I can't stand Francessa by himself but he is totally listenable with Russo next to him. There is undeniable chemistry between these two. The Mike And The Mad Dog show needs to come back.
These guys were so fantastic together and were such an incredible pair that you could put them together on a random Tuesday 15yrs from now and they’ll slide right back into what we see here. The chemistry takes off from the moment they sit down w/ each other. Just a shame the show couldn’t continue but it was 19yrs of the best sports radio there ever was. When there was a big NY sports moment, 1:05pm was absolute must listen.
I'm not from New York so I didn't get to listen but had heard of them for years. After getting to listen to shows on TH-cam it's easy to see why they were so popular. One thing I really like is how they conducted interviews with sports figures. Such a breath of fresh air, they actually asked tough questions, grilled people, even dudes like Steinbrenner. They weren't disrespectful but did not hold back, unlike today's sycophant sports media. Made for awesome radio! Great show.
No matter what happened between these two towards the end, you can tell they love each other deep down. Nothing they do apart will come close to their chemistry together

maybe since Mike has hinted he could retire in the next few years, if dog didn't get a new contract they could reunite for Mike's final year, that would be awesome
i really wish that Mad Dog came back with Mike today as a amazing surprise. I'm 34 years old and i remember listening to these guys after the Giants beat the Bills! Really Mike AND The Mad Dog is the greatest talk show of all time
its easy when you can outspend the competition, son and if you ever feel like watching a team watch the mets play, its not a bunch of superstars who bitch and moan like A-Roid in a year or two the mets are going to be back on top, and what are the yankees going to do then?
Man....I can't believe I missed this. I'm sure I had to turn the show off because as usual, Mike was wrong about something and kept repeating himself...you all know what I'm saying. Mike can be really-really, very-very, fucking annoying....
They were both better together than they are apart, the difference being that Francesa is still pretty good, while Russo has been consigned to the hinterlands of Radio Nowhere where even if he wasn't abominable-which he is-no one is listening anyway.

Yeah these two were always fun but Francesa is the one who screwed the deal up.
The problem is the ratings have stayed the same without Russo. There is not much incentive to bring Mad Dog back at the salary he will command.
