I bought this same guitar as my first Gibson ever early last year and, after a setup, was in love. I've since gotten a Custom Shop Historic R9 that's over twice the price. It plays very well (as it should), but I still find myself going back to my Gold Top. It's quite an impressive guitar. The only downside, as you've mentioned, is how heavy it is. I don't mind it when I play standing up but it really wants to dive off my lap when I play sitting. But boy does it sound ionic while looking timeless doing it. Gibson really knocked it out of the park with their 2019 revamp.

I got a 50’s Standard in Cherry Red last year. It needed a through setup and the nut adjusting for some Ernie Ball Power Slinkys. Hands down the best guitar I’ve owned. I think Gibson may address the paint imperfection. Maybe worth dropping them an email.

Congrats on your new Gold Top! That sucks about the pickguard screw. I have a 2019 Traditional in Blueberry Burst which is the same specs as the 50's Standard. Mine is kind of unique in that it is a Guitar Center special run and was made under the new management. It also has the correct serial number layout and is the last of the Traditional series made. The nice thing about it is that they came with the pickguard uninstalled. I could tell by the first chord you played that you got a good one.

That intro part of C. of Dover was recorded with an ES-335, the red one, other parts with a LP and others, the clean ones and middle crunch with the strap, so that intro was made, and it sound, to humbucker, Gibson scale tone. Finally the song was recorded with a lot of pieces of soloing track with various guitars; Eric dark distorted sound in records is mainly a Gibson, specifically his red 335 and some SG´s.
