Model Hospital case study - Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

This video case study features Duane McLean, Chief Pharmacist, Chief of the Family Health Division, and Model Hospital Trust Ambassador from Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
In the video Duane talks about how he has used the Model Hospital to identify three areas of improvement within his trust, this includes:
1. Reducing stock holding
2. Reducing spend on IV paracetamol
3. Use of biosimilars
Duane explained that after using the Model Hospital to compare his trust’s stock holding with his peers, which showed that his trust was an outlier in this area, he put in place simple processes to reduce the number of stock they held. Consequently he was able to release £400k back into the trust, to be used more effectively elsewhere.
