Thank you! I still miss the Big Fitz to this day. I have no doubts that when the bell rang the day they brought it up, it was the crew sending a message to those they left behind. Beautiful video.
When the divers brought the bell of the Fitz up out of the water in 1995 it rang unexpectedly, the first time it had sounded in 20 years. Some family members of the crew were on board at the time so it was quite a moment I guess. Another fantastic video Ken!
I'm a New Englander, who has been to Michigan several times. My favorite trip was driving up Michigan over the Mackinac Bridge, which is awesome, at 5 miles long and was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was built. I believe it's 3rd now, but still the longest in our hemisphere. Over the bridge that separates Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, to the upper peninsula, then across the top of Lake Michigan and into Wisconsin, down through Green Bay and into Chicago, Illinois and back to New Hampshire. Most of that trip is very enjoyable, and certainly beautiful. I want to make this trip again, with my family, but this time, I want to visit the, "Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum." I became intrigued by the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Somehow it has taken ahold of me. So with a bit of reading about the E Fitzgerald, and the Mackinac Bridge, I discovered the building of the Mighty Fitz began in 1957, the year I was born. And the Mackinac Bridge opened in 1957. And Gordon Lightfoot was inspired to write the, "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald," after reading about it's fateful voyage in Newsweek. So the song was released in 1976, the year I graduated High School and joined the U.S.Navy. Now I just have to convince my lovely bride of 36 years to go with me. . . : )
Super dooper as usual Ken !!!! You have a real passion for putting these vids together and it always shows!! Always interesting...and cool how you appeared and disappeared on the point...hehe....awesome!
That zodiac was the most fun I had in a very long time....one big smile....OMG....as soon as we hit the open ocean, he gunned it and jumped over those waves and good thing I had a space suit on...hehe...I felt like a kid again. I didn't wanna take the bigger boat, 45-75 people...there was only 7 of us on the zodiac. That was more fun than any concert, theatre, shopping I ever been too....and the seals and cormorants were a bonus. I couldn't pet them, I was in the zodiac...LOL

Our family come here every year. We spend a lot of money in the gift shop every year too. This year we experienced a raging twat employee who was VERY rude and unreasonable. I was checking out our gifts and when I ran my card through I had to move my mask below my nose a little because my glasses were fogging up and I couldn't see the card reader to put my debit number in. Let me just add the counter had thick plexy glass, and she was also wearing a mask and their was no customers behind me either. I told her I had to move my mask down because my glasses were steaming up and I could not read the card reader machine. She wasn't interested in what I had to say, she was just repeating herself. Please put your mask above your nose, over and over. This ticked me off. I mean I get it, she was a facemask Nazi, but did it really kill her to let me read the card reader so I could finish my purchase? I mean if she was so feared about catching covid with thick plexy glass and a her mask as well, maybe life just isn't for her. It's bad enough I'm forced to pretend this plandemic is more than it really is, but being a massive twat to someone who spends a shit ton of money ever year in their gift shop is something else. Our family always spends atleast $300-$400 every visit in the store on gifts. Not anymore. We will no longer go there. Let me also note that every area where we visited in the U.P. were super nice had Trump signs, once we got into the liberal area, the people wear uptight, rude and complete assholes.
I've run into this very issue on several occasions. I won't wear a mask ever again. If anyone treats me like that. I'll leave the stuff at the counter and walk away.
How about a video of the seamen's been there for been there for been there for been there for many been there for many been there for many been there for many funerals they have a ceremony every year cathedral in Detroit

My wife and I were at the museum last year, I stood in front of the Fitzgeralds bell crying. Just tears rolling down my face for a long time. R.I.P.

Rest in piece to the 29 men in the Fitzgerald rest in piece to the 33 men lost on the Bradley and rest in piece to the crew of the Daniel J. Morrell
He sailed on them in the mid to late 70's. He lived in Duluth. He knew some of the sailors on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
I'm going back in a few weeks and we spend the night there. :)
The Edmund Fitzgerald is my favorite ship
The Fitz is a very neat vessel,.....The Arthur M. Anderson is my favorite,....

Will the ceremony be live this year?
If I'm not mistaken the boat identified as the Kaye E Barker is actually the Herbert C Jackson.
Thank you, Yes, I had caught that after a while, I was told that it was the Kaye,.... But the individuel was incorrect. Nice catch. : )
That is the Herbert c Jackson not the Kaye e Barker
Yes. I have already been corrected of that. I'll re edit the video when I repost it to my new channel. Thank You.
Exploring America you are welcome
What was the fabric draped over the lighthouse for?
They were sand blasting the old paint and were repainting the tower. It was used to keep everything from blowing all over.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... okaaaaayyyyy. Thanks so much! Well, I *had* kinda figgered that it was probably for some sort of repair :)
LOL, Yeah, they were restoring a lot of things on the grounds at that time. It was in Sept. 2012
Schweet... thang Q :)

You can't let 1 libtard ruin your family vacation, that's why they get up in the middle of the day, to be miserable and project their hate
❤
Super...hope it happens for you! I'll be happy just to get out on that zodiac again and watch some more whales and seals!
