I searched out your channel and others like you who grow in the same conditions of dry and extreme temperatures. I noticed a lot of youtubers have much more agreeable growing conditions and have an easier time producing bountiful gardens. That doesn't make them better gardeners. We Desert gardeners have to struggle to succeed and I think that struggle makes us either get better at gardening or give up. I'm not giving up! I love what you do and I respect your endurance.
I remember watching that video from Homestead Heart when their melons didn't do good, it was the compost, it happens to all of us. You are right, you just have to keep going
Yesssss I believe attitude and types of music affect plants. I believe in talking to the plants… saying Good morning… you are so beautiful to plants let’s them know you recognise them 🪴🌼🪴🌿🌸
You are so right! I used to think - what the heck am I doing wrong! Everyone I watch on YT have these lush gardens, can grow anything, have huge harvests. It was disheartening when I would look at my little pathetic plants! I live in zone 10B, have lived here for 30+ years, have had a garden every single year….definitely had my very bad years, too many to count. I just keep learning and trying every single year, always with the hope that THIS year will be the year I am successful across the board. I watch a LOT of YT gardening channels, but have my favorites - specifically those who garden in or near my Zone. It makes a huge difference to garden according to your Zone, and stubborn me kept trying to garden like I lived in Idaho where I grew up! Here’s my encouragement/suggestions: Be consistent- especially with watering, weeding, mulching Read the Farmers Almanac and learn from those who have gone before us Celebrate your successes - (I love your Sugar Baby story! So relate!!! I’ve had only one, too and enjoyed every bite of that darn thing!) Protect your plants - from harsh sun, too much water, too little water, too much/little fertilizer, PREDATORS!- raccoons, squirrels, birds, grubs, chickens (hard lesson learned) Have a sense of humor - because there’s that old saying, ‘You can’t fool Mother Nature!’ What Im saying is I’m with ya - positivity, perseverance and humility are the keys! Just subscribed, so I’ll keep following ya and check in. Best of luck with your Winter Garden - I’m currently on my round 3 of my carrot planting…..grrrrr…lost the 1st two rounds…LOL.
you are 100% right about learning from people that grow in similar zones. I lived in San Diego for 15 years (2005-2020). I wish we had started gardening when we were down there. It's almost perfect to grow in! Good luck on those carrots. They keep beating us too! lol
Love the attitude! I always try to stay positive and push people towards looking at the good in the bad. When something goes wrong in my plants, I try to learn from it. I try to keep a log of everything I do, so I can look back and see what may have caused the problem and learn from it. I appreciate you brother! Keep on doing your thing! Keep spreading positivity and love!
I say I have a black thumb, I kill all my plants or stunt their growth 🥺😭 But I’m not giving up. I’m learning a lot through YT, I’m praying and God is helping continue my gardening journey.
whats more important is to be knowledgeable and apply those knowledge more than the result..unfortunately people around can be toxic and thats what happened to me..jakaba, psb, biosaka, the right compost, potting mix, garden bag/air pot for air pruning hence less soil, all those jadam things, sip garden bed or any similar construct..gardening is too easy, toxic people are not
Hello from my desert hot dry Texas garden, lol yes is a struggle to garden, but I don’t want to give up, and it’s not easy or pretty like other gardens, but love it ❤, thanks for sharing this, i just found your channel and new subscriber.
If you live in extreme HEAT like arizona, don't quit put up a shade to guard your garden and water everyday, in the morning and then in the evening . Certain vegetables require alittle more fertilizer than others.
same here. everything seems to be ok for now but I'm expecting to have to add some acidic matter soon bring it down. have you test your soil for the ph levels yet?
I agree, gardening is constant learning. And constant challenges and successes. I hope anyone who's trying it keeps at it like you said. Happy growing all!😊🌱🌿🥬🥦🥕

yeah, this desert will try and suck the soul out of a person. but once you get the hang of it, it becomes that much easier.

I should keep a log also but I get so busy and that goes out the window! lol. thanks for the positivity!
Thanks for sharing the tribulations with gardening. There are many, and I totally agree, Gardeners garden differently especially in different zones.
absolutely! gotta learn with people from your zone and keep pushing ahead.
I say I have a black thumb, I kill all my plants or stunt their growth 🥺😭

Stay at it. We still kill a lot of things 3yrs in. Some years are better than others. We’ll get there together.
P.S. Pepper tricks I’ve learned - lots of feeding, and prune way back every year in the off season!

That's the right attitude to have! Thanks for watching!
Nice video.
Thanks!
No, do not give up failures in gardening are just learning ladders to success as gardening takes trial and error.
absolutely! learn from the mistakes and keep pushing on!
I live in AZ and our summers get up to 120 degrees.
Where do you live and what is your growing zone? Mine is 9B.
ours is 8b. that's crazy hot! it got up to that last year for us. Shade cloth is definitely a must!

absolutely! shade cloth is a MUST in the desert! treat them well and they will return the favor!
Learning learning learning. My issue is ph. Way too high.
same here. everything seems to be ok for now but I'm expecting to have to add some acidic matter soon bring it down. have you test your soil for the ph levels yet?
Man, the struggles. I lost a lot of plants over ph.
Yes, I just got a soil tester. It was too high. Now, I have been bringing it down. I Ph. My water, and then feed the garden.
My whole garden burned up this summer and I lost my nectarine tree.
we lost 3 trees and the rest of the garden was stunted because of the heat so I understand!
I agree, gardening is constant learning. And constant challenges and successes. I hope anyone who's trying it keeps at it like you said. Happy growing all!😊🌱🌿🥬🥦🥕
