Newtown is a Sydney Suburb/ Neighbourhood located about 4 kilometres West of the Sydney Central Business District .
The west side of king street belongs to the local government area of the Inner West Council while the eastern side falls into the City Of Sydney City Council.
Newtown is bordered by Erskineville, Camperdown, Enmore , Darlington ,St Peter’s and Marrickville.
Most of the area is older terrace homes with some apartments and free standing buildings.
King Street has a large Concentration of retail shops, pubs ,bars , cafes and restaurants .
King street has many historical buildings including several churches and the Newtown school of performing arts.
This walk starts from the northern end of King Street and goes to the very end of southern end walking only on the west side of king street .

Traffic, cluttered footpaths, chaotic, the full catastrophe and absolutely wonderful. Agree that seating and some greening where possible, nonetheless, great place.

@ hi nick , I agree on all points - it’s a great mix , the variety and quantity of old shop facades really help to make the place pretty unique also , King Street and Enmore Road has the largest concentration of these type of buildings anywhere in the state of N.S.W.
      Cheers for watching.
      Stay well

Good old Newtown! I also lived on King Street in the early 90s for a couple of years. Great to see again 🤩

Hello Billy, Its been a while, anyway, Piperlouise and I done this stretch of King St many times. You know that first bit where you start, I notice as your walking along that bit, is they need some street furniture. There's virtually no seating till you get past the Marlbourgh Hotel. Its been about 10 years since I've actually done the whole walk. Nice to see an updated version Thanks for your time.
    Cheers for now.

@@craigbrown9029 hi Craig, yep it’s been a few weeks since I posted last - I got covid and that brings on existing health issues so have been feeling pretty crap - any way back at it .
I totally agree about the street seating etc up that end of king street , the other side is just as bad - the Sydney city side ( the east side of king street) is also terrible for lack of rubbish bins .
I also think they could put in a few more trees on the spots that don’t have overhanging awnings .
Cheers again for watching Craig , much appreciated .
      Stay well

@@billyeyeball7725Yes I too got a bit of hayfever in the change of weather, Plus living right next to a bunch of trees coming into pollination don't help much. Hope you feel better soon. Cheers.

P.S. Do you agree with me on, I think its about time they do something with The Hub. All that prime real estate going to waste. What you think?
    Cheers.

@@craigbrown9029 hi Craig - the hub has just been sold by the family who have owned it for for the past 58 years , it was sold for twenty five million , the buyer is a woman who purchased it on behalf of her daughter who intends to use the space as a theatre / entertainment hub for the lgbtq+ community , so I’m pretty sure its about to get a pretty big facelift.
The family who owned it didn’t have any intention of selling it but were approached with the large offer and said it was to good to turn down - this news is only a few weeks old at most - living in the area I’m always keeping an ear out for what’s happening with local buildings and spaces.
Hope that puts a smile on ya face 🙂🙂🙂🙂
