- The Master has been up to his old tricks again. After bringing the seemingly helpful Axons to Earth, it turns out that all they wanted was to feed off the planets energy while the Master planned to steal the Doctor's TARDIS. Having been thwarted by UNIT, the Master comes up with a scheme to blow up the Axon's ship before it destroys the world, but the Doctor and Jo are inside. Will they make it out in time? Classic clip from The Claws of Axos, first shown in 1971.

Roger Delgado, Jon Pertwee and Nicholas Courtney... so many legends who are sadly no longer with us.
Just watched terror of the autons, im so hyped for the first master
And now Richard Franklin (Captain Mike Yates) has gone... he passed away on Christmas Day 2023.😥
Jon Pertwee, Katy Manning and Roger Delgado! Can't go wrong with these three, always spat off the screens how well befriended these three were in real life. Immensely fun to watch!
Andywarhola they will always be the true Trinity of WHO
I always enjoyed watching the Master in this part of the story. Here, he's completely absorbed in the scientific problem he's taken on. Plus there's the added benefit for him that he forces Lethbridge-Stewart to choose between the Doctor and Earth, getting the man right over a barrel.
I'm glad they used the original Master as much as they did. He was brilliant and sadly the actor died in a car crash.
Because air bag was made of plastic.
I love it when people say my dear Brigadier
ROFL Same. I was just about to post this too. XD
Actually it’s just one of Delgado’s mannerisms. He says, “My Dear Doctor” as a phrase a lot as well. He doesn’t actually mean either are dear to him; it’s just a figure of speech.
THE MASTER: Well gentlemen, your congratulations.
BRIGADIER LETHBRIDGE-STEWART: Screw you, Master.
THE MASTER: I see.
They only reversed the polarity of the neutron flow once. There was however a hell of a lot of reversing and polarity and neutron flows... just not always at the same time.
0:57 the trippy highlights of this episode!
But what a suave and elegantly evil guy Delgado was to keep bringing back :)
As much as I love Michelle Gomez's performance, no one will ever match the suave and sophisticated yet insane and very evil Master played by Roger Delgado.
OrangeKyle91 Degaldo is thd Baker of the Masters while Gomez is Tennant.
Michelle Gomez's Master was terrible. Nothing but pandering to feminists.
Burrunjor Man Oh, you're one of THEM, I see.
Burrunjor Man Ignorant moron.
@@ride-playerbb2818 old school fan, and you nailed it. I wouldnt have thought of that, but yeah that works.
This Master was so good.
Roger Delgado - best Master ever!
So this is where the idea of the Spaghetti monsters came from.
ALL. MISTAKES. HAVE . BEEN. EXTERMINATED
Oh boy, I can’t wait until the "Timeless Child" Plot will be exterminated.
I obey!
Yessss 😂
First saw this episode when I was 3 years old!! Nostalgia ftw :)
This episode scared me as a kid
Yes me too - very creepy aliens.
It actually still scares me to this day
@@goneoffbeans2768 "No, I am not Scared... I just want to see what this new Flat Screen TV looks like from behind the Sofa..."
great sci-fi.the effects are trippy.
The best master ever
The Master is a living window of if the Doctor went down the wrong path.
The Valeyard is unfortunately a canon, Master-ish Doctor. So it will happen some time down the line
"The Doctor has reversed the flow!" "Ah, you see? Time Lord ingenuity!"
"The Axons has reverse the flow!" "Typical underhand Axon trick!"
This is the first true serial where Jo Grant proven to be completely useless. Shes good at screaming things, and being clumsy.
Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart sure didn't like working with the Master, but he had no choice with the world at stake and hoped that the Doctor & Jo Grant would manage to get away from the Axons while they were in pain, though it worked temporarily.
They look like BAFTA's
Brilliant episode. Great sets!
Jo Grant was HOT!! :)
Indeed, He was so good. I just don't understand the whole "drums" thing with the newer Master, its a really unnecessary retcon.
Ditto
Just think of it like this its a retcon in universe the time lords changing history to cheat death
Classic 1970s DW.
This is my favorite scene from The Claws of Axos
Skirts were non existent back in the Seventies. Or was it the Eighties?
UNIT dating controversy. I see what you did there. 🙂
They laughed at my screwdriver...
Mindbedning.
That was trippy. Bad trip man. Mad I N T E N SE
You may want to take a second look at the description as that still says "Classic clip from The Claws of the Axos".
OG Who Master: Rodger Dealgo
New Who Master: John Simm
Well, you are not alone! I also do that!
I also say: "I need, I need, I need...you to shut up!"
Or: WOULD YOU CARE FOR SOME TEA?
Or: I need, I need....fish fingers and custard! :)
axons like weeping angels
Could you upload a clip of the scene where the Master first enters the Doctor's TARDIS and is horrified by the state it is in?
Pretty sure the Doctor used the same technique on Clara
Lol, I thought I was the only one who did that whenever I deleted something :D
Nice belt Jo's wearing. What? It was a skirt? My mistake.
Now that's how you know you're a Doctor Who fan. lol
As you were correcting the title, did you say: YOU WILL BE DELETED!!! :)
EX-CEL-LENT! I WILL CAN-CEL THE DE-PLOY-MENT OF THE SPE-CIAL WEA-PONS DA-LEK!
The Master when I pull this handle, the enormous amount of power stored in the Tardis will be channeled straight into Axos.
The Master they wont stand a chance they will die with Axos
Brigadier No Don't
The Master Either we Destroy Axos or Axos Destroys itself which is ought to be Brigadier
The Master Well It Seems Gentleman there is a slight mishap
Brigadier Well
The Master Well you Promised my Freedom and i earned it
Brigadier But i don't see the reason why
The Master My dear Brigadier you are utterly temperamental aren't you i have no interest in helping you or anyone
Brigadier Captain Take him
This era was the best of Doctor Who, it was about superior acting skills and drama and writing, now its all flash and fancy but little substance
The Claws of THE Axos? I question your articles, BBC video-namer.
Thumbnail looks alike someone is taking a selfie...
Oh yes! My fellow DW fan friends find it very funny! :D
Who else watched this one baked 😛😂❤️
Sounds like a good idea
As much as I like Pertwee I think they overused the master during his tenure
Nah, Delgado was amazing in every episode and never lost his charisma or intimidation value. I'm glad we managed to get as many episodes as we did with him before his tragic death.
Ditto
Agreed.
jo yum.
Coolio:P
Does The Doctor slap Jo twice during this clip? Good to see that getting her to do maths is more effective than a slap but I don't think this is very kosher.
