human hair and shiny synthetic hair. I paid a lot of money for some of the regular synthetic wigs I have, and I won’t wear them until I can make them look more natural, because the ones I have look like shiny plastic doll hair, not shiny healthy hair.

  • @maw6456

    Ware a mask next time ❤ all the tiny particles are being sucked into your lungs. We've used it all and very little different and will damage the fiber fast. Human hair is the best and some are just as affordable as the high price synthetic. It's a gamble every time you order a wig😂 no matter if you love it the first time around and order it again it can be a hot mess😮

    • @SicilyJo
      @SicilyJo 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Interesting comment because I have found, too, that both dry shampoo and baby powder techniques damage the fiber. The fibers become hard to comb and no matter how gently I comb with minimal tension, those fiber strands start to kink up real easy and in sunlight, it is especially noticeable. No one ever says anything about this problem.
