Just ordered mine. Using for my bass rig. I was going to get the Cali76 Compact Bass or the new Empress Bass. I decided to take a chance with the CompIQ. Should have it any day now. Awesome review.
I literally have not turned off the Compiq since getting it almost 2 months ago. Everything I own sounds better through it. Low output SC, roaring HB, baritone, whatever manner of amp or plugin, it all sounds so much more pleasing. I don't dial the tape saturation in as much but enough to make it tingle in a pleasing way, and very high limiting settings to clamp my signal when I want it to and how I want it to, but leaving my initial attack unscathed. Compressors are functional tools for me but this crosses the threshold into becoming inspirational!

The multitude of variables on the more full-features compressors has given me pause, but you got to the heart of that issue when you noted that they are "find your tone, and leave it set there." Not a between-song knob-twiddling device. I use quite simple compressors that do quite well at bringing definition and balance, but this certainly intrigues me for what sophistication I could bring to my tone.
Random Button Pusher You might take a look at the CompIQ MINI and CompIQ MINI ONE, which all have the same technology inside, but the minions have fewer controls for simpler setups.

I bought this one. It exceeded my expectations, fully transparent, exceptional. It also has an overdrive !! Yes it does, and it works great for acoustic when you need a dirty sound. The Stella I tested against Empress Compressor, Suhr Koji, and the new digital Boss CP1X, they are toys compared to the Becos. I wouldn't recommend it though for chicken picking as it does not colour the sound as much as a dynacomp would do. This is a studio compressor.
