- 1902年に日本で発明された、ガラスペン。滑らかな書き心地やインク持ちの良さ、工芸品としての美しさは、海外でも人気を博している。京都府京都市に工房を構える、1920年生まれの菅清風さんは今なお現役で、ものづくりへの情熱を絶やさない。軸からペン先までを、書き心地と耐久性とを両立できる硬質ガラスでつくることにこだわり、長年にわたって磨き続けてきた技術は、孫である菅清流さんにも受け継がれている。ワークショップにも積極的に参加をし、世代を越えて、手仕事の未来を描いていく。

A Japanese wind-bell shokunin first produced glass pens in Meiji 35 (1902). With numerous improvements, they now boast smooth writing, surprising ease of use, and beauty as a craft, all of which render them quite popular even overseas.
Seifu Kan, born in 1920, established an atelier in Kyoto city, Kyoto prefecture. He was actively and passionately crafting exquisite glass pens until 2019, the year he passed away.
His grandson, Seiryu Kan, inherited the technique Seifu had been polishing for many years-making the entire pen with hard glass. Glass pens made of hard glass are equipped with smooth writing and durability.
This young shokunin actively holds and participates in workshops that are open to all generations, envisioning the future of handicrafts.
