You asked about Taylor as a person in this reaction so I’ll point you to her Netflix documentary Miss Americana.
It goes into her as a person, her writing method, her psychology, and touches on her defining career moments both good and bad. I was only casually interested in Swift prior to watching but the doc made me respect and admire her so much more.

The Netflix documentary Miss Americana is worth watching if you want to know her on a more personal level, like more of Taylor the person and her struggles. Musically, her discography is amazing, it spans the 'eras' of her career. All Too Well 10 Min Version + the short film (she directed that). But yeah Don't Blame Me from her Reputation Tour or We're Never Getting Back Together (rock version) if you want more of the epicness of her stage presence.

The thing about Swifties is we *always* appreciate newbies who come in open-minded enough to give her a real chance. And we especially love when newbies are so appreciative of her. It makes me happy as a Swiftie to know that you feel welcomed into the fandom.

SAME. It has become my latest and most favorite pastime. That's literally how I found this lovely gentleman -- I pop on YT at least once or twice a week to see what the "I've never listened to Taylor Swift and I know I won't like her music" dudes are getting up to in their ongoing, never-failing spirals down the Swiftie rabbit hole. It's better than scripted television.

I think your attitude in this video shows exactly why Taylor has taken over the world this year. I think for so long so many people thought that she was one thing, and have only recently actually listened to her music and realized that she is completely different and everyone is just falling in love with her.

I think she's been this popular for well over a year! She's been huge since before this album even came out, though this one definitely skyrocketed her with it's new style.
I think her shows have blown up considerably, though, because of the work she's put in. It's really amazing to see. She was good when she started! But back then her voice wasn't nearly this strong live and her stage presence wasn't either - she's worked extremely hard to project that level of confidence, dance and perform at this level, and keep near studio-quality vocals. I really love seeing artists come into their own on stage!

When you spoke about her confidence - the crazy thing was this tour was her “redemption tour”, her comeback after she had been bullied by the whole world (led by Kim & Kanye) and literally gone into hiding. She came back SWINGING with a banger of an album and a stadium tour, but was worried people wouldn’t come. It turned out to be one of the biggest tours in history. I was lucky enough to go to the London show, and it was INSANE.

I married a Swiftie and I never really got it based on the Singles on the radio. I got her Eras Tour tickets and wanted to learn the set list so I could sing along at the concert(little did i know it would be 45 tracks). I did the best I could and really enjoyed her music while just learning it. At the concert, things changed, I went from enjoying listening to TS to being absolutely amazed and in love with her, we came home the next day and I watched every tour concert, every documentary and have been as big or bigger Swiftie than my wife since. She is enchanting and the deeper you go, the more your mind will be blown by her.

53 yr old Dad. I've been a fan since Debut, but really enjoyed watching my girls grow up as over-the-top fans. Took my oldest to Rep and loved it. Took all but the boy to Eras. She's amazing, the hardest working person in show business and a consummate professional. I admire the work she puts in. NOBODY does what she does. 2 albums during COVID. Add another since then and 4 re-re-releases. And a short film. And epic concerts in the rain; concerts most artists would cancel on. She deserves all the accolades. ALL OF THEM.

Also, watching music videos of some songs really help visualize how Taylor visualized the song as she writes it. Before you watch “Look What You Made Me Do”, make sure you understand Kenya / Kim K vs Taylor Swift drama - they actually, along with the media is why the whole Reputation album happened. Hoooboy, as to what she’s like? Well, that’s another thing that fed into this album: she’s the kind of person who is genuinely shocked she wins an award, even if she’s won other awards. It got to the point that people couldn’t believe she was sincere in her surprise. But keeping in mind that none of us actually know her and just off the top of my head:
    * she was sexually assaulted by a DJ (she did a meet’n’greet, he reached up her skirt and grabbed her and it was caught in camera); dude was fired and sued Swift for defamation. She counter-sued for battery and sexual assault, demanding a dollar, not for the money but the principle - and to empower other victims of sexual assault. (Something she also supports with money.) (Edited to add: she won, but the wanker has not paid her.)
    * she paid over $55 million in bonuses to the riggers, truckers, caterers, dancers.. all the people who made the Eras tour possible. This amounted to at least $100,000 a person (£81,000), which is a life-changing amount for most folks. Each check came with a personal note from her, and people are reporting that they were very personal notes… because she takes the time to get to know the people who work for her.
    * she invited fans to her house to have listening parties for an earlier album. She nervously baked cookies because she wanted people to feel welcome. 😂
    * she stalked fans social media and then sent Swiftmas gifts - if you ever wanna cry, watch the video that was eventually released. She selected the gifts, wrapped them, wrote personal notes…
    * she’s very involved in children’s hospital programs, both donating but also just stopping by to hang out with the kids and play music
    * her fight with Apple Music resulted in small artists who were being hurt by Apple streaming music without paying for three months getting payment (and more than they were supposed to). She didn’t need to do that…. But knew she was a big enough artist she could force Apple’s hand
    * when she signed to a new label, she chose Universal because they accepted a contract stipulation that whenever Universal sells Spotify shares, it has to pass on a percent to all the artists they manage - AND that money doesn’t count against advances (which is a HUGE deal)
    * at every stop on the Eras tour, Swift wrote very large checks to local food banks and organizations associated with the nonprofit Feeding America. Which is wonderful in itself… but also savvy AF, because it put small local food bank names into the mouth of the national (and on some days, international) media… causing even MORE donations. It’s also opened up the media conversation about food insecurity.
    * An Instagram post encouraging people to register to vote was responsible for over 35,000 people registering to vote in one day
    * she’s kind to her friends, lending one a house to live in while undergoing an acrimonious divorce,
    * she helped Kesha with living expenses when Kesha lost a lawsuit against the producer she accused of assault
And there’s a lot more stories - these are just the ones I remember right now!

She does 44 songs in her Era's tour, every performance! With all this dancing & all that production! Amazing! I can't imagine how she does it! She has millions & millions of loyal fans. My favorite about her is that she writes all those songs herself. And her fans love her because she gives to them in so many ways. Visiting sick kids in the hospital or fulfilling wishes. She has literally had girls from her fan club come to her house for a sleepover. She has recently started dating an NFL football star & ticket sales for his games have gone up over 400%, because her fans are going to see if she will be in the skybox, watching Travis Kelsey. The NFL is thrilled of course & have the cameras on her ALL the time! LOL Playing it up, so they will sell more tickets. Lordy be. To see how much she has grown as an artist, check out one of her songs from her early days. She was a baby & the songs are great & the music written by a kid, were amazing. It is totally different from this powerhouse rockstar, more like you were picturing, yet still awesome, & why I fell in love with her... and I am a great grandmother. LOL Her first single, that began her career was called 'Tim McGraw', released in 2006, when she was 17 & has great lyrics. She had to sing it at an award show in front of Tim, having never met him & she said she was a nervous wreck. Now, she has done a song WITH him, called 'Highway don't care'. It's fun to see her before she got all that sass & confidence & just see the sweet girl next door. Other great early tunes are 'You belong with me', 'Love story' & 'White horse'. Now she is a full-on Diva & yet is so down to earth, she is amazing.

You're so cute! I"m glad you're enjoying this. Rumors persist that TS is just a bit of fluff, not a good singer, etc... and as you've witnessed, that's not true at all. I don't think there is a performer that works harder than she does. If you want another perspective that will just blow you away, watch the Long Pond recording sessions. So many good songs, and discussion with her as to what each is about and how she wrote them. Enjoy!

Taylor is from Pennsylvania. She started writing songs when she was just a little girl, learned guitar and was hired by Sony Records as a writer when she was just 14 years old, released her first album at 16 .
She writes her own songs and music, plays guitar, 12 string, lead guitar, banjo, piano and mandolin.
She was born a mega star. I effing love her.

She's an amazing human - literally one of the best on the planet. She's kind, generous, loyal to her friends and supporters, and supportive of other singers. She pays all her team very well with very generous benefits and gave everyone huge bonuses on her Eras tour. She also absolutely adores her family. I'm a classical music lover, and while I liked her music, I was mostly impressed with her humanity. Then, a friend (a diehard Swiftie) told me I wasn't listening to the right songs. If you’re interested in reacting to any studio versions of her songs, I recommend “august”, “cardigan”, “champagne problems”, and “right where you left me.” Really almost anything from her albums folklore and evermore. They’re a huge tone shift from the songs you’ve reacted to so far and I think really highlight her storytelling. I say the studio versions because it may be hard to find good, full length videos of them live.
Her performance of august, illicit affairs, and my tears ricochet on the eras tour is beautiful. Those 3 songs transition into each other so I think it’s best to watch the whole thing. But again, I cant seem to find a good video of the whole performance.

15 years ago, when my daughter's were 4 and 6, I took them to see Taylor while she was promoting Fearless in a small town in southern Indiana. It was the very first concert I ever took my girls to, and since then, there have been many more concerts attended. But watching you - a grown man, who felt that they *shouldn't* like it on principal - experience it and be moved the way you were ... brought me to tears. Whether you are seeing her incredible productions or listening to her sing while sitting on a couch, in a recording studio, in the middle of a pandemic, the thing that remains true is her gift of reaching others through the genius of her writing. In her words, she's not a singer who is a songwriter, she is a songwriter who sings.

"Don't Blame Me" also from the Rep tour, please! Epic. Also, I agree with you on toxic people. They just are whether they are in a certain fandom or behind you in the grocery store line.

These two songs you’ve just reacted belongs to the most iconic album she have ever made. The Reputation album. You will find some of her the best songs in that. I loved your reaction because it looks so genuine and open minded to something you’d expect not to like, as you said.

Loving your TS reactions! This was the song that made me a Swiftie so I was thrilled to see you enjoying it. I highly recommend that you run to the cinema this weekend to watch the Eras Tour film. I'm not sure how long it will run in the UK, but this could be the final weekend. If you want to experience the full range of Taylor's discography over the past 17 years, the concert film is the best way to do it.

Her live performances and music videos are great because she writes the songs so really feels their meaning

She has reinvented herself and her music so many times. Triumphing over every obstacle put in her path. Started out country, went pop (cause she wasn't allowed to do both), then finally refuses to be pigeonholed into a box. Enjoyed her music from all stages. Glad you are enjoying. Shake it off is a fun and sassy, Blank Space is racy, so many fun songs, Love Story so sweet

I think, for me personally, i connect most with the artists that make me feel something (whether its the lyrics, the vocals, or the production). So much of Taylor's discography is relatable. Even this song, we might not know the feeling as Taylor is singing it, but most of us know the feeling of everyone else telling you not to do something and just gleefully doing it anyway 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ she makes me feel things, and I'll always love her for that. Don't Blame Me (rep tour, specificalllllllllly) would be lovely to see next!
Oooh. Also. Dont know if anyone mentioned it yet, but the reputation album came out after she was massively canceled in 2016. This was her "comeback" album where she leaned into the bullshit and just went "f-it, you want me to be the villain? Fine." (Of course, its also an album about - very privately - falling in love whilst being canceled.)

You asked what kind of a person she is...she is absolutely lovely. You are damned to become a devoted Swiftie when you learn her story...no joke! There is SO much Taylore (Taylor lore) because she has been around forever. I'm one of the lucky ones to have been around since the beginning because my daughters were young fans when she was brand new and got me into her music. It's been amazing sharing our love of Taylor over the years! And knowing that they have such a powerful, talented, kind, generous, just damn GOOD person as a role model is such a blessing for a mom. Get ready to fall in love with Taylor Swift. It's inevitable once you start exploring her music and her personhood.

I can't wait until you get into the taylore (lol) and understand the meaning... you're emotional over the epicness now.... knowing the meaning behind the songs or what leads her to them and the way she writes all of her own lyrics makes it all SO overwhelming.

Taylor reached in and twisted your heart, by just being her honest, blunt, fearless self. So glad you put yourself out there to experience Taylor and her ability to imprint on our souls.

*This is what I watched in terms of concert movies/docs*
Journey to Fearless is here on YT, it talks about her upbringing, the beginning of her career, and shows footage of her first concerts.
It's followed by the Speak Now world tour movie here on YT, which is mostly just the concert itself, but you can already hear how her vocals have improved by that point and it's so fun to watch.
I don't think there's an official Red tour movie, but fans have made compilations on YT that are pretty much the whole concert.
The 1989 tour movie is here on YT as well.
The Reputation tour is next, and I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Also on Netflix is the Miss Americana doc, which goes through the Lover era but is an actual doc instead of a concert movie.
Then she made 2 pandemic albums, Folklore and Evermore, and the first one has an acoustic session on Disney+ called "Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions". Evermore doesn't have a movie or anything.
Midnights was released just before the Eras Tour, so it's included in that. The Eras Tour Movie is basically everything, performing hit songs from different eras (not in chronological order), but it's not on streaming yet, as it's still in theatres.
This is just the long-form stuff, someone please comment if I missed anything!

You and I got together when you started reacting to Pentatonix. Enjoyed you then and you cried then too. Taylor’s wormhole is soooo deep. She’s a wonder.

Taylor is from P. A. Moved to Nashville TN and became a country singer and changed her gandra to pop artist. She started her first song at the age of 12.
