  • Peter Fonda (1940-2019) left a legacy of magic, on and off screen. His seminal movie, "Easy Rider" (1969), changed the film industry. It was a counterculture critical and financial success. The film was a road trip detailing a saga that awakened the studios to a new era of creative, low cost filmmaking. In 1981, Peter participated in a 5 night, 10-hour tribute to legendary producer and director Roger Corman called "Outlaws of the Movies" and hosted by Corman alum Robert Walden ("Bloody Mama"). Peter had starred in two Corman features, "The Wild Angels" and "The Trip." On the show, taped at Gene Autry's legendary Golden West Broadcasting's KTLA, Peter joined host Walden in a segment to discuss filmmaking, what he learned from Corman and how, famously, AIP co-founder Samuel Z. Arkoff turned down "Easy Rider." Articulate, charasmartic, insightful and fun are words that describe Peter Fonda. We hope you enjoy this rare video conversation and behind-the-scenes memories from one of America's cinema legends. Thanks to both Peter and Robert for a terrific road trip down memory lane. R.I.P. Captain America!

Thanks for giving me another perspective on Peter Fonda. I'll be looking for some of his earlier works to watch for sure.

A different era and culture of films. It was really interesting remembrance to a man who recently passed away.

Peter Fonda loved freedom and liberty.
And he lived his life to prove it.

I'll never forget sitting on the hood of an old car leaning against the windshield and watching Easy Rider at the drive in.

Well. I watched this and my mind is not changed. I just never liked him or his sister or his daddy. I just could not , I did not think they were very good actors. I don"t care about the politics or lifestyles. Just what or how they act.

I was never a fan of Peter or his sister Jane. Both ardent anti Americans. I won't shed a tear when they move on.

Same here. I couldn't care less if he was 'anti- american'. That's just another bullshit word for people who didn't fall for the illusion of the american dream.

Mr Word I just subscribed please don't waste my time . I cringe when a horrible actor Peter Fonda , his Dad was the Actor in the family. But Peter using John Wayne in comparison BS

Roger Corman almost drowned the very fetching cast of "The Saga of the Viking Women..." by putting them in rough surf in a unseaworthy Viking ship prop. The Coast Guard had to come and save them.

Yes, Peter was/is a controversial figure, but I enjoyed the interview, and his movies. "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry".... One of my favorites. I find him charismatic, so sue me, sue me, what can you do me....

I agree about the younger Fondas. But it doesn't lessen the importance of Easy Rider in film history.

@@AmericasChoice What half the people who remember Easy Rider talk about the most is how cool Peter Fonda's bike was. That should tell you something about the film. Some don't even remember what the film was about. I wonder if they rode ordinary bikes or motor scooters, if the film would even be remembered at all, lol.

    • @AmericasChoice
      @AmericasChoice 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@dianemccrea3605 Umm...I get your point to some degree. But the music was amazing. And the cinematography had its moments. The plot was merely a backdrop to the vibe of seeking freedom. I think that is what resonates with people who were there at the time. Late 60's early 70's

So wrong about Jack Nicholson he is a great actor. On of my favorites.

    • @terryv

He was referring to Nicholson’s early work - which was pretty bad. He improved as he grew.

Interesting how combining TH-cam and anonymity brings out the very worst in some.
And I thought nothing could top the Birth Of A Nation episode. Geeez Loweeez.
    Nice try Rob.
