    sir you said if the circuit is not complete then current will not flow and emf reside as potential energy.. bt if after 5 sec we connect the circuit then will the current flow through it or the potential energy is lost

      Potential energy will be lost, as a coil can not retain energy.

      The mechanism which is producing potential difference , if it still there potential difference will remain and current can flow after 5 sec or after 10 days also . A battery if you dont use it for 5 sec , its potential difference is still there . Similarly if emf is produced due to motion like that in motional emf , if the rod is moving through magnetic flux , potential difference will be there as long as it is moving .
