She got the new meta down. The new driving meta is when you have to give way and do a right turn you just go into the the first lane and that way you do not have to lean forward to see.
Common mistake is seat positioning. She is sitting a bit too close to the steering wheel which makes it a bit harder to maintain control over the steering. I've seen that many times on this channel. I think it is worth mentioning to the driver(s).
I think a lot of shorter people sit closer to be able to feel they can reach the clutch properly. I prefer a bit further away even though I'm 5'2" - so my leg is almost stretched when depressed but not quite, ie, with a slight bend at full depression, then it gives good clutch control without tiptoes, a comfortable off-pedal position but not cramped arms. Edited to add, too close can result in banging your knee on the underside of the wheel when coming off the brake if your legs are bent too much, even if said wheel is adjusted up.
@Thawne I'm not sure why my financial situation would be relevant to the comment the original poster put, or why I would want to put that online! In my answer, I added to the original posters comment about the topic they raised, as a shorter person who has experience of that topic, and a happy medium I found to their topic that I felt had worked well. I'm not able to advise regarding your situation, as I'm not aware of laws, prices or any other relevant information in your location, but most people in general, including myself, started off saving up for lessons first (I didn't have a car when I passed my test) and either a cheap car to learn in, or after passing then saved for an older but mechanically sound vehicle which would be cheap to run and insure, then gradually worked from there, upgrading at each trade in as you go. I did need to be working in order to do that though, even with an older vehicle, as running costs plus maintenance can mount up a bit. If you aren't working, it may be useful to run a moped or other cheap bike, but risks to safety are greater on 2 wheels than 4.

Of course you always need insurance, and the best that you can afford but also taking into account the vehicles age vs the premium. I didn't mention any of that initially as I was only discussing why people sit too close to the wheel.

I am from a right side driving country, and everything is obviously not the same everywhere. But anyways, we is there a blue arrow on her right pointing to both of lanes? That seems really confusing to me and I can actually understand why she thought that both of those lanes were in her driving direction.
@@vidarhagevi2766 If you're talking about the blue sign on the wide yellow post then that sign is a "Keep Left" sign. It's there to indicate that there is a permanent obstruction in the road (which in this case is that island of raised pavement that has the traffic lights on it that separates the left turn lane and the other lanes for the road coming from the right) and on which side a driver should pass the obstruction, in this case you should pass it on the left. It's less common but you can get other variations of this sign like "Keep Right" with a diagonal right arrow pointing down and in some cases "Pass on Both Sides" which has a diagonal left and diagonal right arrow both pointing down. Hope this helps
Just something I like to point out I feel like every instructor feels like you are close to parked cars but the view is just different when you are sitting in the passenger seat and driving seat.
Seriously. Specially in very tight roads. I got a minor when I was moving very slowly and carefully. Sometimes you just can't help it and I had the appropriate speed.

Its good to see other learner drivers making the same mistakes as myself and going through the same anxiety. It's so much easier to take in your advice watching these videos than hearing the same advice from my instructor when I am anxious.
I swear that's what all experienced drivers do. Anytime I pass by one of those signs, I'm noting the price down in my mind. Fuel is too expensive nowadays, especially for a big vehicle.

I've passed my test nearly two months ago..I've been watching your videos since I started learning...Even though I've done Automatic your videos helped me a lot with all those signals, hazards maneuvers and roundabouts. I drove to Cambridge two weeks ago..It was 54 miles and I am very confident with my driving now.
I had my driving test booked for the 1st April but then the lockdown came and it cancelled/postponed my test! Currently it's rebooked for the 26th June but that's subject to change too. Just want to say that these videos are super helpful to me so I can see what is required of the learner in order to pass and your explanation on each point where the learners make faults is super helpful to as I can now understand it!
When I was learning to drive my instructor literally told me to run a red light.. kept shouting 'GO GO GO!!' when the light was orange and then did an emergency brake for me in the middle of a junction and blocked everyone, then shouted at me for running a red light while we were still blocking everyone. I got a new instructor after that.
I’ve passed my test over 2 years a go now but I always watch his videos , he is so calm and that’s good when the learner is nervous , she has a nightmare mock test but if she takes what he says in to consideration she will be ready in no time 👍
I had my test yesterday. I was so nervous I stalled at the start. Ended the test with pass with two minors. These vids helped me so much. As long as you are careful and you check mirrors you will be fine.
I failed my first test for hesitation on roundabouts :( . It’s hard when experienced drivers just do as they please rather than sticking to the rules just makes them another hazard to look for . Love the videos :)
that's the reason I got a dashcam with both front and rear. A lot of folks seem to throw away all the highway code rules once they been driving for more that a few years.
Ive only got 7 hours experience and i am actually pretty good for my experience apparently but yeah people not signalling to leave roundabouts pisses me off. You literally only need to lift your finger
I passed first time and just before my test my instructor was very aggressive and I was making what I thought easy mistakes but once I meet the test instructor and how easy going he was I found it more enjoyable than my actual lessons. I do think sometimes on test day it depends on your driving but also the attitude off the instructor

Tbf silly mistakes all learners make aside, aisha was really unlucky with the hazards cropping up lmao. The reversing car and ambulance flashing whilst parked is a but ridiculous and things that wouldn't come up in 40 hours lessons easy.
That’s not unlucky. She needs to be able to drive in the real world. These roads aren’t even busy. She’s not even being tested under normal conditions.

Yeah I've never encountered an emergency vehicle yet, but loads of idiots cutting me up and literally walking out in front of me. No doubt it will happen on my test.

My test a ridiculous situation arises whereby a bin lorry didn't completely block the road but made life difficult as it was on a corner and I couldn't see around the bend. The fellas saw me, stood in the road and stopped everyone coming towards me. I could definitely see me panicking if a car came up the other way and making a silly mistake like getting too close to one of the parked cars or stalling etc. So fingers crossed people are nice to you. The idiots cutting up never bothered me. My advice is you shouldn't think of them as idiots yet. Laugh instead. It'll relax you. Wait until after the test to think negatives about other road users. Just embrace everything positively which will minimise chances of panic and ergo, mistakes. Good luck.
Saif Bleem it’s silly but as long as you maintain control of the car, it’s ok to do it temporarily. Eg when changing gear or applying handbrake. The examiner can only penalise you if you’re driving unsafely, unnecessarily disturbing other road users or carelessly eg damaging the vehicle. Don’t get me wrong I do think that driving with one hand could be unsafe,
Hamzah Hussain nobody would feel safe but the point is that the examiner shouldn’t require perfection. It’s at their discretion whether or not you pass they can decide if it was unsafe but they should give you faults if it meets the criteria in their form.
Be careful watching the bad mock lessons alot as I've noticed myself that when I've watched some I've started doing what they did, even when I never did it before.
If you look closely in the video the learner doesnt use her heel as a pivot, this is why she realises the clutch too fast and why her clutch control isnt very good. Many instructors dont teach you this
I agree. I could never change gears smoothly and then i watched a video on youtube which suggested using the heel as a pivot. Its helped me so much but I am surprised my instructor never thought to mention it.
I've got my driving test tomorrow. This is my second attempt, I had a serious fault on first attempt on the last 5 minutes. **(Edit 4th Jan 2021: I'm happy to say I passed my test nearly 4 months ago on my 3rd attempt with only 2 minors:1st emergency stop as I was slightly hesitantand 2nd observations at a junction, the examiner gave me brilliant feedback and said I was almost faultless and I was very safe driver. The attempt before (which the original comment made the night before I failed with 2 serious faults. One being because I was slightly over the line on traffic lights and the second because overtook a parked car when it wasn't clear and caused another drive to slow down. Got myself a car 3 days after I passed and now enjoy driving everywhere whenever I can. Good luck to everyone who is learning or got tests booked being theory or practical. If you need advice from pov someone who recently passed, feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer :)**
I benefited a lot from your videos and passed my test and I can't thank you enough . Here's some tips to use in D.Test guys 1-Drive with the 3d gear with speed between 26-29 In 30mph zone In 40mph use the 4th gear and don't bang 40 and don't go less than36 Give a comfy gap between the examiner and the pavement and so the cars(keep your car alongside the white line in the middle of the road) as they can feel their life isn't in danger. All the best of luck for everyone
Use 4th for 30 zones it saves more fuel, and 5th for 40 zones. But depends on the car. And do drive with your right side on the white line, that is dangerous
Honestly you get so used to doing them dont even worry. With time they’ll become second nature, just relax and understand what you did wrong if you make a mistake! Good luck!

Is automatic easier? I didn’t get on well in manual gas lessons a few years ago

I’ve passed my test over 2 years a go now but I always watch his videos , he is so calm and that’s good when the learner is nervous , she has a nightmare mock test but if she takes what he says in to consideration she will be ready in no time 👍

I had my test yesterday. I was so nervous I stalled at the start. Ended the test with pass with two minors. These vids helped me so much. As long as you are careful and you check mirrors you will be fine.
I failed my first test for hesitation on roundabouts :( . It’s hard when experienced drivers just do as they please rather than sticking to the rules just makes them another hazard to look for . Love the videos :)

that's the reason I got a dashcam with both front and rear. A lot of folks seem to throw away all the highway code rules once they been driving for more that a few years.
If you hesitate you arnt quite ready for a test and need more practice. Nothing wrong with that

I passed first time and just before my test my instructor was very aggressive and I was making what I thought easy mistakes but once I meet the test instructor and how easy going he was I found it more enjoyable than my actual lessons. I do think sometimes on test day it depends on your driving but also the attitude off the instructor

Tbf silly mistakes all learners make aside, aisha was really unlucky with the hazards cropping up lmao. The reversing car and ambulance flashing whilst parked is a but ridiculous and things that wouldn't come up in 40 hours lessons easy.
That’s not unlucky. She needs to be able to drive in the real world. These roads aren’t even busy. She’s not even being tested under normal conditions.

Yeah I've never encountered an emergency vehicle yet, but loads of idiots cutting me up and literally walking out in front of me. No doubt it will happen on my test.

My test a ridiculous situation arises whereby a bin lorry didn't completely block the road but made life difficult as it was on a corner and I couldn't see around the bend. The fellas saw me, stood in the road and stopped everyone coming towards me. I could definitely see me panicking if a car came up the other way and making a silly mistake like getting too close to one of the parked cars or stalling etc. So fingers crossed people are nice to you. The idiots cutting up never bothered me. My advice is you shouldn't think of them as idiots yet. Laugh instead. It'll relax you. Wait until after the test to think negatives about other road users. Just embrace everything positively which will minimise chances of panic and ergo, mistakes. Good luck.

Saif Bleem it’s silly but as long as you maintain control of the car, it’s ok to do it temporarily. Eg when changing gear or applying handbrake.
The examiner can only penalise you if you’re driving unsafely, unnecessarily disturbing other road users or carelessly eg damaging the vehicle.
Don’t get me wrong I do think that driving with one hand could be unsafe,

Hamzah Hussain nobody would feel safe but the point is that the examiner shouldn’t require perfection. It’s at their discretion whether or not you pass they can decide if it was unsafe but they should give you faults if it meets the criteria in their form.

If you look closely in the video the learner doesnt use her heel as a pivot, this is why she realises the clutch too fast and why her clutch control isnt very good.
Many instructors dont teach you this
I agree. I could never change gears smoothly and then i watched a video on youtube which suggested using the heel as a pivot. Its helped me so much but I am surprised my instructor never thought to mention it.

I've got my driving test tomorrow. This is my second attempt, I had a serious fault on first attempt on the last 5 minutes.
**(Edit 4th Jan 2021: I'm happy to say I passed my test nearly 4 months ago on my 3rd attempt with only 2 minors:1st emergency stop as I was slightly hesitantand 2nd observations at a junction, the examiner gave me brilliant feedback and said I was almost faultless and I was very safe driver.
The attempt before (which the original comment made the night before I failed with 2 serious faults. One being because I was slightly over the line on traffic lights and the second because overtook a parked car when it wasn't clear and caused another drive to slow down.
Got myself a car 3 days after I passed and now enjoy driving everywhere whenever I can.

Here's some tips to use in D.Test guys
1-Drive with the 3d gear with speed between 26-29
In 30mph zone
In 40mph use the 4th gear and don't bang 40 and don't go less than36
Give a comfy gap between the examiner and the pavement and so the cars(keep your car alongside the white line in the middle of the road) as they can feel their life isn't in danger.

Definitely don't drive with your car in the middle of the road lol.
Use 4th for 30 zones it saves more fuel, and 5th for 40 zones. But depends on the car. And do drive with your right side on the white line, that is dangerous
