Ye, this ViewSonic is a good one. 1024x768 at 85hz is my favorite desktop resolution on this monitor. It is also very nice for DOS games, I think all CRTs are better in DOS games than LCDs but LCDs definitely have a lot of advantages too.
Ahhh good to see my old friend Duke Nukem. Played so many 100's of hours back in the day, a lot head to head with a high school buddy. Can still hum the main theme song in my sleep lol.😅 And of course og Doom and Wolfenstien kicked off my love for FPS games.😅
I had the same motherboard back in the day, bought that with a p133, matrox mystique 220, gravis ultrasound max and a voodoo 1 using my student loan. the p133 would do 188mhz then I got a p166mmx off a friend that ran at 225. Whats the midi/mod plater running at the beginning with the patterns? dont think Ive ever seen that before.
Oh man I bet that thing flew. Pentium @ 188MHz is crazy fast, let alone having an MMX at 225 while having a Matrox card the whole time. Did you overclock by messing with the multiplier or increasing the FSB speed? Also, I was running the Tyrian setup program which has a jukebox mode where you can listen to the soundtrack. I hate to admit that I have used that mode more than I have played the game itself LOL
Great memories, I had the exact same monitor back in the day.

Me too.

Man, I’d like to know how you setup the autoexec config and ms-dos files to boot like that. I wanna do the same
I will make a quick video on it here soon! This process will also work on Windows 98.
