I bought this product a few months ago, because I needed something to get my wheelchair in to the trunk of my car. I have an KD electric smart chair, and it weighs about 50 lbs, and folds up....and this product worked wonderfully! I wanted to comment to let people with an electric wheelchair[ light weight] know that this is an option for them. I also wanted to say, that this is a high quality product...construction is wonderful, and exceeded my expectations! Thank you to Pelican.
Hi Sharon. I have a wheelchair that folds and weighs about 50 lbs. I am looking for something to help me lift my chair into my car as well. Since you bought this product and have a similar chair, do you mind sharing a video?
@@tanialinares30 Hi Tania...the dimensions of my wheelchair folded...13.38x25.6x29.5 inches[LxWxH].. and it fits well in this lift...I don't think it is possible to add photos here.
On a perfect day with clean surfaces this would be amazing. When you have to park somewhere in the mud or even just the wheels get dirty it would be a mess. We get in and out of the car multiple times within an hour when shopping. I guess I'm looking for a miracle so I won't hurt my back over time.
Hi. Thank you for comment on the Wheelchair Boot Slider. The problem of dirt is hopefully something we have overcome by using the Ground Protector. I am not sure if you noticed it in the video, but the Ground Protector is the part that you put on the ground first. This means when you lift the main frame part with the wheelchair inside, it helps keep your clothes clean. You can then load the Ground Protector into the car last, dirty side up. Let me know if this is not clear and I can email you some photos. My email address is tom@pelicanmanufacturing.com.au Thanks, Tom.
@@PelicanManufacturing Thank you! Yes I understand the description. I had no idea there was such a product. It's nice to see people coming up with things to help.
a tad tooo much out of my price range. I have a disability walker, & I'm looking for ideas to lift it & out of my boot when it's folded. Any ideas?...Anyone?
The wheelchair used in the video weighs 17kg / 37.5lbs. Total Product Weight: is 6kg / 13lbs (Not including the wheelchair). Please contact us if you need any more assistance.
Great video, well done...........I’ve been searching for ages to find something to help me get my electric hybrid bicycle into the back of my Skoda yeti...it’s a full sized bike with battery and rear hub motor so it weighs about 20kg.....I can get it in and out of the hatchback with the help of my mate, but I need to find something to help me on my own....I wondered if you had any ideas please, many thanks, Tom
Hello Ann, We can send this product to you in the UK. Please send us an email to sales@pelicanmanufacturing.com.au and we'll be happy to help you. Thank you.
Hi Meg. Thanks for the question and opportunity to explain. The Ground Protector has two jobs. You put it on the ground first, so that the Platform (the main part which holds the wheelchair) stands on top of it. When you go to put the wheelchair (inside the platform) into the car, you can rest it on your thigh to take the weight. Without the Ground Protector, you could make your clothes dirty or muddy from the ground, especially on rainy days. So the Ground Protector keeps the bottom of the Platform clean, in order to keep your clothes clean. The second function is that it help preserve the life of the Platform. Without it, the Platform may wear on rough road surfaces over time. You're right to be weary of it being a slip/trip hazard. To help overcome this, we put weights in each corner. These work well to help stop it blowing away in the wind, and to help prevent it being a slip/trip hazard. having said this, you don't have to use the Ground Protector if you don't want to. Let me know if we can be of any more help, and feel free to email me directly at tom@pelicanmanufacturing.com.au. Regards, Tom.
Hi Bill. Thank you for your comment. To be honest I do not think it will work, as the base will be too wide. We have a photo showing the maximum wheelchair/scooter width on the webpage here (link below). If that is not clear, feel free to email me at tom@pelicanmanufacturing.com.au and I can send you a different image showing the dimensions. In a filthy car park or in the pouring rain this item would be useless...folding it up when it's wet or covered in dirt and then putting it in the car boot just wouldn't be practical...my solution is to buy a light weight chair, but most of us can't afford them because the manufacturers like to rip disabled people off. I've had two quotes, both over AUD$9,000 and this is one of the cheaper options.
Hi. Thanks for your thoughts. We wouldn't recommend trying to load a wheelchair into a vehicle in the pouring rain. The Ground Protector part works well to keep the Wheelchair Boot Slider clean, but of course, anything that is in pouring rain will get wet. I hope you can find a reputable company to get a reasonably prices light weight chair. Regards, Tom.
