Thank you for sharing! 👍 Unit 3514 was formed 18th June 1990 using both Driving Trailer Composites and the Trailer Second from 3137 with the Motorcoach from 3016. It was painted into new two-tone green/grey ‘Southern’ livery at Eastleigh (released 11th December 2001) and withdrawn at Lovers Walk 25th November 2005. Its last passenger working was the 17.58 Victoria to Brighton on 19th November 2005 (this was booked to be an ecs move following the Sussex Slammer railtour but Southern decided to operate it as a passenger service for the benefit of enthusiasts). When pairs of 4 VEP units were used on the East Grinstead line there was an operating instruction that required the intermediate gangways be locked out of use when passing through Oxted Tunnel in order to prevent passengers operating the droplights in the intermediate driving cab vestibules. PS - suspect Mr Wilky knows more than he is letting on..... 🐱
Hello, Looks a really well made model and a definite leap forward for Hornby with these types of locomotives. Thanks for getting the review up and the obstruction on the line was definitely purrrfect 👍
Hi Allen. Great vlog. 43 is a great looking set. Just did a very unprofessional unboxing on my new Bachmann 414 and I love it. Hey love Wilkie. Think he wants to be a modeler as well. Think you should name that bend Catford Junction.🐈⬛ Just subscribed to you. Looking forward to future vlogs. Stay safe Allen, love to Wilkie. DELPH JUNCTION (Pete)
The train room faces south east and has a sunny aspect. I find results are better when I video using the natural light. When the weather is dull, it prevents me from making a video! In the winter, there is often no alternative but to use artificial light which wastes electricity! Thanks for watching.
It does look like a very nice model. Oddly enough I'm afraid Hornby *still* haven't quite got the dimensions of the cab front quite correct, but it is an improvement on the older version. Not sure why they're having such difficulty with that, as Bachmann have managed with their 4-TC (which shares the same cab). Have you found the running an improvement on the older model?
It runs more smoothly tha the old model and can achieve a slower speed. But it is noisy! Colin Duff has written an initail review of the SWT version here www.southernelectric.org.uk/2024/01/26/hornbys-new-4vep-quick-first-impressions/ He says the Cab front on the Bachmann 4-TC is not accurate either! extra.southernelectric.org.uk/modelling/reviews/mod4rev_kernow-4tc-1.html#:~:text=These%20are%20extremely%20good%20and,compare%20very%20well%20to%20photographs. @@AllensTrains Hi Allan.
Think you have replied to another comment.
Pete.
@@delphjunction1168 It is a reply to you. When you look forward to future vlogs, look forward to a sunny day!
I think you will find that is a South Central VEP. Or it was when I was seeing them away at Redhill.
The particulars of Unit 3514 are precisely known - see the comment from Ewhurst Green below! Thanks for watching, Allen ;-)
Cat replied "I think the money would be better spent on cat food".
I spend more on cat food than I do on trains as I have got two cats!
