Great review Jason. We design process equipment and pumping systems for chemicals , food, radioactive waste etc, using lots of materials, pvdf, ceramic, polypropylene, steel, etc. You guessed right, 304 stainless steel is significantly cheaper and unfortunately it's quite prone to oxidation in harsher environments. Salt plays havoc with this material so it will corrode in salt water quite quickly, and it is generally used in dry environments or handling non corrosive liquids. So, don't bring it into the ocean. Swimming pool is OK. Also if you're sweating a bit, the salt in your perspiration will corrode the metal over time. The nickel content can leach from 304 steel so if one has a nickel allergy (most people do) it can cause a rash as it corrodes. It's probably not the best material to use as a watch case, you'd definitely be safer to stick to 316L steel. However, if you're not going into the sea and don't sweat a lot, it's OK.
I didn't quite realise the difference between the two. I thought it was cheaper but didn't realise the size of the downgrade. Thank you for informing me
While it is great that we have all these Royal Oak look options out there right now to choose from the question become how many Royal Oak look watches does one need in the collection. I have Cadisens original Royal Oak homage, and Parnis Nautilus homage and therefore don't need 2-3 more of the same style in my collection. But again great review Jason and nice to see all the options out there.
@@JasonTheWatchGuy oh I totally get it. The dichotomy with Aliexpress collecting is whether to buy a model that comes out because you love the homage look and better yet the homage look for the homage price or wait for other brands to come up with newer improved versions and potentially miss out on a great deal/price.
Great review Jason. Nice to see Cadisen listening to the feedback of customers in order to improve their product. The result is a much improved watch. 👏
I dont know why people would hate on the VK movement. I have them in my pagani daytona and pagani cocktail. It is the single most accurate quartz movement I've seen. I have only needed to adjust them when the clocks change. I think it gains around 3 seconds a year. I have paid much more than the £24 I paid for it on casios that lose at least 1 second a week if not more!
That's a nice watch but that grade of stainless steel is not suitable for any kind of wet conditions where salt is present. It is cheaper and they probably used it to keep costs down, but it is not suitable for immersion in seawater. It will corrode very quickly. It will start with pitting in the metal and possibly release nickel onto the skin. Even sweat can cause a problem. We are using 304 stainless steel in shakers that blend flour for breadmaking. It can only be used in dry low pH environments. There is a good reason that 316L is used even in cheaper watches. I wouldn't recommend putting this next to your skin for long periods and don't allow it to get wet and don't wear it on hot days too much.
You are right, I said similar. We make equipment using this and we know what salt water can do to this material. I'm surprised they used it because as you said even cheap watches use 316L steel as it is hypoallergenic and nickel will not leech from the metal with corrosion which can occur on extreme circumstances on 316L also, but you won't have nickel leeching.
304 stainless steel is most notably present in industrial applications and kitchen equipment. It is a highly heat-resistant grade, and offers good corrosion resistance to many chemical corrodents, as well as industrial atmospheres
I've been looking at a few of the royal Oak homages recently. But have been put off by the larger sizes. After watching this review I think this is the best within my budget. Cheers Jason 👍
At the moment I think you're right to go with this, however, Pagani are due to release their chronograph version next month so may be worth waiting for it to drop
As usual, great work Jason. I think I prefer the blue waffle look, it looks a bit sharp edged on the underside of the lugs or is that an illusion? I don’t get the half crown guards, as they only protect the bottom third of the crown. Generally I have had good experiences of the Cadisensi have bought.
I think its available in a Blue too. I haven't felt any sharp edges while it's been on my wrist. The only bad experience I've had with them is the sharp bracelet on the first iteration
You need a macro lens! There's so much detail missing on close-ups mate! So which is your pick the new VK63 Pagani Chrono, not the auto or this? I must say I would off liked screw-down pushes like the Pagani...
I have the 42mm Cadisen and I really like it but it suffers from the same problem they all do, namely the extended lug-to-lug of the endlinks. If they could figure that out I think they'd sell a lot more of these.
I think sometimes its hard to review a watch when you have an expectation layered on top of another expectation, and so on. After multiple reviews, its hard to review an item as it is. As a totally new watch, as its the first time you review the brand. Hence its not candid, and a bit biased. Take a Seiko that cost 60 pounds, what do you get? Most probably a 7s26, folded bracelet, tin foil buckle lol. This is purely my opinion of cos. Keep up the good work Jason, always have enjoyed your review, and your dedication to your work.
Looks like they've made a few decent improvements. I've got the old one and don't mind the sharp bracelet but I can see why it would hurt some people. Thanks for sharing as always Jason.
Hey Jason, bit like marmite for me this one. On another note have you seen the new pagani with the vh65 movement (quartz that ticks 4 times a second) Looks very rolex cellini-ish Didn't think that was a watch I would ever see homaged, but its my favourite rolex I won't buy a watch before seeing video of it but I'm very tempted to break that rule looking at both the blue dial and black and rose gold versions at less than £50 You should try to get one in for review if you can
They actually look really nice, I'm going to get one in at some point because, like you, it reminds me of the cellini, hopefully its as good as it looks
Hi Jason, you should check out the new Pagani PD1707. I just got mine yesterday. I am shocked how good it is. (Yes, no watch is perfect, but for $77 i think it's 100% better than this Cadisen). I hope you will get to review on your channel and give me your own feedback. Cheers mate #brilliant

Thats true, I'd never have more than one myself. However, I do believe this is the best one I've reviewed to date.
Thank you mate

Couldn't agree more, some other brands on this platform could do with following their example

I agree - looks like Cadisen aren’t just upping their prices. Pagani seem to be, whilst offering no marked step up in quality. 👍👍
Agreed, if you look at the two products you can easily see which is the best for money at the moment.

I haven't had the Pagani in so I couldn't really say at this point
@@JasonTheWatchGuy Fair enough! I ordered it last night along with a Courgert Railmaster...
Excellent review, your editing was on point.
I do like the look of the Cadisen, the pagani's finishing was to corse and crooked.
Thank you! It certainly was, wasn't up to scratch at all for the price the asked
Try the new Pagani chrono version with the VK63 its much improved and looks miles better...

That is an issue really. I don't think the endinks are the best work they've produced which is a shame because the bracelet is rather nice
any idea where can i buy this? checked aliexpress but theyre not available.

I think I've been quite unbiased here, the only expectations are based on the other watches I've experienced

What size is your wrist mate?
6.25 inch
@@JasonTheWatchGuy nice. I'm slightly smaller. Do you think this or the pagani version?
Probably the Pagani to be safe, this is on my bigger side
@@JasonTheWatchGuy thanks!
I do like this, but again with the waffle dial though, I'd be all over it with a normal dial....very nice indeed....🏴⌚🏴⌚
Yeh, kills them off for you I know! Hopefully they release one with an ordinary dial
@@JasonTheWatchGuy fingers crossed after all the design is superb and the bracelet sounds much improved....🏴⌚🏴⌚
There's the Onola if you want to go way cheaper.
May have a look
316 is more corrosion resistant but it's not remotely an issue with watches.
24? Where I am that’s cold 🥶
24 in Britain is like 33 elsewhere in Europe :P
Enjoy living on the sun
