I listen to this every time I get on TH-cam and like it more everytime I hear it. Small town here, and can't get anything locally, which I prefer, so I guess I have to order it. What a voice.
One if the certainly best artists to ever come out of the U.S. - the best artist you've probable never heard if. He's been around a long, long time - and I think that eventually, his music will be very well known - unfortunately, like so many artists that didn't "fit in" with the musical styles of the time - doomed to relative obscurity in the here-and-now. But he will, in the end, have the last laugh - like Mozart, and so many great artists before him and after him. Artists who do not compromise their inner vision, and the music around it, are the ones that last forever. They really, as a rule don't want fame: it just gets in the way. And they pay a hard price for it. I love this man, as an artist, and as a human being. Long may his musical flag fly.
I've been diggin' Ben since "The Doctor Is In" came out in the late 70's. He picked up the mantle of 'cool' from Mose Allison and ran with it. I think his reworking of Dylan numbers is brilliant.
I first heard this guy in the early seventies with his album " Feel Your Groove". He's top notch. His works include some soundtrack work, I believe, and if I'm not mistaken, he has at least one relative in the biz.
JUST GOT THE BEN SIDRAN CD! The writeup in the liner notes sounds like he doesn't think he's as good a musician as Dylan. Well, his versions of the songs are really fun and good. And he's as good or better than Dylan. I'm listening now to Subterranean Homesick Blues right now and love it.
Also has a brother who plays (and I'm guessing writes) on a number TV shows. Have not heard a CD by him. Do love this CD (haven't heard the entire thing). He sounds slightly dissolute, which makes him quite sexy.
...and Sara's husband Ron "Tiny" Kongslie thinks Ben is the Cat's Meow, the Bee's Knees, the Cream o' the Crop, The Cadillac of Cool....Ben, my good man, keep on smilin' through it all.
I've loved listening to Ben Sidran for years. But I didn't know he had the guts to tackle a Bob Dylan song. Actually I like it better than Dylan's. Is there a CD with him doing covers of Dylan or others?
Cool! Just discovered this today on KCSM commercial free jazz in San Francisco.
I have never heard such cool cover versions of Dylan's songs. This album (Dylan Different) is just perfect.

I see that I asked about a CD, and THERE IT IS. Right at the top. Gotta get this one.
Kudos to Ben for a great ride! Harvey Brooks
Smooth and cool. Nice shuffle beat with a bluesy feel. Thanks for sharing
You never know what Ben is going to come up with. For the best of Ben, listen
to his "When A Woman Says She's Ready".
Ben Sidren's been a writer of classic rock - Space Cowboy - arranger of note, etc,etc etc for over 40 years. Mostly living in Madison W!

I ordered the CD about a month ago. Maybe I'll order it again and have two copies. Things are a bit slow coming in this town.
Fantastisch!
Oh you I got you
Leo Sidran is Ben's son, not his brother, and has played with Ben since he was quite young. He plays drums and bass.
Also has a brother who plays (and I'm guessing writes) on a number TV shows. Have not heard a CD by him.

@PyritePete The relative is his son Leo.
No recuerdo quien lo subio ylo y lo compartio. pero gracias mil.

Thank you, Katy51844
A brother.

@Soniags Anybody knows the lyrics of Ben Sidran "I feel your Grove" TY
Well, Pete, I've led you and the whole jazz world down the rose path. Leo Sidran is Ben's SON. Sorry for the confusion.

One more question, Bonsai since you seem to know more about this, Is the standup bass player Rob Wasserman?
Is the standup bass Rob Wasserman?
Again, is the standup bass Rob Wasserman? Somebody please?
I just thought of the name of Ben's brother. It's Leo Sidran.
Yup! I like this version better than Dylan's.
"Families that play together stay together"...unless, of course, there's a musical disagreement and things get tense and the harmony gets frayed. lol
Is this guy great, or what?
He's great.
Hi Cathy where did you ordered those cds? please contcat us: bonsai@bonsaimusic.fr
Yeah, I wrote above that it was his brother, THEN found that it is his son. My apologies.
