diablo 2 gearing was so good... getting so geared on a hammerdin and running around super fast or teleporting around and one shotting all the bosses and mobs in hell difficulty felt so good so that was earned.
It was so epic just running g the same boss over and over and over and over. And then with rune words, I never have to pick up gear until endgame! It's like playing a character action game!

In fact, if you go back, he actively misled people in his review, praising the exact same things he now admits are problems. And that's the thing, he's catering to the popular opinion because his livelihood depends on the game. When there was a ton of hype, he was shilling super hard. I'd love to see you both have a stream/podcast/interview type thing and discuss the game. You both have fantastic insights into gaming in general and diablo.
For me it was the moster level being the same as my level. Never felt like I was getting any better. Takes the same time to kill a mob no matter what lvl you are. Did enjoy the campain though - just got dull afterwards
Didn't skip the dialogue for side quests first play through. some quests were badly written but some were actually really good. so good that I didn't skip the dialogue the second time around and sat around for a few minutes after finishing the quest considering the events. The aneta quest line comes to mind.
My take is. Most people will undoubtedly skip all the dialogues, then complain the game storyline is bad, I mean.. perhaps not skipping it.. could help make it better... Just maybe .
I really liked the side quests, a good number of them had some really interesting story beats, but doing them on the marathon death march made me hate everything
it's not the side quests themselves, it's that they're on a checklist. it's good that they exists for those that might like doing them, but bad that they're apart of a seasonal mandate.

It actually makes a lot of sense that the camera was probably allowed to be zoomed out farther and they changed to be either close or uselessly close. Blizzard seems to put a ton of priority on being able to see your cosmetics considering they put effort into making you see them on loading over fixing any of the mountain of issues the game has. So someone probably decided the default needed to let you see your gear better and they didn't have time to deal with the ramafications of it
Yes in beta it was more zoomed out abit, but when the game released it was abit more zoomed in, and when you enter a certain dungeon or an over world location it zooms out.
They should tie renown to achievements, skins, titles, banners, anything but player power. Make it optional, but still motivating for completionists. Best balance for renown and side quests imo.
I remember in the past in poe when all the side quests (alva...etc) were random in the maps it was quite frustrating that I often skipped over them but I needed to do them for items I didn't feel like doing them but after they put the atlas tree and you can choose what you do everything has changed, everything feels much more fulfilling compared to your own choices
I don't know how devs didnt realize how overtuned vulnerable was. It was the first thing I tried to implement into my build as a rogue during the first beta.
The first thing you did on your rogue was get puncture because the other basics do literally nothing in comparison. I thought seasons would mix up the game play boy was I wrong.

With very high attack speed you are able to generate a very large amount of resource, apply a CC, apply vul and proc a very large amount of lucky/crit hits. I think all basics should be on its level not the other way around, it's VERY fun.
I remember a month ago when people were insistent that we could still play our eternal realm chars after season 1 start and we would not need to recreate… it turns out they were all wrong as they are all effectively dead builds.
Would 100% do the campaign to get renown finished instead of dungeon/side quests. Miss the cutscenes but it's a waste of time to go through that again with no benefit to it on new characters.

Been playing it almost everyday since launch. Played the closed beta, open beta, server slam. But earlier today I turned the game on, went to a nightmare dungeon, got half way through and then turned it off.
I played D3 on hardcore inferno Monk before nerf. I got to act 2 somewhere before Belial. It was so hard, came close to death multiple times, because trash white snake guy mobs would take about 70% of my health on hit. But I played at a slower pace so I didn't get to finish before the update. After the update I just steam rolled and finished the game. That was the difference.

To be honest I was getting burnt out on the Eternal realm. My build felt weak, and the player base felt empty. Then I reluctantly decided to create a new character in season one and suddenly changed my mind about the game. I had a new build with the hearts that is absolutely more fun and powerful than pre season. The seasonal challenges and battle pass gave me an extra encouragement to play the content and be rewarded for it. The game went from being a burn out on the verge of quitting to being super addictive. I can’t wait for season 2 because not only does Blizzard address the criticisms from season one but they also promise better seasonal content and I can’t wait to play it.
I dunno why people rush the quests. I maxed out all my renown by getting altars, strongholds and doing dungeons. I maybe did like 10 side-quests per region but that was that. I'm saving all the other side quests for my leisure time.
I love Katamari, it's one of my all-time favorite games. Like Skyrim, I own it on every platforms I had, except Nintendo, but now I can even play it Switch!!

Pan out the camera, fix resistances, add more pinnacle bosses, rehaul itemization and remove scaling. Those things would make me buy the game.
Scaling isn’t bad, if you make the world regions level capped, it would make lots of content obsolete when you level over it.

A lot of people (myself included) cleared diablo 3 inferno dificulty by stacking attack speed and life on hit, so you basicly outhealed the damage
