When cilla was talking about being kind to one another it made me think of something that I noticed not too long ago... the way that cilla speaks to everyone as in the kids, Asa, summer anyone is so absolutely sweet, loving, and patient, and polite. ALL THE TIME. And so much so that she even talks to the animals(maverick and nala)the same way and it just makes my heart so happy! It’s the sweetest thing and I just had to point that out lol.

I'm volunteering with Night to Shine this year in Maryland. I did it last year as well. It was fun for me because I'm an assistant coach for several sports in Special Olympics MD, so I kept running into my athletes all night. I was also a Buddy for one my athletes, a young lady also named Abbie. Becca, Summer, and Isaiah are going to have such an amazing time volunteering this year! And Abbie, if she's participating, is going to have a fantastic time as well!

I couldn't sleep last night and I found this channel and just started binging a bunch of videos from you guys. I'm not really associated with Autism much in any way other than the possibility that my 14 yr old nephew might have it (unconfirmed, but suspected) . Anyway, I find this the most wholesome channel i've ever seen. A channel dedicated to sharing the struggles and what life is like to bring up an autistic child. Things are rough sometimes, and you all get through it. It's really brave to put your lives out there in this community, which can be harsh. youtube's regulations and algorithms really mess things up, and not only that but people are really harsh sometimes, so it's really respectful to see this kind of thing. I think everyone is wonderful, trying their best, and Abbie is just the cutest, funniest little thing. Keep at it everyone!

She will love Night to Shine! My older brother has frontal lobe brain damage with a diagnoses of autism. He has gone to night to shine for the past 3 years. This will be his 4th year. We actually did a Facebook fundraiser for his birthday where he raised around 530 dollars for Tim Tebows foundation! It’s an awesome night and he talks about it all year round! I can’t wait to see how much Abbie will enjoy it!

My stepson has cerebral palsy and sometimes it’s hard to understand him and he is loud when he’s out eating or shopping and he laughs sometimes about nothing. When he gets mad or upset he bites his hand. He is wheelchair bound. He does talk but he can’t feed himself so we have to do it but he does choose what he wants to eat.

I work for bite squad and Uber eats while my son is at school and on the weekends and my mother in law has told me I need a “real” job. Yes! Kindness is Key! I’m a hairstylist and I have an 18 year old autistic client and her mom. Her mom came in one time for a trim and said “Thank you for treating my daughter so kindly, you treat her like a normal girl”. It broke my heart because everyone deserves to be treated kindly. Her daughter honestly brightens my day every time she comes in.

I agree to be kind but I will always say something to somebody about their choice to not vaccinate. Being vegan or gluten free is a very very different thing than not vaccinating
We can always offer advice and knowledge about the benefits of vaccinating without making non vaccinators feel attacked or less knowledgeable. It helps to teach, not preach.

I love the great message about being kind but not vaccinating does matter. It can hurt others who can't be vaccinated for actual reasons other I just don't want too. It's ridiculous that has been allowed to get to the point where diseases that been gone are coming back.
stephanie bollen I agree. There are people who are immunocompromised who rely on collective immunity to stay safe, but with fewer people deciding to vaccinate, it is much more dangerous for them.

I found this channel a few months ago by accident! Out of pure curiosity I clicked on a video and began watching. All I can say is wow. I've learned so so so much in the past few months of watching this channel. Things I never even considered before. I've had some experience working with autistic children, and have my degree in psychology. But it is so neat to see the family behind the child. Like assa always says, its hard for you guys, but no nearly as hard as it is for Abbie. So I’m new here but I’m from Charleston SC and I watched the video where y’all told the story of how abby was diagnosed . Well I told my mom about y’alls channel and she is a psychiatrist and she told me that she actually worked with the group of doctors and therapist that diagnosed abby and other children that come to the unit at MUSC. Its just so crazy how small of a world it is and y’all should definitely come to Charleston again if you can.

I agree to be kind but I will always say something to somebody about their choice to not vaccinate. Being vegan or gluten free is a very very different thing than not vaccinating
Absolutely. Not vaccinating is endangering not only your own children but other children and immune compromised individuals as well.
We can always offer advice and knowledge about the benefits of vaccinating without making non vaccinators feel attacked or less knowledgeable. It helps to teach, not preach.

Also, my oldest daughter is 21 and has been Vegan for a few years now. She gets a lot of rude comments from not only strangers but friends and family. She has learned to ignore and to brush it off. I love the great message about being kind but not vaccinating does matter. It can hurt others who can't be vaccinated for actual reasons other I just don't want too. It's ridiculous that has been allowed to get to the point where diseases that been gone are coming back.
stephanie bollen I agree. There are people who are immunocompromised who rely on collective immunity to stay safe, but with fewer people deciding to vaccinate, it is much more dangerous for them.
Totally pro-vax here, but I believe Cilla's point was not that the vax doesn't matter, but that, no matter where you stand on the issue, you should still be treated with dignity and respect.

Instead of everyone fighting amongst ourselves, maybe we should demand safer and more effective alternatives. Bc right now they're dividing us. Classic war tactic. Divide and conquer. As a retired teacher working with special needs children including children and adults with Autism, I could never understand the day to day needs of your daughter and the rest of your family. You are amazing. Abbie is also wonderful with a great team to help her achieve all that she can be.

I found this channel a few months ago by accident! Out of pure curiosity I clicked on a video and began watching. All I can say is wow. I've learned so so so much in the past few months of watching this channel. Things I never even considered before. I've had some experience working with autistic children, and have my degree in psychology. But it is so neat to see the family behind the child. Like assa always says, its hard for you guys, but no nearly as hard as it is for Abbie. Thank you so much for sharing your story and continuing to educate and create a positive culture and stigma for Autism! All my love
Totally agree with you about how to treat people. Be kind, understanding, positive, lift up people and tell them you love them and how great they are. Make time for yourself
So I’m new here but I’m from Charleston SC and I watched the video where y’all told the story of how abby was diagnosed . Well I told my mom about y’alls channel and she is a psychiatrist and she told me that she actually worked with the group of doctors and therapist that diagnosed abby and other children that come to the unit at MUSC. Its just so crazy how small of a world it is and y’all should definitely come to Charleston again if you can.

Fiona Young I'm also a mother and grandmother plus I was a Pediatric RN before I became disabled 5 years ago. I went to Clemson back in the stone age (😂 ) and majored in Special Education before becoming a RN when I was 29. I'm with you 100% on anti-vaxers!
