Fall Bible Study Week 8 - A Walk Through the Psalms

Each time we are at Mass, as a part of our weekly readings, we respond to God’s Word by praying one of the Psalms. Many of the songs we sing at Mass are based on the Psalms. Some of us use the book of Psalms as the foundation of our daily prayers such as in the Liturgy of the Hours, but in all that, do we really understand where all 150 came from and their intention? Did you know that Jesus Christ used quotes from the Book of Psalms more than from any other part of the Old Testament? Human authorship is attributed to King David, but only 73 bear his name. A key word in the Book of Psalms is “Praise” and it appears over 200 times.
There is so much we don’t know about this book of prayer, praise and petition and this Fall will be an exciting opportunity to not only explore this important book, but also to grow in our faith.
