    • @SitocawithSorento

basically, in an aircraft, above 16,000ft, the aircraft no longer uses its vacuum generators. Instead, the vacuum the toilet is getting is from the differential pressure between the plane and the atmosphere.
The water that are used to flush the toilet bowls are used for the basins, your hot instant noodle etc. And those water your have used from the basins are thrown overboard during flight.
While your waste is sucked into a waste tank to be disposed during line maintenance

For clarification, modern aircraft toilet systems allow the drainage of liquid into the atmosphere but solid matter is kept in the waste tank. To prevent the the liquid becoming a block of ice on the side of the plane, liquid is drained through a heated probe which is commonly found at the rear of the aircraft.

    Here's a good question.
Following the logic that cabin pressure is what pushes the waste down the toilet: if we were to operate all flushing buttons at once repeatedly for a few minutes, would it be enough to cause a cabin depressurization?

That said, it's always possible for contents of plane WCs to leak, because such planes have seals, on the valves on the storage tank intakes, that can leak with the freezing and thawing from being up very high in the sky.

    • @pramitbanerjee
      @pramitbanerjee 9 ปีที่แล้ว

+Justin Stubbs I don't do a full flush. I slowly turn the knob so that only a trickle of water is flowing. This decreases the smell from my poop, plus i don't have any water splashing on my ass. Of course this would only work on toilets where you can control the flow like that. If not, just hurry up do your potty, and once your done, close the toilet seat and flush(or don't flush, if you are like the people in my college).

IT actually has a heating system to insure the liquid does not freeze in the pipe before being ejected into the open wind!!! Granted the amount of water used in a sink is usually pretty low Still!! Whenever I was on those Trans-Atlantic flights, I always assumed that the waste was released into the atmosphere and somehow disappeared because of the atmospheric difference. Don't ask me how I came to that "conclusion" but I just didn't think the plane could possibly hold the human waste of 300 passengers. That didn't make sense to me.

In Jamaican prisons there are toilets for prisoners to use but they do not put them inside the cells they put them outside the cells ,lock the prisoners inside their cells and they then have to deficate into any container they can get their hands on from a water jug, plastic bag or a bucket. And not only that other inmates in the cell have to be inhaling the scent of faeces in these containers for hours on end but of course this is how they prescribe that prisoners should be rehabilitated.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) estimates bird strikes cost US aviation 400 million dollars annually and have resulted in over 200 worldwide deaths since 1988.[51] In the United Kingdom, the Central Science Laboratory estimates[6] that worldwide, the cost of birdstrikes to airlines is around US$1.2 billion annually.

Actually there is a shutoff valve stopping the soil from going into the lines, the lines are actually always pressurised. The valve has two diaphragms which act simultaneously to activate the valve, that's like a very simplified, you actually have to go into the construction of the valve to get the full working mechanism.

Brings to mind an old story...
So this guy works out the maintenance department of an airline. It's his job to reach up, open the hatch under the toilet hopper, undo the leaky cap, and collect the disgusting mix of fecal matter, chemical, and paper in a tank. Every day he winds up dripping with stinky crap and reeks even with his overalls off at day's end.
He never gets invited to go for a beer or burger, and no one wants to be near him. Finally, his closest friend puts it to him: "Why don't you quit that vile job and do ANYthing else?"
"What?!" he replies, "And give up aviation?!"

I've always thought that below the toilet bowl, was a garbage disposal that liquefied the waste, and then sent it on to the waste tank in the tail of the fuselage. I sure wish that home toilets worked that way. Nearly every time I take a growler, I have to use the plunger. My stools always get lodged in the S pipe, and clog it. The toilets that we have in homes and public buildings are basically the same kind of toilets we had 100 years ago. It's 19th century technology.

1:55 ...... if they use the pressure in the cabin to PUSH it down... doesn't that answer the question? That it will not SUCK your intestines in, because there is no sucking involved?
    So basically nothing would happen?

Let me help explain how an modern commercial aircraft's toilet work, because clearly you can't or don't know how. Yes they use differential pressure, but how does that work?
Modern commercial airliners are equipped with a vacuum blower for use between the altitudes of 0 ft - 18,000ft. This creates the differential pressure that is required to suck the waste from the toilet bowl into the waste tank. Inside the waste tank, there is a water-air separator which filters the waste solids into the tank, and the air overboard the aircraft through an exhaust.
From 18,000ft and above, the vacuum blowers are not used. Instead, the differential pressure created from the pressurization of the cabin pushes the waste through the waste lines into the waste tank where the waste-air separator separates the solids from the air. The air is again, sent overboard through an exhaust.
