  • This is a look at rural Louisiana during the 1930s. The height of the Great Depression. The people and places were a real melting pot of culture.

Keeping history alive is great. These would be great in a book if you ever feel the urge.

True Survivors of Anything thrown at them. The region of the South Alabama/ Mississippi/ Louisiana is filled with history, heartache, and Heros. There's no finer people on the face of this Earth. They work to live and Live to have the Good times when they come along.
I lived in this region of the Gulf Coast many years,a Sweet talking low country SC man lured me away. Then like a flash was gone.
I'm going home ASAP out of this place and back where I can Live happily the rest of my days.
So do a Stranger a favor, offer up a little prayer The Universe shines a Light on my circumstances and gets me back where I can walk in Sugar While Sands, eat fresh seafood right off the boat, hang out with old friends who still remember me and live a Peaceful Good Times Rollings, rest of my days.
Bless you,Be grateful your grandparents lived to Tell about these dark days in America and Pray we never see them to this Awful extent again..
Much love , LAISSEZ le bon Temps Rouler! (!LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!)

For the most part everyone looks content..
The girl with the big smile at the beginning warms my heart, as do the music makers! Music has- does get me through rough patches. The crawfish catchers looked to be having fun!! Thanks for these thoughtful pictures! In many ways we could learn something from these folks. I'm thinking about my paternal gramma, the stories I heard from my dad. She raised her children during this time, working too to feed and clothe them. She was making noodles on her kitchen table still when I was a teenager.

My family is from Louisiana, people today have no appreciation for how difficult things were, not that long ago.

It's easy to forget how hard life was not too long ago.

I also like to look into the past sometimes, it's history, and it's always interesting and even sometimes scary).
